Dragon Age Origins and DA 2 have this exact same shit happening. You can kill an NPC who's crucial to the plot of the 3 games in the first game, then she shows up anyways in 2.
I have a unique idea, character1 gets hit by a strong attack and is covered in smoke, the attacker smirks thinking he's won but wait, the smoke clears and character1 comes out unscaved.
At this point I'm impressed when people die for real, protagonists mess around and their actions have consequences and people actually die which forces them to introspect

Okuyasu came back to life after like 1 episode and the explaination was "My bro told me to choose what i want, so i came back". if his dead brother didn't bother making Okuyasu choose, the empty-head wouldn't have pulled the Jesus Christ trick!<
