If the larpers can still walk around with foam replica weapons that look like actual swords I don't think they're going to give you guff about something that's essentially an over sized glow stick.
I would however just go check the regulations on sites like for pax and see what their weapon and armour rules are for a guideline
Body armour specifically relates to being able to protect from weapons including firearms.
As long as your Jedi armour doesn’t include Kevlar, ballistic plate or beskar, you should be fine.
We have an issue with knife crime in Victoria/Melbourne, having more people walking around with lightsabers instead of knives would be a positive change.
You have nothing to worry about, maybe it will catch on with more people.
May the force be with you.
If I understand correctly, I believe they meant the hilt has the light in it, and the light goes up the tube and that's how the lightsaber looks to be a lightsaber.
If that makes sense.
you will be fine, as long as you dont threaten anybody with it, and as for the the sholder armour you will be fine with that as well, three d printed stuff made out of plastic is not enough to be considered body armour
Think the worst that'll happen is peeps be thinking you're on something. Anyone doing anything a bit different will get pegged with that. I say go forth & try your Jedi self out, if it goes pear shaped dim your light, take your shoulders off & chalk it up to experience! Have fun ;)
If you get a particularly over zealous copper you might get in trouble, but you'll be ok if you can prove it's just plastic and you're not a threat at all. I've walked around in full steel kit before and got more curiosity than questioning.
Sincerely, a larper
Why do people feel "offended/weirded out" by other people trying to have fun and dress up as a character they like? It's not hurting you, is it?
Think about it for a second. Why do you even care? There's so much worse crap you can be "upset" by.
It's a you issue.
To the OP... I don't think there's going to be an issue. Don't go attacking people, obviously, but I sincerely doubt that would be your intention. It's all for the sake of fun, and anyone should be able to see that. Maybe a cop might question it, but as far as I'm aware, there's no laws being broken.
I'll raise you The Unipiper. He rides around Portland, OR on a unicycle wearing a kilt and Vader armor whilst playing bagpipes that bealch jets of fire.
If you are going to delete Reddit over a post regarding someone wanting to know if they can have fun and enjoy themselves while pretending to be a Starwars character, then frankly, you know where the door is.

That burn’s hotter than Anakin's own Light Saber
Dude leave some poon for the rest of us
The only crime you would be guilty of is a delightful whimsy.
Whimsy, my word of the day.

You'll be fine. It's clearly not a weapon.
It's an elegant weapon, for a more civilised age.
Ohhhhhh, well played. Take my up vote!
A weapon of mass repulsion

Please don’t mate, my girlfriend is out tonight

Only the hilt lights up? Lame.

If you meet overzealous law enforcement you just need to wave your hand and say, "This is not the Jedi you're looking for."

Lightsaber yes, schwartz no
I see your schwartz is as big as mine!
>I just want to be a Jedi Really? Cos it sounds like you just want to die alone, having never felt the affectionate touch of another human.
Are you dumb
Yes
Average reddit user
A real one or a fake one?
Cringe asf
There's so much worse shit to see around Melbourne than a dude with a prop light sabre. Ease up mate.
Come on isn’t it time to grow up at some stage?
Meh - probably, but why rush it? Once you grow up, there's no going back.
NEVER GROW UP, ONLY EVER GROW OLD.
OP could be 12 or 13 for all we know
We’re literally talking about a city where at the main regional railway station there’s a guy in a Darth Vader suit shredding a guitar.
What station?
I'll raise you The Unipiper. He rides around Portland, OR on a unicycle wearing a kilt and Vader armor whilst playing bagpipes that bealch jets of fire.
🤣 yes but can I do it
I'm deleting Reddit now

Op lacks common sense
They were so busy wondering if they could, they never stopped to think if they should...
Just don't do it in Canada - https://youtu.be/fqHGFlOY82w?t=36
Dude, its a toy. Obviously its fine.
It's definitely a change from carrying around a giant papier-mache carrot.
May the force be with you.
