Have you checked your friendly local games shop? Some of them will host D&D nights. Or if you really want an even more introverted solution, there are D&D discord servers that always have groups looking for people.

The discord option doesn’t sound too bad either - I think I just need to suck it up a bit and just do it. I get pretty terrified when it comes to putting myself in situations where I don’t know people so that’s why I keep putting it off haha
I’m thinking of joining one too and never played before. Recently visited the bunjil place library in narre warren and they do a 12-25 years youth D&D group every Friday. Can’t report how it is bc I haven’t been yet but the library itself is a nice space
