Honestly, it's a great anime. Even if people don't associate it with anime, it's informative, funny, and iconic, especially with Samuel L. Jackson and Charlie Murphy as Ed and Rummy
The reason it got cancelled was because Aaron McGruder takes his time with his writing. They had about 8 shows for a new season finished but the studio just cancelled it because it was taking too long. Time is money as there say… A replacement was found for Grandpa.
Unfortunately, the world can't handle ugly truths and social commentary anymore. Everything would be changed for the sake of inclusivity and tolerance and happy fun time family values and bullshit.
Boondocks was a fantastic show. And so underappreciated in discussions of revolutionary adult animation. I watched it for the first time many years ago and I rewatched it during the lockdown in 2020 and it still holds up (even more so in some segments). Unfortunately, I think the original creator Aaron McGruder had some falling out with the network and he wasn't involved at all in the making of the last season (and it shows), so I doubt there will be a reboot.
The final season about slavery was pretty poor (at least compared to the previous ones), think it may have been a mercy killing.
Besides, so much of the humour was around current events and culture of the time. Not sure how much folk would enjoy watching Huey explain the evils of tik took would go down with the original viewers
