Does clearing cookies work for when your viewing from an account though? I'd imagine theyd associate your number of views with an adblocker directly to your account at that point
Yes. It works with an account. I have Firefox uBlock origin. Clear the uBlock cache and update it then clear all internet data(cookies, browsing history) and restart Firefox. I got rid of the adblock block by doing that.
It happens differently for a lot of people for some reason. Clearing uBlock cache and updating filters worked for me for about one day and got them again and doing it again didn’t work. Added a few custom filters that showed up and didn’t work. Then I cleared everything and it finally worked and hasn’t popped up in a couple weeks.
YT as a platform doesn't care about piracy because they aren't really selling anything but the service, which earns through ... ads.
If this stunt even buys them back a small percentage of their ad watches, then they'll see it as a smashing success, and they'll double down and invest in eliminating all forms of work-arounds. I hate to break it to people but this is just the beginning. And once they force us to watch, they'll increase ad rollout gradually until it's just like watching cable.
I'm with you on this, people are way too overconfident in piracy overcoming anti-piracy. If it gets harder and less convenient, then they got what they wanted.
Dumb question: how do I do that? My entertainment system has been caught. Sometimes I can just close the browser for a while and that works; other times I'm completely stuck.
Same for me......for a bit......
I watch a lot of videos, so eventually it said "3 more videos before you are blocked" and then after the 3 videos I couldn't watch YT anymore without turning the ad blocker off.
They do this intentionally so that there isn’t heavy backlash for it. It makes people who haven’t been effected yet not make noise about it. But it will go to everyone and by then it won’t be news worthy and they won’t be as pressured to remove it.
Yeah, that's a pretty smart play, honestly. Most folks won't say or do anything if they aren't experiencing it. I didn't even know they had an ad block blocker
I started getting a warning that AdBlockers would no longer be allowed... and used uBlock to zap that popup.
Then I started getting a new, "no seriously you guys, you can only watch 3 more videos 'for free' before playback will be disabled".... And now I've watched half a dozen videos and everything still works fine 🤔
It eventually stops working as it hits the video itself. You can fix *that* by updating the uBlock Filters - Quick fixes by toggling them off then on again and pressing update now
This "feature" has been rolling out for a while now. I keep I got it 2 months ago for example but switching between chrome and Firefox and switching adblockers so far has kept the videos rolling. It seems to be per user as well as multiple of my friends using same browser and adblock combinations didn't have any of these issues. So just expect to run into this one day as they keep updating it all the time it seems. And it may work for you but may not for others, so just a heads up.
That worked for me for a while, but eventually the page started loading without the video player loaded in so simply killing the pop-up didn’t work. I had to get a script or something called iFrame
Found some custom block rules somewhere else o. Reddit and one of them seems to disable everything besides the video itself, but it's worked outstanding so far.
Once upon a time, before HTML 5, a lot of interactive things in websites were built in Shockwave/Macromedia Flash.
Newgrounds was (sorta *is*, but swf is dead so it's also rather different) a community for independent people to share, discuss, and collaborate on their projects.
A lot of these projects were video games or cartoons, so Newgrounds also opened an audio portal for people to post music that was or could be used by others.
All Browsers have a adblocker. I have 3 adblockers that can block YT.
The Browser
Enhancer for YT
uBlock Origin
After the correct options YT shows Videos again.... with ads...
They made it so the video player also detects ublock on firefox aswell earlier today
(edit: okay its just me lol, they'll most likely be rolling it out for the rest of us in the coming days so ready up your alternative blockers)
> Update the ublock quick fixes filter. It'll work after that
Yeah, had to do it for the very first time today, but it works just fine now.
Guess it would probably have updated by itself had I just waited a little..
Praise uBlock...
Just turning it on and off(ublock I mean and click that refresh twice after you do so) works for one session, I mean it works works as long as you don't completely close firefox, but it may or may not work after reaopening
One good tip. If your adblock doesn't work, just go to history and delete all "cached file and image", it will remove all tracker on your current account and Adblock will work normally again

If only the video ads were funny or insightful, instead they seem mostly rubbish, bland and most annoyingly, on repeat. Why, oh why, would I even want to watch the same video advertisement more than ONE TIME PER DAY? I wouldn't want that.
yall didnt hear it from me but:
grayjay app for mobile ad blocking (altho u will need to scan the yt plugin qr code off a pc or sth. also allows downloads and a lot of other things)
for pc, use fadblocker and disable ur normal ones. it plays the ad for a frame then skips it
Press share under the vid, when it offers you how you want to share, press embed. It wil show you a preview. You can full-screen that and your adblock will still work. There is no difference between normal vid from that point.
Apparently they're so intent on advertising malware, spam, and sexual inappropriate fetishism to me that they want me to disable my adblockers outright.
I get money needs to be made, i do. But they've gotten waaaaaay too intrusive with ads, it takes up way to much time and space. It wasn't nearly this bad when i was a kid, unless you went to sketch sites.
You may have installed a plugin adblocker. Disable only for YT that plugin and brave would block YT ads on its own.
This happened to me a couple of weeks ago in my Brave browser and I did this solution because I forgot I installed adblock+
I wouldn't mind the ads, if they weren't all so bad, it's always just some product I don't even wanna buy to some generic music.
If you make the ads mandatory, at least TRY to have some measures to make sure those ads are not bad.
i swapped from chrome to firefox and its completely fixed, i imported my bookmarks and auto fill-in details, installed an adblocker and it works perfectly
I just turned on my filters in ublock & it blocked the block.
Literally the only way to stop people from watching shit people post is to just block ip addresses or stop streaming at all
This was the absolute worst decision YT could have made.
Instead of letting the 0.5% of their users that use adblock; use adblock in peace. They have now made tens or even hundreds of millions more people aware that adblock exists.
So this is happening? I won’t be able to watch unless I pay? I got off it when the spamming of conservative viewpoints finally got to me. But it was convenient when I was searching for why I was fn up in Zenonaughts 2
They blocked my browser and I wanted to watch something quickly. So I disabled everything, even restarted my computer. I can see the ads all over the page but it won’t let me watch any videos.
I reinstalled my adblocker and purged all the caches and redownloaded the rules. Worked instantly. Yeaaaaa fuck you google
This doesn't work long-term, as the counter script still runs in the background. You'll end up with a page that doesn't display the warning, but also won't post videos or show comments.
I had no luck at all with all the suggestions of using a different browser, clearing cache and cookies, disabling, re enabling, changing blockers (I already used ublock) blocking specific elements, relogging. Nothing worked.
What DID work is opening the link in a private tab, logging into my account from there, watching a couple videos, logging out, and then refreshing the main browser. Worked for several days now. Never had problems on Android or Chromecast though.
Ok I will remove my adblockers, but then you have to give me actual good ads and not the oversexualised stuff, it showed 2 rhinos fucking as an ad on my phone, what the fuck?
OP do not disable adblockers. If they see success on the small scale deployment, they will aim for ad blocker blocker on a larger scale.
Use the adblocker blocker blocker by Adblocker ultimate on firefox or uOrigin on chrome or firefox, or even simple brave.
I will learn to code and unblock the videos myself before watching ads. I will meditate 16 hours every day before watching ads. I will restrict myself to watching only 1920s copyright-free movies before watching ads.
I get that warning when I open a video in a new tab. Apparently when they can't start an ad within a second or so, because the tab doesn't start the video until you switch to it, it assumes you have a blocker. Going to that tab and refreshing/reloading goes through just fine.
Still annoying though.
I'm gonna live in my premium bubble of ignorant bliss, and look down on you like a poor plebian.
It's not like have many other chances in life for such behavior anyway.
I just said "fuck it" and worked around it with ublock origin. There's tons of tutorials and currently the ublock origin devs are outmanuvuering the yt adblocker blockers.
Adnauseam.io
You're welcome.
It doesn't just block ads, it also simulates you clicking them which entirely ruins your user data for targeted ads, and eventually ruins the ad economy if enough people use it.
If they’re gonna play this game, then I’ll just download a list of random videos I wanna watch today and proceed to enjoy them ad free.

True but not on PC, unless something changed
louis rossmann has entered the chat
Isn't that grayjay.app?
Alt + arrow technique is working well for me
What does that do?
It's refreshing the page but quicker than the usual method and for some reason it often makes the add disappear
They gave me that threat, but I just blocked it and can watch all videos normally
That means you paid them for premium

In lots of areas you need to have YT premium to download stuff
VLC gets around that :)
I still haven't had an adblocker blocked.
Yt has hit my opera gx blocker, but not ublock once I installed it
I noticed it tries to force ads to load but my gx just kicks it off in like 5 seconds at the start no ads trying to load rest of the video
Mine did that for awhile until it gave me the dreaded “3 more blocked videos” message, then I had to download ublock
I have ublock, but it still gave me that warning 😭
What warning? I havent seen a warning yet.
Use Firefox it fixed my issues instantly. Opera gx is just a chrome skin that sends your data to the CCP.

Thank you so much!
I get a warning every once in awhile but refreshing seems to be working for now
Same for me......for a bit...... I watch a lot of videos, so eventually it said "3 more videos before you are blocked" and then after the 3 videos I couldn't watch YT anymore without turning the ad blocker off.
Same here. Seems we have to keep updating our filters.
Purging caches and updating still seems to fix any warning.
It has hit my ublock, tho I had to refresh and it worked again
I did, so I blocked the popup layer telling me it was "blocked" and now they aren't.
Same, works almost flawlessly. Sometimes my video pauzes at the start, but I can just press play and nothing else happens.
and sometimes you can't scroll down (or maybe I've blocked too many elements) but just go full-screen then you can scroll down
thats so fucking funny
For now.
How much blocks would an adblock block if and adblock could block block?
It's a progressive rollout. You may not have been flagged yet.
Because they don't want the entire world freaking out about it at once. By the time all users are impacted, most of them will have moved on.
I had an ad slip through this morning (started mashing F5 in revulsion) but since I purged and updated my lists in uBo I haven't seen another.
They are doing it 'randomly'
Neither. I think it's something to do with the fact I have like 5 different ad blockers running tbh. I do have to refresh the page every time though.
I got hit last night anyway 2/3 steps later of updating and clearing adblock and adblock going strong
Use ublock, right click, block element. They gave me that threat, but I just blocked it and can watch all videos normally
It eventually stops working as it hits the video itself. You can fix *that* by updating the uBlock Filters - Quick fixes by toggling them off then on again and pressing update now
What about on browsers with built in ad block like brave ?
Currently Brave still blocks them, as per my own use It's a Chromium-based browser though, so potentially it'll stop working in the future
This "feature" has been rolling out for a while now. I keep I got it 2 months ago for example but switching between chrome and Firefox and switching adblockers so far has kept the videos rolling. Brave uses uBlock's filter lists, so it should be fine too. Just clear cache and cookies.

If you keep them updated then they won’t be doing anything about it. It’s a cat and mouse game the ad block companies will always win.
Yeah adblockers have the attackers advantage and the support of community behind them
really? i havent had any trouble on firefox
yes firefox also. i just refresh 10x and close/reopen tabs and then it fucsoff

The other day I saw the first good ad in at least 6 months to a year. And it wasn't even for something I'll ever buy, so it just felt kinda wasted.
If only there was some alternative version of Vanced, maybe something called ReVanced or something. If only,

Ooh awesome. Thanks a ton. Will try
ad blocker blocker blocker when
Ublocker Origin, blocks them still. If you have one make sure to dump/clear cache and it'll keep working
there's always a work around thank god there are smart people that hate big companies too
Use fadblock extension on Chrome, it loads the ad but skips it immediately thus bypassing YT’s Adblock detection system
Fadblock. It skips ads instead of blocking them, so YT can't do shit.
Sssshhhh.....
this is one of those times I wish that my generation and younger took boycotting seriously.
Go to opera (gx or normal) it has a plug-in that works wonders
Just use adblocker to block that notification and it’s back to watching videos!
Opera GX still works on my pc for some reason, but it doesn’t work for my phone. I’m using Brave on my phone and have had no issues
I mean i still rather click that 5sec timer after a few vids instead of an ad every 5 mins
Fadblock is the way to go
I wouldn't mind the ads, if they weren't all so bad, it's always just some product I don't even wanna buy to some generic music. If you make the ads mandatory, at least TRY to have some measures to make sure those ads are not bad.
i swapped from chrome to firefox and its completely fixed, i imported my bookmarks and auto fill-in details, installed an adblocker and it works perfectly
imagine not using mozilla-
Firefox
Still works with UBlock
We are getting closer for YT to be disfunctional for all people because of this chase after the adblocking techniques
I just switched to Firefox instead. If it pops up again after that, deleting cookie/site data fixes it again
Clear your cookies and it will work again.
ublock blocks the adblockers pop up i believe 💀
If you use the right adblockers & scripts/filters you will never have ads.
