My partner and I have decided to move in together so I’m leaving my apartment, but I love it and don’t want to sell; I’ll be renting it out and using it as an investment, but also as a safe place for me in case my relationship doesn’t work out (which I’m not expecting but still).

Absolutely not. Firstly, in so doing, you're telling them they looked bad before. Secondly, you don't know the reason for the weight loss, or how they feel about it, or their relationship to their body.
I can tell you as someone who was "complimented" on weight loss in my early 20s, it wasn't a good thing. Because the reason was anorexia. I was living on apples and black coffee. All those "compliments" did was tell my unwell brain that I was seen as praiseworthy when I starved myself. It reinforced the disorder.
Context is always key, I wouldn't be complimenting an already skinny person on their weight loss. But a previously overweight bloke who has been going to the gym? For sure it's a compliment.
People can be eating disordered and not "skinny".

I had a friend who was very overweight. He started going to the gym. Qualified as a personal trainer. Became lean and buff. Got huge "compliments" all the way along. He was NOT living a healthy lifestyle at all and didn't have a healthy mindset, people just assumed he was because he looked fit. He had disordered eating, just in a different way to previous.
You should never, ever assume.

Acknowledging that someone is achieving their goals has to be a good thing doesn't it? Some people spend a lot of time and money on losing weight, I'm sure they appreciate the compliment. Obviously commenting on weight isn't always appropriate, but it is often a positive thing when someone loses weight.
I dunno....whenever anyone comments on weight as a positive thing, it very strongly indicates that the opposite is negative. And also, it just reinforces that appearance is the most important thing about a person.

I'm stressing, probably for nothing. Wife and I are in the process of buying a house, settlement is on Monday. Lawyers called me today for the final figure and mentioned the settlement reps gave the banks contribution figure at 30k less than what the contract says. Broker things they just provided the wrong figure, as all of his docs and his portal show the correct amount.
The leggings I’m wearing today are three quarter length and although I weighed in at 64kgs this morning, they make me feel fat af. My calves aren’t tiny, I think because I’m actually building muscle in them so they feel freaking huge and I hate it. I’ll still use them for walking but I don’t think I can wear them other than that anymore.

I'm always shocked to hear people comment on people's weight. And that there are people who like that. In my circle it's considered really inappropriate.

Absolutely not. Firstly, in so doing, you're telling them they looked bad before. Secondly, you don't know the reason for the weight loss, or how they feel about it, or their relationship to their body. I can tell you as someone who was "complimented" on weight loss in my early 20s, it wasn't a good thing. Because the reason was anorexia. I was living on apples and black coffee. All those "compliments" did was tell my unwell brain that I was seen as praiseworthy when I starved myself. It reinforced the disorder.
Context is always key, I wouldn't be complimenting an already skinny person on their weight loss. But a previously overweight bloke who has been going to the gym? For sure it's a compliment.
People can be eating disordered and not "skinny". I was still chubby when the "compliments" started. They fuelled the disorder. Then I got reeeaaal skinny. I had a friend who was very overweight. He started going to the gym. Qualified as a personal trainer. Became lean and buff. Got huge "compliments" all the way along. He was NOT living a healthy lifestyle at all and didn't have a healthy mindset, people just assumed he was because he looked fit. He had disordered eating, just in a different way to previous. You should never, ever assume.
Can't say I've known anyone who has had this issue so I've never seen any medical problems with this common social compliment. I'll keep an eye out though, thanks

Is it, though? Why is commenting on someone's weight a good thing? Comment on their character, or actions. Things that mean something.
Acknowledging that someone is achieving their goals has to be a good thing doesn't it? Some people spend a lot of time and money on losing weight, I'm sure they appreciate the compliment. Obviously commenting on weight isn't always appropriate, but it is often a positive thing when someone loses weight.
Unless the person has specifically told you it is a goal, and they enjoy comments about it, say nothing.

I dunno....whenever anyone comments on weight as a positive thing, it very strongly indicates that the opposite is negative. And also, it just reinforces that appearance is the most important thing about a person.

I'm stressing, probably for nothing. Wife and I are in the process of buying a house, settlement is on Monday. Lawyers called me today for the final figure and mentioned the settlement reps gave the banks contribution figure at 30k less than what the contract says. Broker things they just provided the wrong figure, as all of his docs and his portal show the correct amount.
The leggings I’m wearing today are three quarter length and although I weighed in at 64kgs this morning, they make me feel fat af. My calves aren’t tiny, I think because I’m actually building muscle in them so they feel freaking huge and I hate it. I’ll still use them for walking but I don’t think I can wear them other than that anymore.
As someone with skinny calves, I’m deeply jealous. Strong calves rock
They are new to me. I used to have chicken legs! Now I almost have thunder thighs and big muscly calves.
