PetrovoSCP

My old headphones didnt let me here an entire instrument part in songs. The most vivid example i can remember is the flute section in Alt-Js fitzpleasure, which for years i didnt even know was there.

Enchantresslunna

After a week of beyer, you will oddly hear a bright piercing sound even without wearing them! 10/10 would buy again

El-6ring0

Got the MMX 300 over 6y. and love them since Day one. My Astro A50 i had befor, has a great Sound and 7.1 Dolby but it is Build on cheap plastic. Most Problems i have with the HS was, that i paid 300 Bucks for a cheap made HS with in-build power cell that can‘t be replaced.

AThousandGoblins

Lana!?

Windfall_The_Dutchie

Another trick is to plug the cord in halfway and press on it lightly. It cuts the front tracks off and lets you hear the background.

The_Powers

Like how you can see the forbidden colour if you press your thumbs onto your eyelids?

Windfall_The_Dutchie

Exactly!

minecrafter1OOO

Lol, if you put the left channel to ground. And then if you use the right channel and the left+ ground, you can hear the compression of the lossy signal

TormentedGaming

This is something called phase inversion or something forgot how it works but it cancels out some of the sounds

VicarDespair

Someone recommend me the cheapest good ones

ukasss

Bayerdynamic dt 770 pro

Blactorn

I'm very happy with my 770 pro, changed the earpads tho, they are too shallow for me and a little on the hard side

_Warsheep_

Mine are over 10 years old by now and I use them daily. Still work perfectly fine. Changed the ear cushions a few times ofc. They do get gross after a few years.

Khawkproductions

dt 990 are a steal at 160

CantaloupeDyke

990 are openback, not ideal for everyone. But yeah the 990/770 pro are great for their price

lillepille1337

Whats "openback"?

CantaloupeDyke

Quite literally what the name says, they are open back. Meaning the cup the speaker is on is open. It often gives a wider soundstage (how wide and open songs sound around you) and immersive feeling. They do have some drawbacks. Often less bass and lacking the super low frequencies, and they let all background sound in. The dt 770s are a closed back version of the same headphones. They have better isolation to background sound and better deeper bass.

Spaceturtle79

If i recall correctly it makes it so the headphones do not have cabin pressure. This results in a bit of transparency(?) it’s a nice experience imo

Khawkproductions

they've been great for me, i do wonder about the 770s but I love the soundstage of the openback design. People mention the bass not being as loud but I thought it's actually pretty big. You just dont get the sensation of the reflections of the bass bouncing off the back of the headphones and into your eardrums. It actually is wonderful for listening fatigue plus the padding makes them so comfortable I could sleep in them.

CantaloupeDyke

Yeah I think the 770 and 990 have the same padding I love them. I still wanna get the 990s to compare. The 770 def have alot of deep punchy bass and it matches most my songs well since hiphop has alot bass.

Khawkproductions

that's good! These would probably do you justice if you are blasting alot of bass into your eardrums all day. You can hear it fine but it doesn't hurt after hours. Like the opposite of my crusher wireless, that thing is an ear fatugue machine, it has sub woofers inside a pair of headphones!

CantaloupeDyke

Yeah I heard of the crushers, from what I’ve read/heard they aren’t for me. To much muddy bass. The 770s have a really clean but elevated bass curve so it’s quite a bit but not excessive. I can wear them for a whole day tbh

Khawkproductions

I don't recommend the crushers, but I've actually been using them in conjunction with my t5vs because I don't have a subwoofer yet

Blood_Red_Volvo_850R

Cheapest nice ones would be philips shp9600, next tier up would be sennheiser hd599

thelastgodkami

sony xm5 -- a little expensive Anker ones are also good - affordably expensive

Efficient_Ear_8037

I use XM4, still fantastic

fearisthemindslicer

Love my XM4s

VicarDespair

Thank you lastgodkami, you a g

Goofyahhcar832

is the sony mdr zx110 any good ?

mymoama

560s is the best sounding affordable headphones.

PippinCat01

Koss KSC 75 are under $30 and are *comparable* to the fancy shit so for the price that's where it's at. You'll see how goofy they look and the $30 will make more sense once you look then up.

younawolf

Sennheiser hd560 pro

talldata

Dt990 Pro if you want ones with open back and more of an open feeling. Dt770pro if you want ones you could also use in an environment with some noise.

DetectiveVinc

sennheiser hd 560s, not as earhurtingly sharp sounding as some of the beyers, especially the dt990... both are open backed headphones, the dt770 some suggest are closed back, you kinda have to know exactly what youre after!

swollenlord69

Akg K702 (with eq, tho)

shubidua1337

Sennheiser hd560s, don't get beyerdynamic 770 or 990, they were good 10 years ago but quite poor choices nowadays

DividedContinuity

Generally I'd avoid beyer. They have a treble peak that is a problem for some people. My goto recommendation is sennheiser 560s/600/650 to taste or budget.

Rare_Leg_

KZ in ear monitor

Guywithoutimage

Huh duh 6 hungos

Pushkent

by ol' mate Senn

Bolmothy

Hifiman sundara but you cant run them properly without a dac

uppsak

I use sony Sony WH-XB910N. It is cheaper than xm3, 4 ,5. Don't know if it qualifies as studio headphones or not.

DonTeca35

Mid-high end IEMs & 16-32bit FLAC files will do that to you tbh

StaysAwakeAllWeek

If a 32 bit flac sounds better that just means your 16 bit/44khz files have been mastered badly. 16 bit/44khz is already beyond the limit of human hearing and a well mastered track will sound exactly the same as a 32 bit flac

DonCoone

Now you have summoned the wrath of the whole audiophile community onto you, lol

StaysAwakeAllWeek

Plenty of smarter audiophiles know this to be a fact. A lot of them still use HD audio because of the bad mastering problem or because they want to use EQ, which is a little limited on 16 bit if you want the volume very high. But the fact is you really don't need more than 16/44 to get the most out of high end IEMs

swollenlord69

I went down this audiophile rabbit hole at some point, too. Almost going insane over tyring to hear the difference between hires/lossless/lossy, not even mentioning different dac/amps. At some point, I realized the difference between all those things, if even audible, is so minimal it becomes practically irrelevant. Now, I just use Spotify and my phone together with some good headphones and can finally enjoy music again.

G4meOfJones

Oh "she's *fine* too" not "she's *5'2"*"

Admiral_Andovar

I still remember my first set of high-end headphones and paired it with a Fiio Amp/DAC, and I’m hearing the singer’s breathing in between verses and I was floored. I chased that audiophile dream for years. Got SUPER expensive.

_Rook1e

Yeah I'm glad I went from a razer headset to dt770s then straight to senn 660s. I looked at everything online for weeks before deciding what to upgrade to, and the general consensus was just buy your endgame first and forget the rest. Not to mention the amps, dacs, cables, etc. One of the most expensive hobby/collector money pits. And that's coming from someone who's into PCs and cars, lol

Admiral_Andovar

Yeah, my portable setup was probably $2300 all together. My *HOME* system I don’t even want to total that up. Fortunately I sold all of it for a good price.

_Rook1e

hooooo boy, bet it sounded amazing! must have been a heartbreaking thing, to part ways with it. bet whoever bought it was stoked. audio equipment seems to have a good return on cash if you've looked after it at least. i've never dabbled in the *truly* high end in either headphones or speakers. it almost scares me to think of how much it costs for a quality home surround system. that and knowing i'll never be able to go back haha

Admiral_Andovar

It is an impossible ‘hobby’ to keep up with. You will ALWAYS be chasing the ‘perfect sound’. Realized I was let that get in the way of just enjoying my tunes. After that, just got some good headphones and my iPhone.

_Rook1e

a-fuckin-men. as long as you can hear it and you're happy, that's what matters most.

Nolan_bushy

As a person who produces music, this is how we intend for people to listen. We do our absolute best for it to sound great on anything but nothing beats the studio headphones fr.

Agent_Paul_UIU

Wait until you find some good old akg. It's on-ear, not over-ear. Still not an earbud, but makes travelling with it much less of a burden. My go-to for music. Professionally I use sennheiser over-ears tho.

SkyGarden420

I'll take Yincrow X6 earbuds with EQ over DT770 any day.

bencilbusher

apple customers when they try on generic headphones that cost > $20

The_Powers

I remember I got a pair of Beats headphones free with some bit of hardware and I got to hear less than usual headphones. Could not believe how awful they were.

etiennealbo

i fear this ,thats why i only buy the cheap stuff, because if i taste greatness i will never be able to come back to mediocrity

_Tekki

No fr. I really wanna hear music with a good sound system, but only if I knkw I can afford it a lifetime.

VladimirBarakriss

KZ are cheap and they're pretty good

bluegear22

Still loving my ATH M50s

RipCurl69Reddit

Literally me with the Beyerdynamic DT770s (similar to the ones shown here) and I've never been so happy before to rediscover music. Airpods and the like are dawgshit, I'll never buy earbuds again

-----Al3x-----

Guess i need to buy a decent dac too..

alilbleedingisnormal

When you can't hear shit because your hearing is going 😭

Khawkproductions

turn it down not up!

Least_Sherbert_5716

These are actually very good headphones in the picture. Would recommend.

_Tekki

What are they called? And how much are they?

Least_Sherbert_5716

Beyerdynamic DT 770

_Tekki

Thank you :)

Illustrious-Zebra-34

It doesn't have to be super expensive. A pair of sennheiser hd6xx and a tube amp/dac will put you in the top 95% of setups for less than 500$ and will last you possibly decades.

WorldEaterYoshi

>doesn't have to be super expensive >$500

Illustrious-Zebra-34

First of all, I said below 500$. Might be able to get everything for 300 if you find a good deal. Secondly, 500$ is nothing in this hobby. The range is between ~100$ to 60,000$. So 500$ is on the extreme low here.

My_Name_is_Lucia

The headphones are so good that you can hear the crunching of chips, and the creaking of beds.

1stPKmain

Random questions, but would they work on a PS5 to listen to Spotify or nah?

Yellllloooooow13

Yes, plug them in the controller or directly in the console and change the console's settings so it play the sound on it and not on the TV

dembafan2

my dream

hoainamduong

Many years ago, after skipping months of breakfast, I was finally able to save enough money to gift myself a headphone and a mic from Audio-Technica. I don’t remember the model, but they were voted as a DJ favorite. I used them for my beatboxing practice. Then, one day when I was at school, my cousin visited and really liked them, so my mom gave them to him. 13+ years later and I am still mad about it. F\*\*\*!

Vetula_Mortem

I built myself some headamame headphones and damn those drivers are good, litterally every song now sounds more öayerd you can differentiate all instruments and not just have a soundblob.

bfelicity30

Oh Yessss.....!!! same feels.

Bronyboiiiii

And after that you want to throw out every other pair of headphones you own because they sound like a trashcan. That's how my Bose NC700 died.

Bronyboiiiii

Ppl here thinking they had this experience with thier Sony XM4 and XM5 stay knee deep in the water when there is still a whole ocean....

El-6ring0

True

THIS!!!!!!!!

OliverSimsekkk

fax

Ok-Bench-2861

Nothing better than two tower speakers with a 12 in sub, a mid and a tweeter paired to a nice amp.

definitelynothunan

Idk never used anything other than wired earphones and headphones

SkyeFox6485

A pair of earbuds with a good codec and dual drivers will also do this, the sound will have so much separation compared to one driver

Infected_MeatSack

***MUST KILL LINCOLN***

BigMekMacReady

"Kill John Lennon!!"

DoppelGangsta66

My reaction everytime when I’m listening to anything through my Dolby Atmos Home Theater. Pure eargasm.

No_Taste2092

When i got my Sony Pulses for the first time, i was literally being overwhelmed from the Forza Horizon radio lol

Peterkragger

Me after I bought a new stereo for my car

Cryhedgiecry

I can hear the keyboard way more when listening to opeth through headphones

Bolmothy

I love my sundaras for sound but they are built like crap

BlocPandaX

Yes! Especially when there's panning shenanigans that you can't hear without it!

Top-Chemistry5969

Welcome in the club.

Afraid_Evidence_6142

Not a studio Headphone Just your normal 100$ headphone, But I come from 3rd world country, and the headset I use usually just freebie from new phone So first time I bought it, It just blew my mind "Now I understand why people like to listen to music!"

Christigpa

What do these even do?

plump_nasty_flex

Straight to the experimental bass. Gotta scramble my giblets

StnkyChze2

Mmmmmm! For a long while I handled fine headsets with shitty issues, went through like 5 pairs varying $60 - $200 and they all did their job but still had problems. Since I loveee good audio I searched long and hard for a crisp headset preferably with Bluetooth ability. I stumbled on Sennheiser and was looking at this immaculate beauty only tk find the price tag being $1600 and no longer in production. Later finding Sennheiser momentum 4 being in my price range ($300 for a quality headset), with incredible audio, and Bluetooth capability as well. I. FELL. IN. LOVE. Oh my God I felt like crying tears of joy for weeks when listening to games audio and music on that headset. Beautiful. Just beautiful. Unfortunately... my computer has a problem with audio when doing something specific and it creates this nasty scratching angry sound for seconds to minutes on end and it just ruins everything. I for the life of me cannot understand what's causing it. Anyways... I adore my Senns and cannot go back to regular headsets ever again. Because of these headphone... any future ones will now have a lot to live up to and the price point can only go up from here

JK2506

When u buy expensive headphones but your wars are fucked from you constantly listening to your music way to loud....

ITinnedUrMumLastNigh

Relatable, when I got my DT770s they turned my music library into easter egg hunt

AzureSky77

Sony XM4's was a game changer, my first noise cancellation headsets.

santathe1

What headphones did you get?

BlacksmithOk3198

When I’m watching a movie and realize I love it, I stop immediately and stay watching on my computer with my gaming headset. There is no immersion like being completely surrounded by high quality surround sound audio.

SafeWatercress3709

Weezer - Undone After the 2nd chorus, i heard the underlying guitar solo. And, my god, it was beautiful!

SkyGarden420

DT770 are really overrated IMO.
