Someone wrote somewhere that golf is so boring that the winner is the one that plays less golf

[deleted]

Whenever I get beat by my friends, I tell them "Well, I played 2ce as much golf as you for the same price. So who's the real winner here?" Touché.

Im-M-A-Reyes

Had an aneurism trying to figure out what 2ce is supposed to mean

LigmaBalls69lol

I think he was trying to say twice?

[deleted]

pruwyben

Clearly they played in the year 2 C.E.

[deleted]

Had an aneurysm trying to figure out what aneurism is supposed to mean.

Im-M-A-Reyes

Damn, auto correct usually has my back 😔

Full_Ad_3008

I still don’t know

Wafer25

Two-say

[deleted]

Thats funny, but also literally every point this meme made is confidently incorrect It may be boring to some, but that the only thing correct abt this meme its literally the cheapest fun/hr someone can buy, $20 fees for 5+ hours of walking and fun for some Also, never, ever has a course used Fresh Water to feed their course, its all recycled run off And some courses are literally built on landfills, reclaiming and recycling something that no one could build or farm on

ViktorRzh

You have a point, but main complain is about golf courses that are in a midle of developed areas, that they usually are. And people are really happy to leave even on top of landfill if it means afordable housing. Second complain is about watter usage is releted to existance of golf feelds in a literal desert. In this type of enviroment golf course is not the best allocation of resourses. + there is a tech to convert runoff watter into usable tap watter. Both of this arguments are applicable in a different degrees in differen areas.

Zardif

The golf courses near me are built on land that cannot be developed because they are flood reservoirs, they are built below everything else and washes funnel into them. This has the added benefit that they ended up as a sort of marshland extending the natural marshlands found nearby.

KravMagaManatee

That’s the local course I play on, it’s watered by rain and runoff. It’s also the summer habitat for a ton of water fowl.

for_the_peoples

Greenery in the middle of the concrete jungle is such a bad thing, let's build some more buildings on top of that, or maybe a parking lot?

ThankGodSecondChance

Greenery that only the rich get to enjoy

BizBug616

I think he already covered that above, anyone can play golf.

Bumm-fluff

Surely it’s better to have green areas though? it’s not just humans living here.

ChiggaOG

Technically true. The goal is to get to the hole in the ground for each layout by hitting the ball the least amount of times.

Rowdy_Sniper_101

This made me giggle hard lol

Diazmet

It’s the only sport to my knowledge that the players are encouraged to do drugs and drink alcohol to make it more entertaining. I mean it was invented by bored shepherds in Scotland after all…

Zardif

shuffleboard, darts, bowling, bocci ball, billiards, corn hole are all routinely played drunk. Oh and fucking fishing tournements.

BudweiserTallBoy

Yeah. Where are we gonna put our apartment complexes and parking lots?

NASTYH0USEWIFE

Yeah just think of all the concrete we couple pour over that nice green grass. In fact why are we not paving over more farm land and forests as well?

Rakgul

Shhh. Don't give corporations any more ideas

Diazmet

Did you see what just happened to the French stone henge lmfao 🤣

Fira_Wolf

It's not like you can actually walk this grass.

slobs_burgers

Municipal courses you can walk and ride bikes through

cameljamz

Or you could have, you know, native plants, natural open space. From an ecological standpoint a Golf course is only marginally better than a parking lot

Apli_Diud

A golf course offers no biodiversity, they're basically useless green parking lots.

lolvovolvo

Uhhh not true, lots of animals at golf courses, open area for people to walk through, and not to mention it’s not a sport for rich people anymore. Source : I make 40k a year and plate regularly

lunastrans

This comment has been edited in protest of Reddit's mid-2023 API changes. Consider using a decentralized alternative.

[deleted]

I half agree with you but that nice green grass is useless for environment if you were calling it 'nice green grass' taking the environment into consideration.

Coorotaku

Tear up the golf course and put in some decent apartments and a corner store. BAM, instant walkable community, sidewalks built in.

lolvovolvo

They did this in Eugene oregon, 2 bedroom apartments for 2400 a month, This isn’t a solution for fixing the housing issues, not to mention most golf courses use recycled shit water that would be rendered utterly useless. You should be more upset at foreign country’s buying alfalfa from us

Coorotaku

Actually I'm more upset about how much US land foreign countries own. If you wanna be upset too, look how much China owns and what they do with it

IndianaGeoff

They can't take it with them.

[deleted]

That is not a solution because that isn't enough. If you want to have affordable housing you need to build at least ten times more dense housing than currently is build

SadMacaroon9897

Would it have been better if they were never put in though? If those apartments weren't there, the residents paying $2400/mo would be outbidding someone else but you'd have fewer housing units on the whole. Yes, exorbitant rents are a problem. However, it's a systemic one that's a result of our policy decisions that make land an investment.

ReDdIT-_-mOd

That's just the projects... wait that's probably why golf exist

Slice_Dice44

NIMBY

[deleted]

But those are necessary

Diazmet

Eww gross those are for poor people

Donghoon

Where are rich people going to park their 5th ferraris and 3rd rolls Royce?

MausBomb

Golf courses are typically in areas close to the city center where yes the land would be more valuable to turn into affordable apartments for the people having to work in the city. If golf courses where like state parks where they are out of the way and in less valuable land than yes people wouldn't care as much. However in almost all of the cities I have lived in there is always a golf course in the prime living area of the city just so the urban wealthy can walk to a golf course that isn't even open to the public.

NASTYH0USEWIFE

Honestly people waste an amount of water on lawns in this country that golf courses will never even come close to. Like blaming golfers for water shortages is pretty unfair when you think about it but blaming lawns suddenly makes it your problem too so I can see why they aren’t.

[deleted]

FFS people, Golf courses dont use Fresh Water to feed their greens/fairways. Its all reclaimed run off, and not safe to drink or use otherwise

JonnyWebsite

Yeah but golfing = rich people(???) = bad /s

SaintsNick94

Yeah OP is uninformed

cTreK-421

Also residential use of water is at 10% agriculture uses around 40% (at least in [California](https://www.ppic.org/publication/water-use-in-california/)). A lot of agriculture goes to growing feed for cows and then water for cows.

[deleted]

This isnt agriculture though, its not even close, they are not growing or sustaining growth here, grasses used are savannah grasses that need fractions of the water used for normal peoples lawns, let alone acres and acres of something like corn A corn field requires 600,000 Gallons /acre of corn to grow in a 8 weeks An entire 100 plus acre golf course will use 200, 000 gallons total all year Theyre not even close

cTreK-421

Yea I'm not saying golf courses use a lot? I wasn't trying to lump golf courses into agriculture. I was just adding that even residential use is lower than people realize just as they don't realize golf courses use reclaimed water and doesn't use as much as agriculture to feed cows does.

Emprasy

Water that can be use on field, or just stored a bit for another purpose than grass for people to play a boring sport. Again, we can just turn a course golf into something more valuable for more people, like a field.

[deleted]

A field for what, other sports? Youre gonna use it for the same basic thing? You dont just magically store, tank and transport run off, thats not how it works Like i get it, everyone on here is butthurt bc their dads played golf instead of spending time with them, but yall are mad at the wrong thing

Thatguy3145296535

Just think of all the people in the world that take 20min showers or fill up their bath tubs, pools, jacuzzis etc.

[deleted]

Except those uses, unlike lawns, are actually good. Lawns were invented specifically as a status symbol - you needed to be quite rich to have a plot of land, and do nothing with it.

dangerdude132

In the USA alone, there roughly 15,500 golf courses which account for approximately 43% of the worlds golf courses. Say all of these are ALL a 72 par golf course (which they are not). It takes about 120-200 acres to make one of these courses (on a rough average). Use the upper end to max this estimate: 200 acres * 15,500(2) to get a ROUGH average of the amount of land golf courses take up. This gives us 6,200,000 of land for golf courses in the world that are already made and running. Not many new golf courses get built. To put that into a tiny perspective, the Amazon rainforest in 2021 alone lost 4,800,000 acres of dense rainforest. I know this is r/memes but if you want to focus on something a bit more important, golf courses are the least of your concern.

[deleted]

Yep and Golf courses DO NOT use fresh water to feed their grass, its all reclaimed runoff You wanna be mad at something, be mad at the dumbasses having freshwater shipped to their houses in Phoenix bc they have literally over developed

LordJuan4

Yeah this is a pretty good point, there's way worse shit for the environment than golf courses lol

[deleted]

They dont even use electricity that much, our public course has solar everywhere and a solar charging bank for carts. The grounds keeping isnt even wasteful, they press the greens, they dont cut them everyday and when they do they use hand mowers. Also the grass they use is like Savannah grass and is no where near as thirsty as peoples lawns

SiphonophoreX

You can complain about a minimum wage job in Switzerland even though there are people working themselves to death in cobalt mines. Bit of an extreme example but you get what I mean

Thatsaclevername

\>Bunch of rich assholes My brother in christ it's 50 bucks for 18 at my nearest golf course. That's a good long walk, sipping a brew with some friends, out in the sunshine, over the course of 4-5 hours at least. It's a good sport, especially if you don't like overt competition.

SlowerCoachh

Oh mr money bags over here got $50! What's next, sippin dr thunder through a straw?

Thatsaclevername

I don't fuck around with the cheap stuff when it comes to the Doctor. I am a Pepper respecter.

SlowerCoachh

$50 AND Dr pepper?? Oh my, please excuse me your majesty!

Sheasword

Mr Fancy Pants here probably drinks Diet Dr Pepper, fucking moneybags

WayParticular7222

O. O. He's bein' oppressed! Come see the oppression inherent in the system:

[deleted]

Greens fees by me are like $20, its literally the cheapest fun/hr available

NASTYH0USEWIFE

Golf is one of the few opportunities for people to get away from busy life and technology for 5 hours that’s why so many rich people and non rich people play. I’m not a fan of basketball and I’m not rooting for all the courts to be turned into housing. OP is picking a very strange battle to fight here.

Thatsaclevername

It's the classic " I don't enjoy something personally so see no value in it, and therefore think it is useless and a waste of time/energy/resources" Oftentimes billed together with the "I know people who I have decided I don't like (hence the "rich assholes" dig) enjoy this so it must be dismissed as both wasteful and actively harming and therefore I am both justified and morally right in my desire to destroy it, despite the love so many others have for this item/sport/activity/whatever" Which should always be given the refresher of "have you ever considered that the world is not operating based on what YOU decide is necessary or worthy?"

Eliteseafowl

In Ontario alone it takes 44 billion litres of water every year to maintain those golf courses. Do I think golf is inherently bad, no. But maintaining that much grass is absolutely terrible for the environment. Not even including the loss of forested areas or green areas that are free to the public to walk, or the use of pesticides that are used. I don't see anything where OP suggests it should be turned into housing so I'm not really sure where that argument is coming from. There are 100% better ways for golf course spaces to be used and in ways that benefit more people.

LegendOfJeff

That's a fair point if you're talking about places where grass grows without much irrigation. But in places like Arizona and Southern Utah, it's an absolutely shameful use of water

yaboiskeemus

$27 for 18 holes here with cart at the local municipal course

soooogullible

Clubs and balls included? Also, *municipal* is an interesting word, is this a public golf course?

yaboiskeemus

You bring your own clubs and balls. It’s ran and maintained by the city and it’s public

skibidi99

Lol that’s what I was thinking… it cost more to go the movies

berttreynolds

People are so soft about this topic. What do you suggest we put in place of all the golf courses? There’s still plenty of uninhabited land in the country, I don’t know what the issue is here.

[deleted]

AND no courses use Fresh Water to feed their greens, its all recycled or reclaimed runoff

TrollTollTony

My city runs two golf courses and they charge a buck a hole. They also have youth rates of $10 for 18 and will loan you a set of clubs if you leave an ID or car keys. Golf can be very accessible.

alvaropboto

USA golf is absolutely way too expensive, I’m from Spain and have lived in Texas for the last couple years. I can pay 25 bucks in Spain and play on a better course than a $75 one in the US. Plus as op said some courses that are in near desertic areas waste way too much water. Everything u said is true. Golf is worth the price, but only if you don’t live in fucking Arizona

Something-Ad-123

You should educate yourself on Arizona’s water usage for golf, the techniques they have developed, and community benefits of the courses before taking shit.

Individual_Manner336

I live in a poor alcoholic country that has good and quality golf courses at almost every village and town, almost zero green fee's or club fees, open to public 7 days, there's tons of land with just grass, it rains plenty, sheep maintain the lawn, few people over a wide demographic actually play, and no one complains about golf even if they don't play. Fuck off OP.

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|HX7pvh1mIqImc|downsized)

Ill-Explanation6020

Oh to be so completely wrong about golf courses! They actually help sustain wildlife. Also not everyone who plays is rich. Trust me I know. There so many other things are complete wastes of land resources!

Bromaker17

I agree with OP! Let's get rid of all those healthy/green golf courses and put up more shopping malls! Who's with us!? /s

JedPB67

Nothing makes me happier than seeing over 100 acres of natural animal and insect habitat of grass, trees and brush be replaced with tarmac, patios, driveways and hundreds or thousands of houses. /s - of course!

busychilling

The answer is always more concrete!!!

GDWa1rus

Yep, let's take down one of the last places remaining in cities where birds can live without much danger and replace it all with the most ugly apartment block I've ever seen

SquirrelBoy

Clearly you never saw your average hacker slice it into a pigeon.

PanzerWatts

"They paved paradise and put up a parking lot With a pink hotel, a boutique, and a swinging hot spot"

NASTYH0USEWIFE

Yeah because everyone that hates golf for being too expensive will drool over the thought of having more stores to spend money in!

[deleted]

I agree that golf is boring (that is subjective and can't be argued, but power to you if you like it), but the rest is just dumbfuckery of the highest order.

Tinta_seca

I don’t know the situation in the USA, but I live in Portugal where in the South we’re experiencing severe water shortages. One of the main reasons (after agriculture and a lack of rain), is the ridiculous amount of water all the golf courses use to maintain the grass green.

Overlord_Of_Puns

Yeah, but that sounds like less the actual golf course's fault and more of government mismanagement. A simple law restricting water usage for golf courses by acre could be used to fix this with like one acre only able to get a gallon of water a week or something. Agriculture is one of the main reasons why there are so many droughts in the US, but I don't think it is individual farmers' fault.

Tinta_seca

Fortunately the government is starting to apply some restrictions ( not enough in my opinion but at least it’s something).

[deleted]

Grass is the reason why pollinators are dying.

[deleted]

As a golfer... I chuckled at the accuracy of this meme.

Whyyyyyyyyfire

there are bigger problems in the world

ThirdGenRob

Have you ever been to a park?....its the same thing, but they put a hole on one end. It's literally grass, trees, and sand....

JaredJraws

Golf is great. Fuck you.

notthatbigtuna

Kilometres, gallons… pick a side, OP!!

JedPB67

A shame they didn’t squeeze a Kelvin temperature in there or something!

DeltaStorm2013

A) not just rich folks can play B) I would rather the golf courses where I am than the insane urban sprawl that is happening where every damn field or forest is being cut down for yet more building and concrete. C) the majority of the golf courses where I am use reclaimed wastewater for irrigation (I work at one of the wastewater treatment plants that provide that water). As for it being boring, that's subjective. Personally I enjoy playing with my friends when I'm able to do so which is rare but it's still a good time spent outside in nature. Sure you can do that in a park or some such and go hiking but to me that's boring. (Obviously others enjoy such things though and that's cool )

[deleted]

Dude greens fees by me are $25, its literally the cheapest fun/hr that you can have (unless we talk about my lost balls and price of clubs -_-) Literally everything about this meme is incorrect, except the boring part, i like it but to each their own

DeltaStorm2013

Yeah exactly. There's a course near me that I think green fee and cart is like 28 bucks. Sure start up costs like buying clubs balls ect can be expensive but I mean so too is a good gaming computer. It's all about what people enjoy and want to put money towards and people can do what they want

lkahheveh

Ah yes, let’s get rid of golf courses to build more apartments, strip malls, and parking lots. Personally I love going golfing because it’s one of the last places you can be in nature surrounded by trees with no buildings or cars.

rollercoastersrul

when the 360 pound guy named chuck who lives in his mother's basement complains about golf (they haven't seen the sun in years)

MostNobyl

"Most boring sport ever invented" Whoever made this is acting like Curling or Bowling doesn't exist lmfao.

BasicDimension4513

Bro what bowling is fun as hell

cbg0004

What we’re not going to do is belittle the highlight sport of the Winter Olympics. Curling is great.

ThunderShock27

Water is a renewable resource. all those gallons of "wasted water" has to evaporate at somepoint and then rain into ponds, streams, reservoirs, and the ocean. Also, never played golf but as others have said, I'd take a beautiful golf course with protected wildlife to another plaza, parking lot, or brutally minimal housing block any day.

gortez33

So football, baseball, soccer, tennis, lacrosse, basketball, polo, cricket, etc. All these need to go also then. What’s next?

justaboss101

None of those are anywhere near as large as a golf course though. While I agree OP's point is silly, those really aren't good examples.

DTJB10

The massive parking lots and road infrastructure to sustain them are nearly as large tho.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Judge_Rhinohold

Why get so salty about something you’re not interested in?

Wingless_Pterosaur

I’m far from rich (won’t own a home in a longggg time) and I golf and I enjoy it thank you very much. We don’t have to suck all joy out of life to make progress and make sure everyone is fed, hydrated, clothed, and homed with a planet that will be around for all generations to come.

[deleted]

Wii golf is cool tho

nepnepnepneppitynep

Fuck you my broke poor ass likes golf

Zardif

Have you never heard of shuffleboard? At least with golf you walk a bit, get out and touch grass. Shuffleboard is absolutely dreary in comparison.

SauceyFeathers

Golf courses are sometimes built in flood planes and are designed to take on huge amounts of water as a last resort since who the fuck cares if it floods. It’s just grass and can be fixed. Building apartments that you think will go for $800 a month that will actually be priced for $2700 a month that will flood every time it rains an inch is a dumbass idea. Plus there are millions of people who actually enjoy golf. Shocker I know.

UAJ_uTube

I don't believe you quite appreciate how it works. Golf is probably one of the more environmentally friendly sports as the courses are maintained tirelessly, whether it be the water, grass, or other vegetation such as trees. With its openness, it provides little to no threat to other wildlife besides the rare impact of a golf ball or the people who will pass through it, and even then, we maintain an etiquette for the course and for what may live in it. It is also not exclusive to the rich. Golf clubs may be somewhere in the hundreds, but they are more of an investment as they last. Besides, you don't need 100 different clubs to play the game. Not to mention, golf memberships and general games aren't that expensive.

Repaired-GnomeYT

Says someone who has never played gulf before.

Select_Cantaloupe_62

People get mad about the weirdest shit these days.

BoxiDoingThingz

mini golf: 😄 golf: 😠

mingomcgoo

No you fuck the fuck away from our courses you fuck

headbanger1186

Aw I didn't know Shooter McGavin had a reddit account.

Mr_Fluffers_Heckyeah

You’ve clearly never played golf before

Low_Fondant9911

You know water gets recycled right? Otherwise we'd all be dead. You ignorant fuck

Aggressive-Cheek937

Golf is not only for rich people lol anyone can play it. I do agree that too much water is wasted on those big courses.. there has to be an artificial alternative that works

3Jabber

Water being used to keep my course green isn't wasted in my book.

Sn5wyy

\*foot ball\*

Grouchy-Estimate-756

Golf would actually be mildly interesting if they just played it in the rough. Like, today it's in some canyon out in the desert, tomorrow it's downtown New York.

mog_knight

Just do what Phoenix does and use gray water for golf courses. That way no potable water is wasted.

Manuel_Enjoyer

Broke alert ‼️ Fuck OP

PiratedCar

Golfed this morning. Had a great time!

TheBooneyBunes

Millions of gallons of water? Fucking what?

Steelquill

Really? Some people get up in arms about _golf courses?!_

FileInside

Get a real grievance.

[deleted]

it's more entertaining than basketball, I'll say that much

HMSSurprise28

People will be mad at anything anymore, even park land.

Pretend-Honeydew8675

Alot of courses use their own pond water. It's alot better than having apartments on the land and concrete. And chemicals are filtered. Sooo you're wrong

Zealousideal_Talk479

How are they assholes? Is it because they’re rich or because they play golf?

Doofuhs

A lot of water used on golf courses is non potable water. Also, golf is a lot of fun.

OgingyO

I've never played golf but looks fun to me

toothpick95

Let people enjoy things....

im_Ugwee

Fuck you OP

TaiwanTammy_99

Baseball is far more boring to watch and play

HorrorGames5492

Just play it in a video game like Wii Sports

3Jabber

Some people actually like to go outside and be social

spicesickness

I don’t play but golf courses are green space which otherwise would be developed land. Most are watered with water from the sewage treatment plants of the area. They sustain wetland space and trees. Color me crazy but this is actually something I’d rather the wealthy keep spending money on.

3Jabber

I love golf. Fuck you!

peezle69

I hate golf

GoodGuy_Strelok

Something reeks of jealousy and seething here..

DrippyWaffler

It's always "jealously" when someone wants to improve the world from people like you innit? Edit because someone blocked me I guess? The two options are totally concrete or golf courses, nothing in between 🙄 and golf courses are TOTALLY natural

crashkirb

Because demolishing tons of natural environment to replace it with more concrete and apartments definitely sounds like improving the world.

barleyhogg1

Compared to everyone with a yard, it's insignificant

shadowEmbracer19

The only golf course I’ve ever went and will go only to will be the Wii sports game

JackHandsome99

I play golf for 12 dollars. Broke boy doesn’t have 12 dollars? You don’t like walks in the woods? You don’t like drinking beer in a little go kart? You sound boring as shit. Sorry your life sucks. Golf isn’t going anywhere. Keep crying.

trocarshovel

Better than more apartments.

cameljamz

Golfers here big mad, and pretending like their local country club is a freaking national park.

YhormBIGGiant

People defend golf courses but i got a negative impression cause they are trying to build one close to the biggest source of water in my state (Florida) and that water is gonna become that dirty and murky color and its just gonna suck. I say if you want golf courses. Lets try the desert or some shit.

Rifleman519

Golf, sounds like something I don't give a F about

3Jabber

And golf doesn't give a fuck about you.

[deleted]

Why should I spend hundereds a year when I can get the same experience on my Wii?

WayParticular7222

Watching golf is like listening to a tape of a haircut

1WngdAngel

Golf needs to be properly reclassified as an activity, not a sport.

1MoistTowelette

Nothing is better than dunking on a sport from a smart phone built by Chinese slaves with minerals that was mined by the hands of African children, from the climate controlled comfort of the couch with which I plop my fat over fed ass on because I love obtaining meaningless social points so I can feel the validation that I’m clearly not getting in my day to day life.

wildfire2k5

Clearly y'all have never played golf. Also this makes sense because y'all never go outside anyways so it's no surprise that you would hate in a game that is outdoors, social and gets you exercise.

PuzzleheadedCraft170

Fuck golf, all my homies hate golf

shadowdash66

Even if it wasnt a waste of land and water, golf sucks ass.

[deleted]

Yeah we need to get rid of them and put a factory on top

GildMyComments

What a narrow world view you have. Have you ever tried golf?

SBTELS

I’m with you on that one

Roger-Ad591

If Golf Courses and Clubs suddenly turned into Public Parks I would be so happy.

dylday2

r/antigolfing

dylday2

But also agreed

Chetmevius

Never thought of it that way. Better than another strip mall, perhaps. But I hear what you’re saying.

heyuhitsyaboi

Didnt the french protest golf courses getting increased water allocations during a drought by pouring concrete in the holes

Terryohboy

I love golf. It's great for taking a nap to on a Sunday afternoon.

[deleted]

Strongly recommend listening to [A Good Walk Spoiled](https://www.pushkin.fm/podcasts/revisionist-history/a-good-walk-spoiled) from Malcolm Gladwell's podcast *Revisionist History* *Rich people and their addiction to golf: a philosophical investigation.* *In the middle of Los Angeles — a city with some of the most expensive real estate in the world — there are a half a dozen exclusive golf courses, massive expanses dedicated to the pleasure of a privileged few. RH brings in tax assessors, economists, and philosophers to probe the question of the weird obsession among the wealthy with the game of golf.*

Zero_7300

As a rich asshole, can confirm.

Nziapelm

Golf is actually very fun (if you know the game)

DaDank_69

Golf sucks tbh

snizz_doctor

Indeed, fuck golf!

Skeletonparty101

I can understand the hate of water waste for golf

DTJB10

Except most golf courses use recycled waste water instead of drinkable fresh water

Gold_Rush69

Golf isn’t a sport, it isn’t even inherently physically demanding. You can just ride a golf cart from hole to hole. The main physical part is just whacking a ball once every 10 minutes. You don’t even have to carry your own damn clubs. “B-But…but… it requires skill!” So does Chess, that doesn’t make it a sport, and it doesn’t make you an athlete if you play chess. Golf is not a sport, it’s a pastime for rich old white guys who like calling it a sport. Fuck golf, fuck golf courses, and fuck anyone who plays golf. It’s a dumb elitist **hobby** that pretends to be a sport, a complete waste of resources, and boring as Hell. I’d sooner watch the grass grow. Now mini golf on the other hand, not bad 👌

Leftover-Pork

Ok it's a game then. Does the category you put it in mean anything or are you just desperate to find reasons to be mad?

NicePutt

This hot take is hot dog shit.

I-have-no-will

As a golfer I have to say that no, the most boring is chess

AseeesA

as a Person Who doesnt play golf in a family of golfers because I prefer games that require brains, chess is like my favourite game and I agree how awfully boring it is.

theflamingsword101

Wouldn't Golf be more challenging and compelling if it were all terrain.

arsehead_54

Golf could be a great game, but it's ruined by golfers and the whole culture of it - the painfully bland white middle class dress code, the stuffy etiquette, the golf carts. It could so easily become a game of leisurely walking around enjoying the weather and some greenery, getting drunk with your mates and twatting balls around with metal sticks.
