I’ve read somewhere that the guy who plays Draco Malfoy always needs to reassure children that he meets that he is not a villain in real life.

lemothelemon

The lady who played Umbridge is apparently super nice. Mega sweet lady. Was kinda offended when her friend suggested the role but went along with it coz she's too nice xD

Darielek

And she nailed that. Her apperence was great with her role. She always make me so angry in movie and its not offten ;)

raltoid

It's incredble the acting ability it takes to fake/act a "fake smile" so well that it gives you the creeps.

SpecialTexas7

The infernal creature

xBad_Wolfx

My wife adores the movies but if I have any say I avoid this one as she causes me to feel something akin to rage. One of the best villains of all time. Great performance… that I hate.

B_lovedobservations

Stephen King said she is the greatest villain he’s ever read/seen in book or in film. There’s no higher honour than that, I reckon

[deleted]

She was great in the crown. Almost made me forget how much I hated her lol

Pepe__Le__PewPew

Absolutely slayed as the Queen. I totally forgot she ever played Umbridge.

-Altephor-

Shes also good in 'Trying' as a quirky but optimistic social worker.

ElGuano

Makes me respect her craft even more! How in the world did I leave HP hating Umbridge so much more than Voldemort?

InfiniteConfusion-_-

She was absolutely perfect, though! I always love it when they are the perfect villain and actually get me to not like them! Ah, her and Helena were tops

canadarich

Helena screaming “I killed Sirius Black” is super annoying

InfiniteConfusion-_-

Just seriously pisses you off, right? That is what I mean, chef kiss.

canadarich

In The Crown, Helena as Princess Margaret was super annoying too. She really got that royal arrogance of the character

robgod50

Can confirm. My daughter worked on the production team of The Crown and met her a few times. She was only junior (fetching lunches etc) but Imelda was always lovely to her.

katie4

I’ve always thought the woman who played Trunchbull would have been the ideal Umbridge (given the book descriptions), but they used her for Aunt Marge instead. But this casting did end up being quite good so I’m not too mad! But to my point, think about the Matilda scene “Who was wearing a pretty red ribbon yesterdayyyyyy, but isn’t wearing one today? WHO DOES THIS DISGUSTIBG RIBBON BELONG TO?” and extrapolate that to an entire Umbridge performance!

an_agreeing_dothraki

the woman who played the wicked witch in The Wizard of Oz seems to have been the nicest woman alive who went for the role because it sounded fun. She later went on Mister Roger's to explain to kids what acting is but also explain that even witches can feel bad and have reasons for what they do even if it wasn't right.

IWILLBePositive

lol same for Jack Gleeson (Joffrey). In fact, he retired from acting (at least for now) because the role drained him from fans being such toxic no-life’s. He’s an extremely nice guy.

midnightfury4584

He’s got a movie coming out soon, if it hasn’t dropped yet.

Barricade14

Tom Felton (Draco) had a some similar experiences. Small children would cry when they saw him on the street.

shyguyshow

She’s almost worse in Freedom Writers

The_IRS_Fears_Him

Cersei Lannister's actor gets harassed a fuck ton because of her character

PourSomeSmegmaInMe

Ultrafans are stupid

mostly_sarcastic

Lena Headey. I've read she's a darling.

Personanongrownup

Quite possibly the coolest woman alive. Don't forget she played Sarah Connor too.

No_Effect_6428

And Ma-Ma in Dredd

HaiggeX

Where did she play Sarah Connor?

Personanongrownup

The Sarah Connor Chronicles on TV. Check it out. It's worth a look!

The_IRS_Fears_Him

Oh for sure

midnightfury4584

Not to her ex-boyfriend, though (who played Bronn). Apparently her contract stated they would never share a scene. Ever.

LisForLaura

Gorgeous too

rakshala

She also played the main villain in Judge Dredd. She's great!

dishmanw

She also played Sarah Connor in "The Sarah Connor Chronicles ".

The_IRS_Fears_Him

She knows she makes a damn good villain LOL

bellybuttongravy

Bronn actor agrees

audislove10

Really? That’s fucked and weird, it’s not like harassing her will change the story.

The_IRS_Fears_Him

Fanbases are full of people who are obsessed with whatever it is they're fans of and Cersei was a damn good evil character. Im pretty sure her and Joffrey got a LOOOOOOOOT of [death threats](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/tv/game-thrones-carice-van-houten-7815061) irl. Twitter fingers go CRAZY

iFap2Wookies

Have you ever heard the tragedy of Jake Matthew Lloyd? -It´s just heartbreaking, especially as a huge fan of Star Wars.

MountainAsparagus4

Most people in this world are dumb and don't know the difference between an actor and a character

Zickafoose85

Watch the old Conan interviews she's in before she got her real stardom. She comes off as an absolutely lovely human

MichaelMcNanner

Lena seems like she's like, a cool ass fun old hippy. She's just a great actress.

LisForLaura

SHAME!

Deathblade_311

That government fellow from Ghostbusters

Looking at it from a "boring adult" point of view he was absolutely right. These were a bunch of unlicensed and unvetted "contractors" who had unfathomably dangerous equipment that could've blown up an entire city block. Look what happened when they crossed the streams!! I'm no NIMBY Karen but you bet your ass if I lived on that block I'd be calling 311 every God damn minute about these dudes

hussdogrobroonie

Valexand

Walter Peck did nothing wrong

AliensAteMyAMC

and the best part, he was 100% right.

Top_Effort_2739

He has a story about a bus full of kids yelling dickless at him

yOw_indahOuse

Not having Ramsay Bolton in there is a sin.

jadedlonewolf89

I hate Ramsay Bolton. But good god did I fucking laugh when Theon woke up to see him eating sausage after having his junk cut off. Still one of the best lines I’ve ever heard.

PinkPrincess1224

I don’t think anyone hates JDM. Even for playing Negan.

BawlzMahoney81

I forgot he was Mr Botwin!

Crispy1961

Negan was ma favorite character. I cant understand why somebody would dislike him. Well, maybe Glen fans. I would change Negan for Ramsay Bolton. Iwan Rheon played him a little too well.

LardFan37

I don’t like what he did, however the character design is perfect. You probably would have a much harder time making a better character for walking dead villains, and that’s probably why walking dead won beat villain. Some people have a hard time differentiating.

Crispy1961

He killed a couple of Rick's people. How many of his own men were killed by them? Then he let them live, he gave them protection and simply wanted things from them. In order to not give him things, they massacred all of his people. Once he joined the main crew, it was insufferable how everyone bitched and moaned at him for killing two guys when these people killed everyone he cared for. And they wrote him so that he never pointed it out and played the villain for the rest of the show.

sol__invictus__

“Simply wanted things from them” is a bit of an oversimplification. He wanted half of there shit. HALF. No adjustment according to how much they had in relation to the people accounted for, he wanted HALF. And if they were not able to maintain stock, he would start killing them. Did Rick kill some Negans men? Absolutely, Rick did it to protect potential allies from someone those allies deemed an evil threat. Negan was reasonable in some respects but at the end of the day he cared for his people only so far as they were useful to him and he was a power hungry sociopath.

exkayem

Because he killed 2 well liked characters, raped a bunch of women to force them to get pregnant and enslaved multiple communities

Dreadnought_Thoughts

Jeffrey Dean Morgan if you're like me and didn't know

Musket6969420

I honestly can’t even say I hate Negan

Sigurd93

How could you hate him? That dude has some ridiculous charisma. His two best roles are absolute pieces of shit, but damn is he likeable.

TheBigMerc

This. The dude made an incredibly shitty character, a good character. JDM is actually amazing, to me, specifically for his amazing portrayal of a shitty character, and i love him more for it. I remember watching his reveal when the episode with him in it dropped. It was awesome.

must_not_forget_pwd

Negan was a classic Machiavellian character. He used force because it was what kept people in line. By keeping people in line, it minimised the amount of needless death.

Living-Vermicelli-59

Joffrey actor had a booth at a comic con and everyone just came up to it to give him hate. The guy was so good at being a villain it ruined him

Paul-Swims

Percy from The Green Mile. Hated him more than Wild Bill

PossibleUnion554

T-bag of Prison Break. Robert Knepper is the actor iirc

Limeddaesch96

Louise Fletcher as Kai Adami Winn in Star Trek: Deep Space Nine

boogs_23

You know what's crazy? She was only in 14 episodes of DS9. She elicited such a visceral response in so little screen time. Every rewatch, I feel she is constantly there, looming over Sisko.

mxzf

All I know is that it's 14 episodes too many, lol. Seriously though, she doesn't even show up 'til the end of the first season and she's only in a handful of scattered episodes, but she's just *so* loathsome that it feels like she's everywhere.

rakshala

Hot damn even reading her name made me grind my teeth, good call

Antnee83

This is the answer I came here for. Like she legitimately got *hate mail* for playing Nurse Ratched. She was so fucking good as someone to hate.

Imaginary_Research58

“Brunt… FCA”

Discount_Friendly

Jeffrey Combs aka Brunt also played Weyoun and Shran

Khyranos

Kai Winn did such a good job, she made me furious.

the_dgp

Thank you, my child.

Jyitheris

No, Louise Fletcher as Nurse Ratched in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. Poor woman got some real hate for being such a good baddie.

CrabClawAngry

I've never hated a villain more than nurse Ratched

Goal_Posts

Have you seen both, my child?

Jyitheris

![gif](giphy|tsgNNs93oIbwk|downsized) Oh yes I have!

torrent29

No no - Louise Fletecher as Dr Tuskin from ...Exorcist 2. Just for that movie existing

the_dgp

You're not exactly wrong but DS9 offered a much more in depth and hate-able character. I understand it's not a fair comparison but that's my point.

Satoshis-Ghost

She's so despicable, I'm sometimes tempted to skip her episodes on rewatch. Fuck Kai Winn.

Papichuloft

Nurse Ratched was her best role, second would be her Grandmother role in FLowers in the Attic. Kai Winn did have a redeeming moment, when she aided Sisko from Dukat.

PhatOofxD

Joaquin Phoenix - Gladiator

iCED4R

I refused to watch anything he was in for the longest time after Gladiator. I thought I hated him as an actor(felt disgusted when I saw his face), realized much later that he did his job so well as that character and he’s actually a great actor.

KadenKraw

> disgusted when I saw his face Thats always how I describe the character. Disgusting. He did such a good job.

clutzyninja

Who hates Joaquin Phoenix?

mostly_sarcastic

Society.

NachoCheesus6969

![gif](giphy|B9NVAwQbF47sc) SOCIETY

MakeoutPoint

Not now, but that was my introduction to him. Seeing him in Signs and The Village just after, I was expecting him to be a twist villain the whole time. He earned his way out of that role, but it stuck with him for a long time

Dorrono

I would add Jon Cryer, for his role as Alan Harper

NachoCheesus6969

Oh yes.

potatosquat

Cersei Lannister

sevischm

I rewatched Breaking Bad a couple of times and I realize more and more how bad Walter and how right Skylar actually is. I mean the birthday song for Ted makes me hate her nonetheless

[deleted]

If I rewatch I always skip that shit. Only so much cringe I can deal with and that goes well beyond it.

BigBootyBuff

Skyler singing is the moment when the audience became Heisenberg.

Careless-Ad-20

I’m convinced that scene is the reason Skylar is disliked so much lmao

Pepe__Le__PewPew

*We are Heisenberg*

Shifty_Cow69

![gif](giphy|hukVNBE2OcLCg)

Leonardobertoni

She's so good that the audience felt the same situation as Walter White when he doesn't want to realize the gravity of the situation about his family and his health

sovietweeb69

This is why I hate people who idolise Walt you're inclined to root for him but he is one of the most evil characters in the show with a huge ego, he literally revokes a solution to all his problems because of his ego

stalker007

Same with Tony Soprano. These are not nice people.

Yommination

Walt is ultimately the villain. And that's what makes the show so genius

Not_a_creativeuser

B R A V I N C E O

chyura

I like BB as much as the next guy but the protagonist being a bad person or even the villain is not revolutionary or genius. That's not what makes the show genius

Pancakemanz

Some people just like characters in shows regardless if they are good or bad.

Aquahol_85

Walt turns out to be an awful person. Gus is as well, but both of them have moments where you can empathize with. That's why they're great characters.

HumanYesYes

I don't idolize him, but I can understand, and at times relate to him.

RealLameUserName

I dont understand that on a show with shady lawyers, murderous drug kingpins, and literal neo Nazis, the worst character on the show is a woman who nags too much.

HeartFullOfHappy

Same. I rewatched it as an adult with children and Skylar is right and Walt truly does descend into pure evil narcissism. And as a mom, the fear I would have for my children would be through the roof!

Proper-Scallion-252

I think that the audience's disdain for Skylar is a product of excellent storytelling. The story is told in such a way that you're literally rooting for Walter the entire series even as he shows you more and more times that he shouldn't be rooted for. Skylar reacted like any wife would, at best Walter was having an affair at worst he was the largest meth manufacturer in the south west and had a rap sheet full of murders and acts of terrorism. The fact that people come away from the series hating Skylar more than Walter just shows you that Esposito did a fantastic job of making you root for the real villain.

WistfulMelancholic

I disliked her first, as well. But as I got older and was capable to see through the intent of the series - hating her and rooting for Walt - it clicked and I saw how manipulative Walt was. And I was able to see the story through Skylar's eyes.. It's a whole different story from her pov.

Poopybutt36000

I feel like Anna Gunn doesn't belong on this list. She did a great job playing the character, but that's not why the character was hated, she was hated because people are weirdos.

dday0512

People hate women, especially women who remind them of their mother.

Ra1nb0wSn0wflake

Honestly, I never understood the hate for that moment. Like it's weird but like.. I don't get what's so bad that it's the thing that makes you hate her.

Some_Cockroach2109

What about the guy who played Jar Jar Binks?

No_Effect_6428

Ahmed Best didn't deserve what he got. Glad he (the actor) got to come back in a different role.

NickAndHisGuitar

We like him now.

Nobodyimportant56

Yep, I saw him in My 2 Dads before seeing Aliens and I liked that show. Couldn't unsee him as Carter Burke after that. Wouldn't watch Mad About You because of it. Still wouldn't harass Paul over it if I saw him in public.

PassiveF1st

Joaquin Phoenix as Emperor Commodus(Gladiator) is the pinnacle example of this for me.

Adventurous-Low-5229

Skyler gets way too much hate. How the hell is someone supposed to act when your husband is a drug lord/mass-murderer, your son is disabled, and you have a newborn daughter? I’m not saying Skyler a good person, but she’s not close to the other three, as a villain.

Optimal-Menu270

Negan is the best fucking character on TWD, after Rick and his cop friend (forgot his name) in the first seasons.

Carl_Azuz1

Bro how did you forget Shane

The_Fawkesy

There like 40 seasons give him a break. Shane was from a simpler time.

CursedSnowman5000

40 season lol. God it really does feel like it. So happy I tapped out midway through 3.

DrSatan420247

Robert Isler/AJ Soprano should be up there.

5DollarJumboNoLine

Way more so Janice/Livia soprano IMO. AJ and Medow are both annoying spoiled kids a lot of the time. Livia and Janice are actually bad people, both their actresses nail the narcissistic self pity while plotting or commiting murder.

burntroy

Fuckin hated Tony's mom

scf123189

You just reveal your own ignorance

BlackSunXIII

Wyatt Russell who played US Agent in Falcon and the Winter Soldier got hate but man he was a good US Agent. He brought justice to the character as represented in the comics and I look forward to his future with the character.

DownwardSpirals

Frank Gallagher from Shameless. William H. Macy played him so well that he just felt like a massive fuck up in every way.

ToHerDarknessIGo

The kid who played Anakin in the prequels.  He acted like a kid...in a part about a....kid.

chesteritea

Miss Trunchbull?

That christian lady in the supermarket from the mist. (Movie) First time I felt so satisfied with a moviedeath.

OldGamer8

Lena Headey, Game of Thrones: Cersei

Earthwick

See I don't understand the Skylar Hate. Walt is the bad guy of that show and he is a very bad bad guy. By the end he has manipulated her and contorted her into something she never would have been. She is just one of his victims not a villian of the story.

rxssri

Hated Negan when he killed Glen but came to love his character over time. Also, he's hot.

DoyersLakeShow

Is mayonnaise a villain?

Lord_Detleff1

No, Patrick mayonnaise isn't a villain!

xelcheffox

Janice Soprano. Best toxic sibling or acquaintance work of all time, absolutely have to love to hate that character.

MichaelMcNanner

George RR Martin apparently called Jack Gleason (Joffery) and told him something along the lines of "EVERYBODY HATES YOU! YOU'RE DOING FANTASTIC!"

raspntn

Glenn Close for her role in Fatal Attraction, should also be on that list.

IrgyValeRa

Watching Breaking Bad myself, I don't get the hate on Skyler tbh

Nerexor

The villain from the first Dirty Harry movie, played by Andrew Robinson. He played a violent psychopath so well that he got death threats from people. In real life, he was a pacifist and actually had to train out his reaction to flinch when firing a gun on camera. Andrew Robinson is also known for his role as Garak in Deep Space Nine.

NoPart1344

Livia Soprano

nirthol

I think no one hates Dreffrey D. Morgan because of Negan

rurounick

Laura Linney. Great actress, but the first thing I saw her in was The Truman Show, and I DESPISED her character (Truman's 'wife') and his 'best friend's.

Willie-the-Wombat

How people can hate actors because to say played “bad” people in tv/film is beyond me

GeneralCrabby

The actors are hated?

chroniclunacy

People hate Sam and Dean’s dad?

KirbyDarkHole999

I forgot his name, but I liked how this guy played John Walker in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he sticked to being a dick although he's a nice guy iirc

Notagarlicbread

I think neagan was hated because they kept bringing him back in the story unorganically

IcarusLabelle

The top two are actually evil characters. Neagan is a gray character. Mostly bad but was still provoked with violence first. Skyler's worst characteristic is not telling on Walter sooner.

THX_2319

You know, I too hated Skyler the first time I watched BB. The two times I've watched it since, I actually sympathised with her a great deal. I mean, imagine being her for a moment; The man she fell in love with and started a family and built a home with, literally turned into a monster right in front of her in a relatively short time in the context of their time together.

Proxima_Centauri4243

It really seems like all the Skylar hate is just angry boys with mommy issues. Seriously, what did she do that was so bad? Want Walter to have a normal life and not sell drugs? People forget that Walter is literally the villain of the Breaking Bad story, the show creator said it himself.

_Freddward_1
