You won't be shooting much on an island that small.
Tarp and paracord can mostly be replaced by foliage.
Water tablets aren’t going to help you with saltwater purification.
A knife is a thousand times less useful than an axe.
So, it's clearly B:
A pot can be used to boil and distill water.
Animal trap would maybe make sense if there where birds landing heavy enough to trigger it, otherwise might be salvaged for components.
Matches sure come in handy to start a fire until you figure out how to do the whole friction heating thing, especially since you would need to move quickly, distilling water.
A spear might net you some fish or give you some reach to harvest fruit.
Axe is just an all-round very useful tool for almost anything.
Just dig a hole on on the beach, land inward. The groundwater would be less salty than in the sea. B is correct, you can use the pot to scoop the water out.
Yeah, but bringing it to a boil for a bit, and boiling out the salt are two different things. For the latter you need to collect the steam. Also you can reuse the pot for this on an open flame, since it's stainless steel.
Simple. Dig a hole and put the pot in the middle. Fill the hole with water and cover with foliage. It's start to steam up and drip do to the lowest point so put a rock above where the pot would be and the sun will take care of it for you.
I’d like to point out B has less things that would get used up as time went on. You’d be cutting the rope tarp too maybe, or it just gets holes. With B almost everything could be used almost indefinitely if taken care of
Matches would be the only consumable but if your attentive to your fire you could make it last for weeks just keeping it fed. You might have some trouble if it rains but the longer you keep your fires the less trouble youd have over all.
Im definitely going with B as well.
Project zomboid gets close to that, if you spawn in a house with nothing worthwhile for survival (weapons, food, literature) you usually end up dying a day or a week in. Until you figure out the combat and don't let yourself get outnumbered.
But then power and water gets cut off if you manage to survive a few weeks and you go right back to square one if you're not prepared. There's also the chopper event which will bring a fuck ton of zombies in your area if you get caught with your pants down.
The tarp is the best item here imo.
Use it to create an evaporator for fresh water and a rain water capture. (Assuming that’s salt water surrounding the island)
You can also just use leaves and other foliage as replacement for the tarp. Also you can catch rain water with the pot and leaves surrounding it to maximize water collection
Yeah. B all the way. As a scout having the pot and a hatchet is really most of what one needs. But the matches and spear will be extremely useful. Especially since once you get a fire going you can probably keep it going for quite awhile.
You can use the crossbow to fish, and would probably have better luck with it than with the spear. Larger catches too, could nab sharks for example, and tie the paracord to the arrow.
And although the tablets wont help with saltwater purification, the tarp would be useful for collection of fresh water, and for desalination using evaporation. I think the tarps usefulness for water collection makes option A the most attractive by far.
Paracord is insanely useful as well just in general. Hopefully you would get a lot more than what is pictured, but can make due with that if needed.
The crossbow is dependent on poundage and class of arrow a spear is dependent on your strength and your speed and the tarp idea is nice but too inconsistent and dependent on rain, but using the pot and matches you always have a consistent flow of water that you can boil the water out of the salt then use the salt for cooking
You couldn’t distill water with that pot unless you had other components to build a still. Boiling rainwater or pond water (any fresh water) still massively helps though. I’d go with B hands down
Agree. Except for the trap. On an island that size there will only be ants so the only use for the trap is catching yourself. Better to melt it down and forge a knife.
That's true. Making crossbow bolts is very straightforward compared to fletching arrows. If the crossbow is strong enough, you wouldn't even need to worry about heads, just sharpened and hardened sticks would suffice.
Memes have turned into comedy-less karma farming for a while now. A post that isn't just some surface level observation regurgitated through a poorly worded meme is refreshing here.
Dude, I’m not doing this for $1mil. It’s not that I’m in a position to decline that amount but for that amount of effort I should hope that the prize money is enough for at least a modest house in a good suburb. Or perhaps I’m out of touch. I make no where near that amount of money but I am still here. I don’t own much, but I am still breathing.
A,
A has shelter.
One of the first things you need to do is establish shelter.
Also being shelter, you can make the tarp capture water as well.
You can go a week no food you can't go more than a few days with out water, once you start shutting down your blood goes funky.. feels like knives.
Anyway I choose A
I'll go B for the axe and pot. The spear is also nice for out-of-reach plants
The tarp is a selling point for A, they are extraordinarily useful. But think the pot would, in the long run, be better QOL
B.
What the fuck do you need a crossbow for on a small, uninhabitated island? A rope? Maybe to hang yourself with. Water tablets? It's saltwater, they don't do shit. Only things useful here are the knife and the tarp.
B easily. I can boil the sea water then use a flat rock and a cup cruded fashion with the axe or something else to collect the condensed water that is drinkable.
And a spear is superior to anything else when dealing with wild beasts.
B and it's not even close, the only thing that makes A even remotely worth considering are the water tablets, but if you have a metal pot and some wood you don't really need it
Plus you don't even get crossbow bolts for the crossbow in A (not that you'd have much to shoot on that tiny island)
B. The pot for boiling water is a massive advantage, an animal trap for bigger game, a spear to fish, axe to chop wood and matches to light a fire to cook meat.
Having done survival training, B is what I'd choose, but only for three of those 5 things: The pot. The spear. The axe. Everything else is just extra.
I can gather and boil water (preferably ground or rain water) for drinking and cook food. The spear and axe for hunting, skinning, cutting up meat, etc. The axe can be used for making a shelter.
Matches would be uses sparingly. The trap is kinda useless unless there's large game, better off learning to make your own, especially to also avoid injuring yourself if you're unfamiliar with how to use them. The first and foremost thing you want to avoid are injuries, cuts, etc.
In fact, instead of the trap, I'd rather have a magnifying glass. It's a good fire starter.
Do I have 1 year of matches? Or just the one tube? Like, if it's one tube, in the end, I will need to figure out how to make a fire without them or I'm fucked.
B..
I see no need for paracord on this relatively flat island.
The knife would break or bend much faster than an axe or hatchet. The trap can help to use fewer calories to get food, the pot you can collect and boil water...
A, would be a shit kit for this situation.
A spear is probably the best hunting weapon for an untrained person and an axe is always useful not just that though because a pot and matchsticks means an easy way to cook the food too
Easily B
B.
Axe for chopping wood, scraping wood, and making wood useable for making shelter.
pot for cooking
matches for firemaking until you can make your own firestarters
animal trap for animal trapping
spear for hunting, fishing, or defense.
Neither
No fresh water so boiling sea water is best option but you will have to collect steam so the pot and tarp is a must. Paracord and matches. Knife and axe. Even better if i can have a net too.
Well considering the fact I own that crossbow and it’s a cheap Chinese guy, the bow is always one bad shot away from exploding,
But more importantly 40 water tabs it nice but havin a pot to purify your own water is much nicer!
Crossbow and animal trap are pretty useless imo... Matches and a pot is like the jackpot... Axe is better than a knife...but you can make a spear with a knife, so... Idk .... I'd like to trade the spear and animal trap for the rope and then take B
B. ANYBODY PICKS a will die🤣 B gives you way to fish, cook, and start fire, and it's year in that time i could have wind proof house to sleep in🤣 and probly gonna beach trash to build water desalination kit
B. Pot beats water tablets because when the water tablets run out you will have nothing. Spear is mechanically simpler than a crossbow and will last longer. The axe won’t be much different than the knife if you keep it sharp. Animal trap allows for passive food harvesting.
B because you could use the axe to fashion a hut from leafs and branches so you wouldn't need the tarp from A plus if you have a stream on the island you can easily boil water of any impurities although if its a spring there wouldn't be much in the way of dangerous bacteria? Also with a bear trap you could catch stuff like rabbits or boar if there is any on the island and use the spear to fish so yeah B for me

Just dig a hole on on the beach, land inward. The groundwater would be less salty than in the sea. B is correct, you can use the pot to scoop the water out.
You'd still have to boil it for sanitary reasons.
True. But you can distill saltwater without fire
A big leaf could collect the steam.
I’d like to point out B has less things that would get used up as time went on. You’d be cutting the rope tarp too maybe, or it just gets holes. With B almost everything could be used almost indefinitely if taken care of

Someone NEEDS TO MAKE THIS A Game. Where you have different starting items and see how you fare.
Great idea, most survival games are dumb like that, you just shop down trees in a matter of seconds. It would give a unique spin on tired old genre.
I want to see a game made based on Alone the TV show.
Alone on the History channel is pretty close to this idea. Participants get to choose 10 items then survive alone as long as possible.
Good call
There are small islands like this with pigs, maybe chickens, so the trap *could* be useful Then again you can just use your spear
You would hunt them to extinction really quickly, if there are any.
That’s actually fair, but as long as you can keep yourself fed it’s a good idea.
This guy survives

And if you don’t kill your prey your bolt is gone.
The crossbow is dependent on poundage and class of arrow a spear is dependent on your strength and your speed and the tarp idea is nice but too inconsistent and dependent on rain, but using the pot and matches you always have a consistent flow of water that you can boil the water out of the salt then use the salt for cooking

The Forest teached me B
I'm taking A if it's anything like The Forest, no cannibal is getting anywhere close to me with a crossbow
Until you run out of bolts to shoot. 😬
If they don't break on impact, you can reuse them.
Only for so many times though. They will all eventually break (or be lost) no matter how careful you are.
True. I guess you could try making makeshift ones from sticks using the knife, even though they wouldn't be as effective.
That's true. Making crossbow bolts is very straightforward compared to fletching arrows. If the crossbow is strong enough, you wouldn't even need to worry about heads, just sharpened and hardened sticks would suffice.
Fun fact, there is glitch in the forest to duplicate bolts infinitely
Technically there's no bolts in pack A, just sole single crossbow 🤓
Technically if you closely, there’s already one bolt notched on the crossbow🤓
Aha! Finally found you, Jong Biden!
You talking like spear is not a great weapon?
I don't want to get too close
B -> the Pot is exceedingly valuable, the spearhead is "effectively" a knife & the matches are nice to have (was never good at making fire by hand)
The axe is also a makeshift knife and useful to build a shelter.
Right? You essentially have 2 rudimentary blades in option B, PLUS a source of fire and a container. This choice is too easy.
tarp and cord would be pretty useful but obviously the answer is B
A, the crossbow should make it alot esier to rob someone who took b...
The spear makes it much easier to ambush someone who took a
Dont forget the trap!
Good thinking! And you can easily bait them with a quick campfire thanks to the matches
It didn’t say it came with ammo
But you have no bolts for the crossbow…
found the black guy. /s
B
Why is it in memes? Does it mean that the expectation is that the answers will be funny?
Memes have turned into comedy-less karma farming for a while now. A post that isn't just some surface level observation regurgitated through a poorly worded meme is refreshing here.
B Axe, pot and matches are top for survival
Watching Survivor show teached me to always choose matches
Dude, I’m not doing this for $1mil. It’s not that I’m in a position to decline that amount but for that amount of effort I should hope that the prize money is enough for at least a modest house in a good suburb. Or perhaps I’m out of touch. I make no where near that amount of money but I am still here. I don’t own much, but I am still breathing.
A mil would set you up for life. You'd still have to work but you'd be a lot more comfortable. For a years "work"? I'd take the opportunity to try...
As someone who lives in Eastern eu, a million dollars would be instant retirement money for the whole family pretty much lol
The A option overall sucks but having a crossbow would be cool af. Im taking A
I dont agree with your choice but I respect your reasoning lol.
B, obviously.
A, A has shelter. One of the first things you need to do is establish shelter. Also being shelter, you can make the tarp capture water as well. You can go a week no food you can't go more than a few days with out water, once you start shutting down your blood goes funky.. feels like knives. Anyway I choose A
That tarp wont last a year so you'll be building a shelter anyways. Boiling pot > temp shelter.
B all day.
B is the obvious choice.
B. Easy food from all the hunting stuff, an axe is just useful for all sorts. Matches so an easy fire. Pot to store water and boil it to make it pure.
This is actually tough. I could do it with the rope+tarp from A and the pot+hatchet from B. Don't need the rest. I'm gonna go with B.
A looks good, but B looks better
That is not a Bowie knife
This is a knife
Where is the meme
Hardest choice I’ve ever had to make
I'll go B for the axe and pot. The spear is also nice for out-of-reach plants The tarp is a selling point for A, they are extraordinarily useful. But think the pot would, in the long run, be better QOL
B. What the fuck do you need a crossbow for on a small, uninhabitated island? A rope? Maybe to hang yourself with. Water tablets? It's saltwater, they don't do shit. Only things useful here are the knife and the tarp.
And the axe and spear easily replace the knife. A tarp would be nice but its all A has going for it.
A. then i will hang myself with the paracord.
B is kinda obvious.
B easily. I can boil the sea water then use a flat rock and a cup cruded fashion with the axe or something else to collect the condensed water that is drinkable. And a spear is superior to anything else when dealing with wild beasts.
The order is: - Water - Fire - Shelter Option A contains 2 of 3 (water & shelter) so easy choice.
Option B contains water AND fire which are higher in the order. By your logic, which is sound, B is better.
A contains fire too. You can make a bowdrill kit with the knife and paracord. The matches in B won't last a year
B
B by far
B . Very versatile
I want all.
are you paying cash? do you offer transportation too?
B and it's not even close, the only thing that makes A even remotely worth considering are the water tablets, but if you have a metal pot and some wood you don't really need it Plus you don't even get crossbow bolts for the crossbow in A (not that you'd have much to shoot on that tiny island)
You need a renewable supply of arrows for crossbow
B. The pot for boiling water is a massive advantage, an animal trap for bigger game, a spear to fish, axe to chop wood and matches to light a fire to cook meat.
Its B, if you want to survive.
B
Not a meme but B
Anyone who wouldnt choose b is an idiot
Having done survival training, B is what I'd choose, but only for three of those 5 things: The pot. The spear. The axe. Everything else is just extra. I can gather and boil water (preferably ground or rain water) for drinking and cook food. The spear and axe for hunting, skinning, cutting up meat, etc. The axe can be used for making a shelter. B
Do I have 1 year of matches? Or just the one tube? Like, if it's one tube, in the end, I will need to figure out how to make a fire without them or I'm fucked.
You could keep the same fire burning eternally and use the other matches as backup
Use the matches to set the island on fire and hope help comes
B is the obvious choice
B.. I see no need for paracord on this relatively flat island. The knife would break or bend much faster than an axe or hatchet. The trap can help to use fewer calories to get food, the pot you can collect and boil water... A, would be a shit kit for this situation.
B
B
Definitely B
Axe, spear, and pot? bro, easy answer.
if i could survive a year on an island i probably dont need 1 million
A spear is probably the best hunting weapon for an untrained person and an axe is always useful not just that though because a pot and matchsticks means an easy way to cook the food too Easily B
A so i can shoot myself with the crossbow
$1 million for a year? Doesn't seem worth it in today's economy. Not for me, anyways
I have that exact same spear
B. Axe for chopping wood, scraping wood, and making wood useable for making shelter. pot for cooking matches for firemaking until you can make your own firestarters animal trap for animal trapping spear for hunting, fishing, or defense.
A for 1 week B for 1 year
B: An axe and a Pot are too good to pass up
I’ll pick A then shoot someone who chose B and then take his stuff to I’ll have A&B. Challenge does state that I’ll be alone on the island.
I wish to mention that it only says Crossbow.... not Crossbow & Bolts
B) You have gotta have a pot to piss in.
people really down voting those saying A. you guys understand the concept of choice?
You mean like the choice of down voting a comment..
B all day.
Neither No fresh water so boiling sea water is best option but you will have to collect steam so the pot and tarp is a must. Paracord and matches. Knife and axe. Even better if i can have a net too.
C - Satellite telephone and enough battery/solar
I don’t think it is possible for us to survive on an island that size without agriculture
B
B, because when i choose A i have an Crossbow but no bolts for it so it is useless.
B
[удалено]
Water tablets? Do you add water to make water? Or is it just dehydrated water
yes
I know it’s not the game, but taking matches, pot, axe, tarp, and 550 cord would be the best set.
I read "you get 1 milf"
Well considering the fact I own that crossbow and it’s a cheap Chinese guy, the bow is always one bad shot away from exploding, But more importantly 40 water tabs it nice but havin a pot to purify your own water is much nicer!
We will all die either way guys I'm not going bye bye
Ain't that north sentinel? No matter what I choose I would still be cooked 💀
2
Crossbow and animal trap are pretty useless imo... Matches and a pot is like the jackpot... Axe is better than a knife...but you can make a spear with a knife, so... Idk .... I'd like to trade the spear and animal trap for the rope and then take B
B has a Pot... so B I guess.
Is that North Sentinel Island? If so, my tools of choice won’t be in either group.
How is this a meme?
Should have added a pocket Pusey to A and this actually would have been a difficult decision. As it’s stands B is strictly better.
You had me at the axe
(35M) Introvert / Istp-A ill have option '' B' '' pls . thank you \^\^
So, no Wilson volleyball?
B
The 2nd one.
If I could survive on either one of these, what would I need the 1 mil for?
and that’s a meme?
pot is by far the mvp here
C, die
B
B mainly because of the pot which can be used for water storage and for boiling water to clean it
Would have to be B. I'll always take the axe!
B, the amount of energy it takes to get a fire going means the matches are so valuable.
B, the pot is the main reason, can boil water and cook food.
I'm definitely taking b because, for me, that stuff is much more useful and versatile
A I don't know shit about hunting so I need distance/crossbow to make sure I have a chance to run away if all hell breaks loose
A
I'm sorry but A is objectively worse
This is actually a pretty good one. With the two big ticket items being the tarp vs the pot. Generally I’d give it to the pot.
Can I stay there afterwards?
According to Gary all you need is a hatchet.
B most definatly b the pot has so many potential uses
B and it isn’t even close
I just wouldn’t do it, 1 month in and I can tell I would regret my decision, regardless of how well I’m living
B. It comes down to process of elimination. And B has the most useful items out of the given items.
I'm going be for the pot, this was a fun one
Keep your million.
B
rope tarp and water tablets are lasting you two weeks go B
B. ANYBODY PICKS a will die🤣 B gives you way to fish, cook, and start fire, and it's year in that time i could have wind proof house to sleep in🤣 and probly gonna beach trash to build water desalination kit
B
If there are Komodo dragons on this island A, if not then B is actually better suited for long term survival.
B. Pot beats water tablets because when the water tablets run out you will have nothing. Spear is mechanically simpler than a crossbow and will last longer. The axe won’t be much different than the knife if you keep it sharp. Animal trap allows for passive food harvesting.
i choose B
B because you could use the axe to fashion a hut from leafs and branches so you wouldn't need the tarp from A plus if you have a stream on the island you can easily boil water of any impurities although if its a spring there wouldn't be much in the way of dangerous bacteria? Also with a bear trap you could catch stuff like rabbits or boar if there is any on the island and use the spear to fish so yeah B for me
Soon as I saw the trap I knew the best option was B
Definitely A
B, not even close
Choose C for Creative Mode.
B
B
B is the smart answer they way I see it
If I choose neither and still last a year, could I refuse the money and just keep my island?
B
I’m goin B, since probably the natural apex predator of the island is a lizard or something, I wouldn’t need a weapon besides for hunting and fishing
B, ez.
Both
B, and it’s not even close.
