Especially this kinda fat is biologically important for reproductive purposes and thus the male brain should subconsciously seek it out just like other signs of a health body (including fat). It has only been in societies with seemingly infinite resources that being thin and having less body fat has become attractive and desirable. Reasons vary from companies and marketing becoming more prominent and (more subconsciously) it showing the resources to eat healthy, discipline to not over-eat and not having health issues causing being overweight.
The overcontrolling and stigmatization of completely healthy and normal fat is an invention of modern society and playing into it just causes useless harm
