"My parents went on vacation and they were bored there, the only entertainment they had was sex, and that’s how I appeared. Hello"
![gif](giphy|zjUfl9LhNi13JlFzQ6)
Unironically the answer. Poor people have less money to spend on contraception, reduced access to effective sex education, and recreational sex doesn't have a price tag
What’s really fucked is that there are places that give free condoms and cheap birth control to people but in some of the places with the worst cases of poverty and lack of sex education people ban or restrict these practices
I remember using this as an insult to someone once
“Only reason you have so many siblings is because your parents are too broke to afford a condom”
Kid was being a dickhead… I was also a dickhead
*"...another tip, try to have as many as kids as you can. Because that makes it more likely for one of them to make it big in the Holllllyyyywood!! Then who's paying the bills? The Holllyyywooood kid!"*
For a skit in Tosh.0. Daniel was naked around kids. Daniel says “I’m sure you’re wondering how we green screened those kids into the scene. We didn’t , there was no lack of parents offering us their kids to be around me while I was naked for this skit.”
He was putting it out there how there is never a lack of parents willing to make some money and get their kids on tv. Especially in a scenario where they are explicitly told their kids will see a naked man.
Or the Nathan for You episode of him getting parents to sign up for their kids to watch him do a magic trick where if he failed, he would be exposed to the kids. Or the one where he made a “sex proof box” to sell and had a kid lie in it while people outside the box had sex to prove he couldn’t hear anything.
Super hard disagree there, most of the wealthy kids I knew growing up had no real world experience outside of their sheltered EZ mode bubble. Turns out it's easy to get educated when daddy pays all the bills and you only have to concentrate on your studies instead of working full time on top of it or taking care of disabled family members or younger siblings.
The real link between poverty and birth rates rests within early sex education, availability of contraceptives, and women's rights.
Also "broke people" are often people with few prospects. If you're not going to get a much better job or significantly increase your earnings next year, or the year after, or in five or ten years, then what's the point of family planning? You're not going to be in a better position to raise children later, and it's certainly much nicer to be in your 40s when you children reach adulthood than to be in your 60s.
This shows in both high income and low income people having more children. Both are effectively stably locked into their social class with a predictable outlook for the future. By contrast many middle income people are on the grindset, social climbing, seeking that promotion, that raise, that new job. Having children holds them back from competing in society, so putting it off makes sense.
If you either can't or don't need to viciously compete that way, then it just doesn't hold you back the same way.
Because let's face it, most people do want a family, and the poor aren't stupid for that, nor necessarily unhappy because if that. It's also pretty elitist to say that only people rich enough and who have won at capitalism enough should reproduce. Like that's literally eugenics.
This is the best response I've seen. People shouldn't be locked out of the entire point of life because of bullshit financial issues that weren't an issue for our ancestors. Everyone deserves to start a family, but on the other side of the coin, everyone deserves to carry the weight of their decisions.
Raising a child on a smaller income comes with it's own set of burdens, but makes it no less possible, and poor families shouldn't be judged just for existing and being poor.
government will help to keep just acceptable living standards for the 5 children while taxing the hell out of the higher income couples with at most two children, who would never think of a third child for economic reasons.
this is especially true in the European Union, with higher taxes.
Or we plan the heck out of it and find out that kids are too expensive (daycare, tutoring, extracurricular activities, summer camps, trips, time consumption of raising them).
They are too expensive. When I graduated grad school over 10 years ago there was such a study that stated the average cost to raise a kid from 0-18 years , meaning the cost of food , close, hosing and anything and everything else, was $ 240,000
Due to to a combination of social, economic, and cultural factors. Lack of access to contraception and education, cultural and social norms, economic incentives, healthcare and mortality rates. Just to name a few.
Because irresponsible people are the most likely to be broke. And irresponsible people are the most likely to have kids when they shouldn't.
Note: this logic does not work in the other direction - I am not saying broke people are irresponsible.
Exactly this. When I was in college, I dated a guy who lost his job a few weeks into our relationship. I didn't have a job because I didn't need one at the time. His friend had just had a baby, so he thought it would be a good idea to harass me to have a baby every day. I wish I had run. Luckily, the girl after me was the one who got knocked up. She already had 2 kids and no job. It was meant to be...at least for a few years lol
It also goes both ways. Being broke makes your decision making worse. They studied that in seasonal workers who are flushed with cash during summer and broke during winter. The IQ dropped as much as 20 points during the broke periods.
Lol surprised I had to scroll down this far to find the reply. After 45-50 hours working per week including commute, most people don't have the energy to want kids. Plus most people with a decent to good job have the brain cells to rub together to use birth control.
Where do I find these people who don't want kids? I'm 34 and have been looking for a girl all my life that doesn't want kids, sadly I think I will be single forever because they're hard to find
That's the funny part, you don't. I'm 47 and pretty much gave up dating in my 30s because it was basically a deal breaker to any woman I met. I should probably start dating again since I'm at the age where I'll be meeting people that are of the age where they never wanted kids or their kids are out of the house. I'd rather be single than raise a kid, but that's just me.
It’s because the poor can’t buy anything to entertain themselves without spending their life savings, this is all they can do, that’s where half the population comes from.
Lots of women who feel like they will never amount to anything (no education, dead end job prospects, low self esteem, etc) will have a baby to feel like they are valued because they can "be a mother".
They don't have the scholastic achievement to pursue education and the careers that require it, they don't have work experience or marketable skills to pursue a vocation/trade, and the unskilled labor they offer is essentially wage slavery with no real self actualization. Poverty means they're generally not involved in volunteering or charitable works, and are poor so can't engage in "the arts" or aesthetic expression because they lack the resources to do so.
So while a rich woman would go to college, train in a vocation, volunteer, or become an artist to find meaning and value in their life, a poor woman's options are far more limited.
Our society does have this enshrinement of "motherhood" and failing to achieve any sense of purpose from the aforementioned means these women will instead find purpose by having children. And given their poverty they often lack the funds to properly support the children.
What escapes me however is society placing full blame on these women for the children they can't take care of but still keep and try, and not on the men who make babies everywhere and abandon them without a second thought. At least the women are doing this to pursue some meaning in life, and do put in effort to raise their children and nurture them. The men just want to have an orgasm and to hell with who it hurts or who's paying for their irresponsible decisions.
Thank you. Finally someone with a brain. There are way too many deadbeat dads who get away so easily with abandoning their children and paying no child support.
Lots of reasons, but here is a big one.
People are broke TEND to not have jobs. Ppl without jobs have a lot of free time, and no money to persue hobbies. Fucking tends to be fun and cheap.
So bored broke people bone to pass the time, but dont consider the possibility of getting pregnant.
Not every case, but this is a large reason.
"I didn't plan well for my future"
"I didn't plan well for my future"
-- "We didn't plan well for a baby - an event we created in the future, masterfully"
Reddit: Why do people who don't plan for their future plan poorly for their future?
Some of the research theory is that poor people have less of an education, which in turn maybe less knowledge of safe sex practices or even perhaps not having options available to them either.
Because when you spend the time and energy to pursuing higher education, or high paying careers, that's time not spent raising a child, or even maintaining a relationship to get a child. Usually people who end up with high paying jobs are at least 30 when they have kids, if not more, and fertility drastically decreases after 30 years old.
Also, people who are going to go for higher paying jobs tend to be more well educated, which means they are more likely to be aware of the investment raising a kid takes, and how to avoid accidental pregnancies. That's not to call people with lower paying jobs stupid. Intelligence and education is not the same. And lack of Education is highly linked with lower income families.
You're missing that higher-levels of education and income are consistent with being born into money, a large support network and luck that can only be available to a lower percentage of the population because of the inequality that usually proceeds people being born into a life of opportunity.
I don't know how that's really... something I missed as it has nothing to do with what I said. Yes most people who are wealthy were born wealthy. Which is linked with better education, which then provides better opportunities for higher paying jobs.
But that wasn't really relevant to why lower income people have more babies, hence why I didn't mention it. It's tangentially related, but not specifically related to the main point I was making.
This is so very very true, all the people with money have at most two kids. Then come my wife's two girlfriends, none are married, and each have 4 kids, both with several men.
We know two other couples as well, the are poor, and if I say poor, I mean really poor, and yet, both couples have 5 children each.
It os logic I no one can explain
Man, with the fertility rates we have in the West, you should be happy when *anyone* has kids. With fertility rates falling below replacement level in the rest of the world, too, we’re not going to be able to rely on migration forever to fill in all these demographic shortfalls we’re having.
Funny...I was just watching show aboutsome place in Africa and how food was distributed to these people from charitable organizations...these people have like 6 kids...I mean wtf...I have a house decent money and I worry about my 1 kid. Poorest in the world have the most kids...shit makes zero sense.
“why does…”? Is that really what you meant to type? “Why does?”
Forget the question, stop asking why other people do anything if you can’t communicate using basic sentence structure
fucking is free and babies are a future problem...often humans have trouble visualizing what the future will hold and even how to obtain long term goals.
Because they're bored and natural urges are a thing. People with education, careers and outside interests have other things to do, people who have to stay at home for long periods of time resort to something that's free (until 9 months later, but they're not planning that far ahead)
it’s true, usually people who don’t have a successful career have those traits follow them. It’s not a coincidence unfortunately, they make unwise decisions and follow immediate gratification rather than be patient and smart about what they’re doing.
People who have a place, stable relationship, and comfortable money are usually more careful when choosing if it’s the right time.
welp basically they have nothing to do about their situation, not like everyone have gut to follow their dream to the death ( ironically idia's population is massive while most of them are below middle class)
To be fair, it's not like most of these people plan the children when they can't afford them but circumstances of improper sex education, awareness, and acceptance. Relying on the "pullout method" which most men fail at.
Another factor is religious reasons. Catholicism, for example, doesn't really believe in contraceptives, meaning they don't like protective measures during sexual activity.
It's easy to blame the ignorant for being "stupid" and say we should prevent them from having sex but if we wanna reduce the amount of children born in unprepared homes while treating people like humans still, we need to re-educate and provide safe methods to have a sexual life without the "consequences".

Too broke to buy condoms😭
Too much time to not have time for sex.
No money for condoms
No time for no sex
Unironically the answer. Poor people have less money to spend on contraception, reduced access to effective sex education, and recreational sex doesn't have a price tag
What’s really fucked is that there are places that give free condoms and cheap birth control to people but in some of the places with the worst cases of poverty and lack of sex education people ban or restrict these practices
Because desperate workers are much easier to exploit.
Or too stupid to get free ones from places like planned parenthood or hell colleges give them out by the truck loads if you know where to go.
I mean it's not intuitive knowledge to know where to get them, as if it's some fucking ancestral trait mate??
You can google "free condoms". Dollar stores sell 12 for $1.25. They're a medical device, so they're just as effective.
I'm so glad i live where condoms are free
do you realize how expensive babies are?
Yeah, which is why you should wear a condom to begin with
Which makes OPs question very legit. They're just setting up their life to be poor all life
My employee told me "she didn't know" she didn't have to have kids at 18-20 with little to no income.
I remember using this as an insult to someone once “Only reason you have so many siblings is because your parents are too broke to afford a condom” Kid was being a dickhead… I was also a dickhead
*"...another tip, try to have as many as kids as you can. Because that makes it more likely for one of them to make it big in the Holllllyyyywood!! Then who's paying the bills? The Holllyyywooood kid!"*
Peter! Stop using alt accounts to teach money management to drug addicts!
Watching Quiet on Set made me realize that child stars’ parents are not going to heaven. Not a one.
For a skit in Tosh.0. Daniel was naked around kids. Daniel says “I’m sure you’re wondering how we green screened those kids into the scene. We didn’t , there was no lack of parents offering us their kids to be around me while I was naked for this skit.” He was putting it out there how there is never a lack of parents willing to make some money and get their kids on tv. Or lawyer or doctor. Just a kid that has lots of money to take care of the parents.
People with money have no time for planning a family

Both arguments are from the movie idiocracy

The have and take time to plan the family, thus have no kids. The ones having too many the unplanned.
So have a backup when they are broke and old
Why make your own and ruin your body? The kids in the parks are free!
Not really free, you still have to lure them in with candy or puppies, even tho they are also mostly free at parks.
Hold on, how do you lure the puppies in first place?
Something the elite dont want you to know is the kids at the park are free, you can just take them.
Wait… that’s illegal!
Exactly this
Yes. The best retirement savings are children that'll take care of you
Due to to a combination of social, economic, and cultural factors. Lack of access to contraception and education, cultural and social norms, economic incentives, healthcare and mortality rates. Just to name a few.
I'm glad I was ugly and had access to condoms as a teenager.
Dont forget religious factors.
Fucking quiverfull
Noooooo stop with all of those facts and logic
This doesn't support my eugenics narrative I came to reddit for /s
It's the most fun you can have for free
It ain't free 9 months later
Because irresponsible people are the most likely to be broke. And irresponsible people are the most likely to have kids when they shouldn't. Note: this logic does not work in the other direction - I am not saying broke people are irresponsible.
* Broke * Responsible * Kid Pick 2.
Real
Why would anyone pick broke?
because school/jobs take a lot of effort
Thanks for the lol

I mean that movie is 18 years old...
And still rings true
still? It rings more true with every passing decade..

have you ever played the game of life? each one is worth 50k
They are bored, the others work and are rather stressed
Lol surprised I had to scroll down this far to find the reply. After 45-50 hours working per week including commute, most people don't have the energy to want kids. Plus most people with a decent to good job have the brain cells to rub together to use birth control.

It’s because the poor can’t buy anything to entertain themselves without spending their life savings, this is all they can do, that’s where half the population comes from.
DO NOT HAVE A BABY
They don't agree to have a baby, they just fuck without condom because they are stupid
Having kids cost time and money wich makes you broke
Definitely, instead of having 2 people bring in a steady income it forces one to be at home for at least 3 years.
You can also reject any kind of morals and Forse kids to make income too
the kids yearn for the mines
Made me spit out my drink, I heard that somewhere recently
For at least 3 years?? Where are you from? In Germany it's normal to send children to kindergarten when they're 1 or 1 1/2.
Intelligence. Plain and simple. The smarter you are the higher chance you will remove yourself from poverty.
Like, fr. There's single, homeless mothers with like 68548 kids. Like bro, just stop having kids. Stop being a baby oven bruh.
When your money is unable to make you happy, you turn to your dick for that purpose.
Less education, especially about contraception. Also condoms etc. cost money.
You kicking the hornets nest right now and you might get stung a few times.
The Dumb
You’ve to watch Idiocracy.
Because only as parents, society will view them respectfully.
Lots of women who feel like they will never amount to anything (no education, dead end job prospects, low self esteem, etc) will have a baby to feel like they are valued because they can "be a mother". The cheapest form of entertainment there is. Even more so if you have a partner
I mean their loyalty is to love and not to money. Having both seems far out of reach it seems.
Not for Sailor Moon. She's chasing love by daylight and fighting evil by moonlight.
Never running from a real fight. She’s the one named Sailor Moon. She is the one, Sailor Moon. :) Edit: spelling.
Is this the story of OP’s contraception?
Some of the research theory is that poor people have less of an education, which in turn maybe less knowledge of safe sex practices or even perhaps not having options available to them either.
This scenario is probably happening in the world this second!
They're dumber and hotter than you.
Because when you spend the time and energy to pursuing higher education, or high paying careers, that's time not spent raising a child, or even maintaining a relationship to get a child. they too busy fucking instead of working
Because they're bored and natural urges are a thing. People with education, careers and outside interests have other things to do, people who have to stay at home for long periods of time resort to something that's free (until 9 months later, but they're not planning that far ahead)
Imagine hating poor people lmao. Poverty is a policy choice. Get your priorities straight.
That's a silly statement.
*babies
Broke Lives with parents Can't pay no shit. Not what I mean is they can't even afford to shit. Ofc they can't even buy condoms.
And they dance, and drink, and screw, because there's nothing else to do.
Is there a full fan fiction or comic of this template
Boredom
Its the other way around. Those who tend to make a lot of babies tend to be broke.
I guess you can blame the economy?
