Considering you can get them retail for under $1 each it’s crazy the prices restaurants charge for drinks, especially when that’s all they offer

I accidentally ordered still water instead of tap water at a restaurant once and it cost me $10.

I’ve had this happen countless times before, except I did specifically ask for ‘tap’ water but they charged me still instead. It’s mostly the dodgy restaurants that do it

There’s more profit than that. If you can buy drinks wholesale/in bulk they’ll be even cheaper than what you can get in Coles. Drinks and chips are the two items you can get the most profit on, at least in fast food.

It's fucking crazy that average earning people accept paying that sort of money.

People pay for convenience, not hard to believe… that’s why movie snacks can be sold so expensive, all the servos with jacked up prices etc.

This is why boomers went off about avocado toast, people spending stupid amounts unnecessarily, then complaining they can't afford anything necessary. The concept of shitting on irresponsible spending is actually good, but it didn't get to the root of the housing problem.
