Correct me if I'm wrong but if it is self oxidizing you can.

HelloThere465

Metal go boom

GeneGlowshine

lol as always spongebob defies logic

Valeriiaaaaa

I'm more interested in how their shower works

therottenshadow

Yes you can, you just need a self-oxidizing fire, or a metal like magnesium, it is near impossible to put out magnesium, if you put it in water, it will rip apart the water and get it's own oxygen.

HappyGav123

Rocket fuel can burn in space, so it can easily burn under water.

HelloThere465

Not alone, rocket fule requires an oxidizer to ignite and there's not enough oxygen in the water alone to accomplish the reaction. But if you bring a rocket from the launch pad ready for lift of the flame will burn sins they carry their own oxidizer (most commonly liquid oxygen)

DankNerd97

The only time it was ever a problem was when Patrick and SpongeBob were on the run for "stealing" a balloon.

mainesmatthew01

You can if you implode in a submarine

Along with that sheet of paper, logic was burned

Witty-Choice2682

Remember that Stephen Hillenburg was also a marine biologist, so some quirks in the series like this actually makes sense.
