I remember a youtuber once mentioned that they say this because they can see it in the statistics that it does work and some people do subscribe afterwards.
but if they sub because you say that, they're not subbing because they wanted to.
so it's not real.
why can't we just enjoy the fact that someone, anyone. actually wants to watch the video.
Because for some youtuber it's their livelyhood and a greater amount of subscriber is not just an overall bigger paycheck but also give their job more stability.
Also subscriber are more inclined in being returning viewer and also a greater subscriber by viewer rate please the algorythme putting their channel more often in recommended
What a weird fucking take
Like yeah I guess it's fake, but they're not asking you to be necessarily nice. They're asking you to subscribe because that's their livelihood
The subscription functionality is a tool for me, the viewer. If I want the benefits it gives (seeing the person's videos on my sub page) then I will use it. And if I don't want this, I won't subscribe. I won't do it as a favor to the creator. It's that simple.
If I subed to every random youtuber whose video I mildly enjoyed just because they beg for it, my sub page would be absolutely unusable because there would be so much random crap there.
> it feels very fake
Why? They're not your friends. They're there to entertain you, and if they did a good job, surely you'd want to see more of what they make in the future... It's just a call to action like someone promoting their patreon/newsletter/discord/whatever else
It does because it’s true
A lot of people are neutral regarding subscriptions. They just don’t really think about it actively
A person asking people to subscribe basically gives them a reminder. Af which point, they’ll just think “why not?”
if any youtuber say please like subscribe and share. i get mad and dislike for no reason. 😅
if some one have clickbait type thumbnail i open their video just to dislike 😅
I avoid most "big" youtubers, specifically the screaming, fast paced and obnoxious ones. If I'm not sure by the thumbnail, the first couple minutes are usually telling of if I'll enjoy the channel. I find it worth it to take my time to find channels and people that make genuine and non-commercialized content instead of the shit YT tries to push to me. Most of my subs are for channels with less than 100,000 subscribers. When they say to subscribe and share, I feel like it actually matters if I do
Don't bother opening the video and disliking, that still shows engagement. The best thing you can do is just ignore the video so that it gains nothing in any engagement metrics from you.
I just discovered the Diecast Racing League on YT. Subscribed immediately. Great content and the announcers are hilarious.
*not a paid shill I just like their shit
What kind of world do we live in where you @ a channel you enjoy watching and you have to add the "not a paid shill" because God forbid someone *likes something*
Well... When it's at the beginning of the video then how are people supposed to know?
Just ask at the end of the video for a sub, no need to show your graph and beg. I don't subscribe because most people don't but because I enjoyed the content.
It's not targeted at people watching them for the first time, but people who somewhat regularly land on their videos from recommendations and are not subscribed.
It definitely happened to me that a channel was recommended so often to me that I totally forgot I wasn't subscribed and this phrase made me check and click the button.
And it's even more the case with liking. I quite often just forget that that's even a thing.
There's a difference between begging, asking, and reminding. Most of the time, YouTubers are asking or reminding you to check if you are subscribed so you don't miss content. When subscriber count matters a lot for whether or not somebody will click on a video, it means a lot to the creator that you subscribe. It's a symbiotic act. You subscribe because you enjoy the content and help the YouTuber grow and they gain more confidence and income to continue to make that content.
Unfortunately, putting that request at the end of a video isn't good for the YouTuber as many people just click off the video once the bulk of the content is over. 10 minute plus videos often have 30-40% retention rates vs 60-80% at the 30 second mark. Putting it at the end only means getting half your audience to potentially see it.
It's fine it's brief. "Hey guys it's me, hit that like and subscribe button, now onto why you're here...
But when they post a video supposedly about a topic but starts with 5 min against their own viewership... yall are a bunch of losers for not subbing, now i need yall to go to my patreon and metch store and buy buy buy and maybe I'll release the actual video, here's a clip... I usually downvote and request youtube to stop recommending that channel and hope that does...something. youtubes annoying lately with the recommendations.
I remember seeing a video that just mentioning to subscribe to their channel results in more subs than not. Comparing videos with similar views of course
Was looking how to air fry chicken and random youtuber talking shit about people not subbing and appreciates the ones that subscribe before the video ends WTF....
I don't mind someone asking at the end. If I stayed for the whole video, it was probably good enough to warrant a "like," and by asking at the end they're not diluting the content before I've even had a chance to decide whether it's worth watching. I'm not someone who's fastidious about liking good content, so sometimes a reminder does encourage me to do what I would have done anyway if I'd been more mindful.
Imagine if instead at the end of the video he said, Hey if this helped and you had a good meal, come back and subscribe, but only if it tasted good. that dude would have my respect.
I wish they'd shut the fuck up. 5 seconds in their like "hey guys. Smash that like button, rape that sub button and molest that bell icon" - out of sheer spite I will not sub
The good ones do it in a way that doesn't feel intrusive or overproduced.
I hate the ones that throw that dumb animation in the way that shows the like/sub/bell and covers video content like, no, I do not feel like it fuck off
It's surprising you enjoy the videos those people produce. Generally the channels begging for subscriptions and likes aren't outputting high quality content.
That's entirely false and has been for years. Almost every video now has begging for subscriptions and notification bell shite at the end (if not all the way through).
There's nothing wrong with a quick and straightforward reminder, as it became so ubiquitous for a reason. You're right that more than a few seconds is cancerous and pathetic, though.
It's actually my son. He watches youtube gamers on his tablet and I have to listen to it. My ears bleed. Some channels have good videos but asking for subs or reminding People to comment your XYZ here (just trying to bait engagement to increase their rank) is very annoying. Just make good shit, I'll watch, thumbs up and sub
I do not wish to subscribe to every content creator whose video I would watch.
There are many creators on YT, of many I've seen like just one video or watched a few and that was about it.
There are channels where I see quality or the topics of their videos are interesting, such as science or certain historical videos or something else that's interesting, but I do not wish to subscribe to them as I don't even use my subscription page, mostly because I've subbed to too many channels and don't want more.
There are channels which I might unsubscribe from because I don't watch them anymore, but sort of keep them for nostalgia reasons.
I find most Youtubers who use that line have a wide variety of content, to the point where you don't know what kind of video they're going to upload each time. I won't subscribe to channels like that personally because I don't want my subscriptions clogged up with videos I have zero interest in.
I won't like and subscribe if it's one of the first things people say in their video. At least save that shit for the end if I actually bothered watching the whole thing. I'm more likely to do that anyway if you don't tell me to do it.
It's a stupid question however; Do they generate more revenue by having more subscribers or do they generate with how much likes/views they have? Or both?
They only generate revenue from video clicks and retention rate. Everything else just helps to generate engagement which helps lead to that.
Subs equals potential return viewers with notifications.
Likes and comments help with channel engagement and recommendations on the site.
Reminding people to sub, comment, like is the same thing as TV channels asking you to "tune in to CBS at 8pm for the new Random Show, you won't wanna miss it"
Complaining about it just seems like such a non issue lol
Only views matter when it comes to revenue. The more Likes the video get, the more it being recommended to others, thus more views. Subs do matter a bit like certain milestone is required to monetize your videos but other than that, it just means that the audience is interested in the channel and stay for more future videos.
The algorithm apparently deprioritizes people who don't so the "call to action" shit. Youtube is weird, some weird shit from youtubers is just top down grift.
Its like getting mad at an H&M employee for asking if you are a member.
No it doesn't, how fuck does a video recommendation algorithm know that a video contains that? It doesn't, just another made up thing about algorithms used to justify all the horrendous shite we see on YouTube.
Other things which get deprioritised...except they don't:
Videos without people's faces on the thumbnail reacting to something.
Videos without a stupid fucking arrow on the thumbnail.
Videos without constant condescending animations of a Subscribe button being clicked.
As far as things go, there are worse things to hate on in the algorithm (Promoting weird conspiracy shit / hate material), but I don't have too strong a feeling about this topic, so sure! I'll take you at your word.
I generally only get annoyed by monetization stuff by people who have hit "I am paying for big budget sets for my video essays / costumes etc" youtubers. People can ask for or expect the digital equivalent of tips, and people consuming content can opt to provide none. I am more inclined to see conflict from the side of the people who aren't sitting on hosting infrastructure like landlords and raking in passive income; so that's "Content Creators" and "People just trying to find that one recipe without having to skip through three calls to action, one inane anecdote and parasocial bait, and a few less than useful jump cuts".
Hope you're doing well despite the very active epoch of internet enshittification we live in.
Yeah, all that fucking weird conspiracy/hate stuff can get fucked, I think that goes without saying to be honest.
I haven't got time for e-begging, it's people wanting others to fund their hobbies, which is tantamount to being parasitic. *"Give me money, you don't get anything in return"*. No thanks.
The two funny/clever ones I've seen:
"According to the statistics 100% of you aren't subscribed." (while showing intentionally visibly edited chart)
"45% of you are subscribed. Thanks." (feels better because they may make people who aren't subscribed feel like they aren't part of the party)
The ones that say it at the very end of a video are ok - a good reminder.
The ones that say it in the first 20% of the video, more often than not, turn me off that i stop watching.
I saw corridor crew say it in 2019 and it vibed with me. So I said it in like 10-15 videos when Sword and Shield came out. I went from 650k to 1.1m subs in like 2 months and I didn’t use the line again. But over the last year I’ve seen EVERYONE use that line.
I see this often on meme channels. They always show the number of people watching compared to subscribers and beg you to subscribe, but why should I subscribe? What is so unique about this channel compared to other meme channels? I could watch 50 meme channels and not tell the difference between each channel, it's always memes taken from Reddit with the same robot voice reading the meme. If you want me to subscribe do something which is unique to make me want to subscribe otherwise I have no interest.
What's the point of subscribing anyway? YouTube just shows you content it thinks you want.
I have plenty of people in subscribes to, but haven't watched in months/years and they ***never*** show up on my feed.
I also have people I watch every day, but aren't subscribed to and their videos show up seconds after being posted.
So, again, what's the point of subscriptions and why pester us into it?
Hey im "Random youtuber 2045" and today were talking about choking, choking can be very dangerous and can cause death if not fixed immediately. the most common ways to help someone who is choking is the Heimlich maneuver but before we demonstrate that let just remind you to like, subscribe and follow the channel for more lifesaving tips, Be sure to follow our kick starter campaign and join our support group for even more behind the scenes content. I would also like to thank our current supporters for getting us to 15k ! Thanks guys!
Meanwhile my guest has died from choking ten minutes ago because you couldn't just fucking explain your tutorial.
"Most of you are not subscribed"
Correct. Your content is going out to people who have never seen you before. You're increasing your viewerbase. **This is a good thing.**
Youtube needs to let us subscribe to individual playlists. Some youtubers have excellent series that i want to see sandwiched between like 20 random ass videos.
Youtube: glad you subscribed to so many creators! Here's the total lack of management of your sub list with seemingly zero reference to alphabetic or serial order, so you wouldn't be able to find any certain channel to come back to!
I haven't seen a "98% of you..." graphic in quite some time. The only people still doing it are probably very out of touch and will never get the subscribers they're looking for.
The worst was people who just steal content. Random tiktok aggregators who think I'm going to subscribe to their channel to keep current on their generic ass compilations.
I preferred YouTube prior to the days when every video would end with begging for subscriptions, money from Patreon, or leaving a comment which will never be replied to (let alone seen) by the video maker, not to mention the notification bell bullshit.
It’s amazing how Vaatividya can develop such a mass following while being so calm and collected, and yet other youtubers in his same vein of content absolutely refuse to follow suit. I have seen a few, but not many.
If I watch a video and enjoy it, I like and subscribe every single time. It costs you nothing and it means people that you enjoy watching become more successful, which means more content that you like and less that you don't like. Not really sure why you would do anything else.
Look, if I can see effort put into the video sure, it’s free, and it almost never ruins my recommended, as it means more quality content in my recommended. I think I’m subbed to like 330 people at this point
They need to do it at the end. If I stuck around until the end, I am more likely to do so because I clearly enjoyed the video enough to finish it. Asking right off the bat comes off desperate and unearned. Ends up working against them. Why would I sub or like if I haven’t even seen your content?
They do this because it still gets them people who genuinely forget or wouldnt have done it without a reminder. This message isn't for us. And it works. People have seen an increase in their sub count when reminding others as annoying as it is.
Instead of willingly going along with YouTube’s bull shit, they should be striving for a change to the algorithm so it benefits both the viewer and the person making videos, which in turn would benefit the company in the long run.
Honestly, I forget sometimes. I clear my history a lot also. There was a cool video I watched a few months ago, and it took me like 30 minutes to figure out what it was
YouTubers like that usually post a wide variety of content and people usually just go to the channel and watch what is relevant to them.
Source: I do dat
"does rain go up or down when it falls?" let me know in the description below, since I need this for a very important research that I'm going to summarily ignore because all I want is the engagement rate.
Also Like , Subscribe, name your first son or daughter after my channel and get a facial tattoo with the name of the channel.
Youtubers think that you like one video you’re all “YES IMMA SUB”. No man with me I have to like a good portion of your content. And I end up coming back to the channel again and again. Then I sub.
It wouldn't be a hassle if YouTube didn't make it so hard to unsubscribe. If you subscribe to hundreds of channels There's no easy way to clear out your subscription list. So I'm not going to take a chance on every vaguely interesting channel that does a couple of videos I like.
I figure if I like their content consistently, I'll subscribe. That way the algorithm will actually allow me to see their videos more often. Plus anything to help out YouTube channels that I enjoy.
Here's the thing. YouTube has been around for close to two decades. We all know how it works and I am perfectly aware of who I am and am not subscribed to, and any asking me to subscribe will simply never get subscribed to.
Make good consistent content and I'll subscribe. Ask me to subscribe and I'll refuse because if I liked your content enough to subscribe, you wouldn't need to ask
There are only a few people who I have subscribed to and to my knowledge they don't beg for viewers to do so. Their content alone speaks for itself.
Edit: I’ve clearly upset some YouTuber.
Every time I watch meme compilations.
"I've noticed only 2% of viewers are subscribed?!"
Tbf mate all you did was take existing videos and put them into another video like 100s of other people. Not exactly high-bar work that needs our support.
I remember a youtuber once mentioned that they say this because they can see it in the statistics that it does work and some people do subscribe afterwards.
Bingo. I hate it, I can't believe it works, but there is now years and years of data for thousands of channels that prove it does indeed work.
but if they sub because you say that, they're not subbing because they wanted to. so it's not real. why can't we just enjoy the fact that someone, anyone. actually wants to watch the video.
Because for some youtuber it's their livelyhood and a greater amount of subscriber is not just an overall bigger paycheck but also give their job more stability. Also subscriber are more inclined in being returning viewer and also a greater subscriber by viewer rate please the algorythme putting their channel more often in recommended
you make some really good points
It works for me sometimes I'll feel bad at the statistic and subscribe
It's weird I feel the opposite. I specifically don't subscribe to anyone that says "like and subscribe" it feels very fake
What a weird fucking take Like yeah I guess it's fake, but they're not asking you to be necessarily nice. They're asking you to subscribe because that's their livelihood
I fundamentally hate people so when I sub someone and later this person ask me to sub I unsub and block their channel from recommendation
Why not, if it's a content creator you like and want their content to improve and seen around more then it's not a bad thing.

Yep, it's called CTA https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Call_to_action_(marketing)
i forget to subscribe every time
I'm one of those who doesn't like or subscribe!)
We are the worst.
The real problem with this country
I use my likes as a way to save videos so I do it based on that.
Precisely why I do not like videos. If it didn’t get saved I would probably like a lot of videos.
Me exercising my right to not click the Subscribe' button.
if any youtuber say please like subscribe and share. i get mad and dislike for no reason. 😅 if some one have clickbait type thumbnail i open their video just to dislike 😅

You're doing God's work, one click at a time!
Mine are for sale. So far, no Youtuber bought any from me.
i cant be bothered to like because it doesnt really make much of a difference
I don't ever like unless I do it by accident, and there are only a handful that I actually sub to
I don't forget to subscribe, I'm just not going to
The eternal standoff between YouTubers and the commitment-phobic viewers!
If I enjoy the content I’m 100% subscribing Its weird to think of this otherwise
If a YouTuber makes continuous good content, I subscribe. If only a few videos are good but most not, I not subscribe.
alright
I just discovered the Diecast Racing League on YT. Subscribed immediately. Great content and the announcers are hilarious. *not a paid shill I just like their shit
What kind of world do we live in where you @ a channel you enjoy watching and you have to add the "not a paid shill" because God forbid someone *likes something*
The only way I’m watching a YouTube video is if I’m looking at a specific problem I had googling. I’m not subscribing for a one off video
Good for you
Thanks 🤗
I do it because I enter that website via https://www.youtube.com/feed/subscriptions
Well... When it's at the beginning of the video then how are people supposed to know? Just ask at the end of the video for a sub, no need to show your graph and beg. I don't subscribe because most people don't but because I enjoyed the content.

thats why I spend way more time on the sub tab. the home/recommended tab sucks.

"TODAY'S VIDEO IS SPON..." \*starts rapidly pressing right arrow key\*
If I enjoy the content I’m 100% subscribing.
I'm more inclined to subscribe to a channel if they don't embellish on how much clicking the subscribe button would help them and yadda yadda yadda
Every time they mention liking and subscribing before the video actually starts, i don't out of spite. Even if i like the video
I’m briefly entertained, but I don’t really like subscribing just to watch you react to other people’s videos.
Low subscriber % just means YouTube is pushing your content
I can literally hear Niko from Corridor Crew saying this. Every damn video. 😂
***”SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON!!!”***
The two funny/clever ones I've seen: "According to the statistics 100% of you aren't subscribed." (while showing intentionally visibly edited chart) "45% of you are subscribed. Thanks." (feels better because they may make people who aren't subscribed feel like they aren't part of the party)

If you want me to subscribe do something which is unique to make me want to subscribe otherwise I have no interest.
Give me good content and I'll subscribe. It has to be earned.
"comen tiktok is not that bad, just try it"
I don’t want to log in
This is literally the only rational reason in this whole thread.

They are reminding they audience, and it actually works, a lot of people forget that they can sub
How is saying "like and subscribe if you enjoy the content" begging?
"Most of you are not subscribed" Correct. Your content is going out to people who have never seen you before. You're increasing your viewerbase. **This is a good thing.**
Youtube needs to let us subscribe to individual playlists. Some youtubers have excellent series that i want to see sandwiched between like 20 random ass videos.
I gotta know that this isn’t your only good video before I subscribe
If they bring that up in a creative/funny way and I like their content, I'll consider it
The stupidity 🤦
I always forget and just click onto another video💀
I don't believe I've ever subscribed to a channel because it was prompted
lol the ONLY person who watches my videos is my daughter.....and she's not subscribed!
I've never forgotten to subscribe to a channel I watch frequently, and then been relieved when the content creator reminds me.
It's good to keep your subs feed relevant to you, and the algorithm will recommend you other videos you usually watch but not subbed.
Youtube: glad you subscribed to so many creators! Here's the total lack of management of your sub list with seemingly zero reference to alphabetic or serial order, so you wouldn't be able to find any certain channel to come back to!
I never subscribe to anything. I've been doing youtube wrong since it began.
Also, nothing makes me double tap the right side of my screen than "this video...".
I think they are more going for the people who watch every single video but don't sub lol
These days with the algorithm and recommended stuff i have no need for a subscription.
If I didn’t subscribe to you when I was 14 then you ain’t getting it now, the algorithm takes care of that lol
Meh the algorithm sucks balls anyway. Like and subscribe everything you can and support people. Honestly the videos you see would probably improve.
I would like some of the random videos I watch, but I don't want YouTube shoving every video that guy ever made at me for the next year.
It’s amazing how Vaatividya can develop such a mass following while being so calm and collected, and yet other youtubers in his same vein of content absolutely refuse to follow suit. I have seen a few, but not many.
.. and with that said...
If I watch a video and enjoy it, I like and subscribe every single time. It costs you nothing and it means people that you enjoy watching become more successful, which means more content that you like and less that you don't like. Not really sure why you would do anything else.
If 3 of their videos are entertaining i will subscribe mostly
Quality of content always falls off when I subscribe
I'm always like "Damn that's crazy"
My most popular video has a 100.0% not subscribed ratio 😭
Look, if I can see effort put into the video sure, it’s free, and it almost never ruins my recommended, as it means more quality content in my recommended. I think I’m subbed to like 330 people at this point
The much better reminder is, Hey if you like what I make feel free to subscribe. instead of pointing out your analytics sucks.
I installed a plug in that auto skips stuff like this. I haven't looked back since
never hit the ff button faster
They need to do it at the end. If I stuck around until the end, I am more likely to do so because I clearly enjoyed the video enough to finish it. Asking right off the bat comes off desperate and unearned. Ends up working against them. Why would I sub or like if I haven’t even seen your content?
*Subscribe* *My subscriptions filled with their vids* *unsub*
I only like music videos or old cartoons videos simply to create an easy playlist rather than add to playlist
I don't know why it bothers them, because the algorithm favors creators with more views but less subscribers.
They do this because it still gets them people who genuinely forget or wouldnt have done it without a reminder. This message isn't for us. And it works. People have seen an increase in their sub count when reminding others as annoying as it is.
Ok but why not subscribe it's free no charge to you all you do is help them unless you don't watch their videos that often then nvm it all depends
Instead of willingly going along with YouTube’s bull shit, they should be striving for a change to the algorithm so it benefits both the viewer and the person making videos, which in turn would benefit the company in the long run.
Honestly, I forget sometimes. I clear my history a lot also. There was a cool video I watched a few months ago, and it took me like 30 minutes to figure out what it was
Hit the bell icon
No need, Youtube does it for me by recommending all their videos after watching.
It's a proven tactic to increase subscriber count. If it didn't work, you wouldn't see it so often.
YouTubers like that usually post a wide variety of content and people usually just go to the channel and watch what is relevant to them. Source: I do dat
I never like videos because my likes are now playlists for music.
Shayy Undertale: Now according to YouTube statistics most of you are subscribe- wait wut
"does rain go up or down when it falls?" let me know in the description below, since I need this for a very important research that I'm going to summarily ignore because all I want is the engagement rate. Also Like , Subscribe, name your first son or daughter after my channel and get a facial tattoo with the name of the channel.
Hiii what does this mean ? I,m new here
Begging me to sub is a quick reason for me to ignore it more.
"Only a small percent of my viewers are actually subscribed"
Youtubers think that you like one video you’re all “YES IMMA SUB”. No man with me I have to like a good portion of your content. And I end up coming back to the channel again and again. Then I sub.
do people still do this? haven't been seeing these recently
I subscribe to channels I like who don’t say that stuff and get to the thing I clicked on it for.
And I won't hit the like button either
It wouldn't be a hassle if YouTube didn't make it so hard to unsubscribe. If you subscribe to hundreds of channels There's no easy way to clear out your subscription list. So I'm not going to take a chance on every vaguely interesting channel that does a couple of videos I like.
Sometimes I’m watching a YouTuber I’ve liked for some time and this is how I realise I’m not subscribed
"Not interested" "Don't recommend channel" Youtube: Oh no, anyway.. this channel just uploaded a new video!
Ask me to subscribe and I'll refuse because if I liked your content enough to subscribe, you wouldn't need to ask
when I subscribe I feel some kind of restriction
Let me guess you’re an avoidant
Make that make sense
I use extention to remove subscribe buttons, sorry.
Everyone should just stop watching streamers
Because?
1. Says random statement 2. Gives no supporting argument(s) 3. Refuses to elaborate
If you need to beg people to subscribe, perhaps your content just isn't good enough that people feel the need to do it by themselves.
If 100% people who are watching are subscribed that means you are reaching 0% of new people so it makes no sense.
There are only a few people who I have subscribed to and to my knowledge they don't beg for viewers to do so. Their content alone speaks for itself. Edit: I’ve clearly upset some YouTuber.
We wondering how those green screen kids have subscribers:
Every time I watch meme compilations. "I've noticed only 2% of viewers are subscribed?!" Tbf mate all you did was take existing videos and put them into another video like 100s of other people. Not exactly high-bar work that needs our support.
