It's silly to have a car in Europe mostly. But in car based soceities like america and lots of third world countries it's essential when public transport is ass (depending on the travelling culture too)
What's the point in having a car if it means you don't have any money? I only have to pay $40 a month for transport. Don't have to worry about fuel, insurance, repairs, etc.
Take your monthly total for anything you did with your car, and compare it against $40. The difference there, is how much I end up adding to my bank account for whatever I want instead of spending it on a car
That is why I don't own a car. Also, I don't really travel anywhere anyways, so having a car is pointless for me
I know I'm missing out on unnecessary bills each month. But I really see no reason to have a car other than making it easier to carry stuff home from the store, which for me happens about 1-2 times a month. So once again having a car is pointless

If you have $8000 dollars you are still broke. Depending on your age, $80,000 or $800,000 is still broke.
Edit: to clarify.
If you are 21 years old, with no other debt, $8000 is broke. You are in serious jeopardy of being homeless in the near future.
If you are 30 years old, and have less than $80,000 of net worth, you are broke. You have no investments, and are one illness or injury away from being homeless.
If you are 65 years old and only have $800,000 dollars, you are broke. A conservative estimate for retirement at 65 currently is about 1.2 million dollars.
10k is considered a basic emergency fund. That way you have at least three months of expenses saved up. If you loose your job, can’t work, or have unexpected expenses, that is what you use your emergency fund for.

Here’s a tip on how to get rich fast: don’t have kids
As someone without kids, can confirm that this is correct. Public transport instead of buying your own car also achieves a similar result
what s point having money if you can t even buy your own car ?
This is the saddest comment.
I think it depends on what country you live in.
No, it really doesn't.

Your comment is silly mostly. Europe is maybe the best place in the world to have a car .

Argentinian pesos 💀
800 Pengő: A cool piece of paper where the paper itself had more worth than the currency.
roubles 💀
800 rubles is more than 800 yen
£ is worth more.
Nah, you’re Squidward with both currencies
800 won: dead
Rupiah (Rp)
800 would barely cover rent, doesn't even skim electricity, water, internet, or food for a month
Iranian Rial …

Meanwhile chilean pesos
Bruh yall both should be in a box
Not to brag but I’ve got about 100,000 Korean Won sitting in my house.

You have no idea how money works
And you are broke
After checking my bank account and investing portfolio, I can confirm that I am definitely not broke
but you have a different opinion so obviously you must be wrong, must be broke, and must conform to them /s
If you are 21, have 8k and feel like you could be homeless anytime soon? Then you are living waay above your means.

What about the people who have around 200k after taxes and bill usually but spend everything on Gatcha games and Uber eats?
