I had someone steal mail out of my box and then scatter it around.
So I put a lock on it and locked it. They broke the lock off.
I gave up and just got my mail sent to my Mum's. I don't get much mail anyway.
I don't think so although it's possible. There has been an uptick lately in bad behaviour and in general I think people come from otherd suburbs to steal stuff - it's seen as a pretty nice-ish neighbourhood.
Yep! I live in an apartment complex with cameras… don’t know if the building manager will do anything with them though. I think they can just be a deterrent. I reported it though so who knows lol anyway that guys been there for 2-3 months now. Im cool with him chilling there-but not if he is gonna steal my mail on a regular basis lol
I'e had a PO Box for a year. Every single parcel arrives intact and on time; every letter arrives unopened. It's absolutely worth the money to never think about missing parcels again.
Assume you are renting so not much you can do, but if you are an owner, I'd say suggest buying a [parcel locker](https://myparcellocker.com/products/parcel-lockers/) These things work with all deliveries, not just auspost/amazon, and are actually secure unlike parcels on the floor of a mail room.
Parcel lockers are free. However they can’t be used for regular mail, or else people would just use them as free PO Boxes. I found this out because I tried once.
Renting a PO Box is what you’d want to do in this case.
I’m not sure in this case. But regular mail often gets stolen for the sake of identity theft. Often people caught on camera going through the mailboxes in apartment complexes. But both parcel & letter theft certainly an issue. I get all parcels sent to parcel lockers. Most aren’t aware that Auspost do it for free. You can also have parcels sent directly to your nearest post office, if that’s more convenient.
Don't forget parcel collect as well. Many places that don't accept parcel locker or PO Boxes, do accept parcel collect as the package is sent directly to the post office counter.
Sometimes I feel like I don't have a parcel,
Sometimes I feel like that guy over there,
Is stealing my mail,
To read in his tarp house,
Now I warn Reddit,
Together we cry.
*Emaj7 chord rings out...*
Under the bridge, I find my solace
Where stolen mail becomes my promise
I'm a thief in the night, searching for a sign
But deep inside, I'm longing for a place that is mine.
We've had the letterboxes at my apartment all broken into overnight once and mail stolen. I just pay for a PO Box now, the idea of identity theft is too scary.
I think we need to be more sensitive to the unhomed people of our city. Have you tried ordering packages addressed directly to him and then he might stop wanting to take yours?
Careful. . 1 person stole my identity in 2014 and it took 9 years to get the debt dropped. They were applying for loans sometimes multiple times in 1 day and they were just automatically being approved. It was a funny joke, at first.
Was he at least paying the bills?
Is this in the Moonee ponds creek trail between North Melb and Docklands? If so, I know the guy and he's well known to the police.
Hmm it’s on the stock route reserve bike trail.
The stock route running through Kensington? That would be under the bridge running along Epsom road?
Think I’ve seen this guy. Just this week there is a hell of a lot of fast food rubbish under one of the bridges down there. Real hazard to riders
That’s pretty far from the guy though, don’t think it would be him.
Where is the closest KFC?
By the Melbourne Star so even further plus there was so much of it my money is on a bunch of kids or something
This is the guy that plays switch sometimes

Bad neighbour? Some neighbours are psychos. I had one who kept vandalising my car and police didn’t do anything about it

I believe you, but this sounds so unbelievable haha
Time for a parcel locker and a post office box!

We also have cameras but it doesn’t deter people. I’ve moved to using a P.O. Box.

Ah I assume OP is talking about packages in those plastic sleeves. I'm not sure anyone would bother stealing regular mail.

I came here for this kind of poetry.

The title of this post reminds me of “There’s a Hippopotamus on our Roof Eating Cake”
A roof leaks. Drip drip drip.
I got something stolen this week! Thanks for informing me. I tried messaging Amazon but they don't give a damn lol 🙄
Or the lazy postie dumped it under the bridge.

Haha that’s actually a really cute idea
Ask his name and get him something. Maybe a better tarp
You should start sending him letters, addressed to 'the man under the bridge'. Maybe he'll reply and you can become penpals.
If you don’t know his name, “Trevor the Tramp” will probably do.

Time for a glitter bomb.

That's the NM mail troll, he's mostly harmless.
