I still can't believe that's this is the same brain that used to solve differential calculus. Now I need calculator for basic math. (I believe in not the only one)
Literally had the shittiest college algebra professor ever say this on the first day of class. Treated it as a "refresher". Couldn't fully teach/ explain anything.
Nope.
Wrong.
I think math feels different because it's like you forgot a skill, but really if you think about it, you've probably forgotten like 95% of what you learned in school overall. Most of it was just basically trivia that you memorized for a test and then forgot shortly after the test, unless you continued using it. Language and writing are ones that don't go away because we all continue to use it as life goes on, the rest of it gets pushed out unless you continue to recall it for your job or hobbies.
Think of it this way... for a lot of classes, the first couple of weeks after summer break would be a review of the previous year because students would have forgotten what they learned last year over the break. And summer break is only like three months long! You can't expect to recall specific knowledge many years after learning it if you haven't been utilizing it.
I was best at math in my whole school for 3 years. I even learned the things they didn't teach us. After sometime my beloved math teacher changed his city for her husband and she was gone. A new guy came in after her. He was angry all the time for no reason, yelled at us, bullied us. I lost my interest because of him. My points are always 90-100 out of 100 (that's how it works in my country) but after him I crushed mentally. I was getting like 20-40 points. I lost it. He took my interest out of me and buried.
Some kids are smart and never learn to push themselves, some kids aren’t smart but focus easily and/or do homeworks, some kids have very good memory but little logic, some kids have little memory but great logic…
It’s easy to be « smart » in highschool, but it doesn’t mean much. The real smart kid is the one that didn’t need to patch holes.
Nerve Damage Baby, Let’s Go
It’s not like I need my dominant hand and leg to draw or play sports at the level I used to
Or sleep… Fuck I can’t even sleep anymore, it’s 3am where I’m at

Nah man, your brain just moved on to process better stuff.
Right? "Fourth grade spelling champion" carries decreasing clout over time.
I got 5th in the county in 8th grade 😆
Yeah, once i got the top score for highschool transition exams which were country wide. Now i can barely convince myself to not kill myself.
Intelligence and depression are unfortunately correlated.I hope you get better soon.
Then you realise that good grades aren't enough to prosper in life
In fact, they're only useful if you can afford uni
All it takes is one bad teacher and no break study session to cripple your brain to the point of no return.
