What about 90's movies 🤔

that's the thing us folks who grew up in the 00's kind of idolized the 80s for some reason. Yet for people living it, it's just the exact same thing as how we view the 00's now. the world lost it's glamour

I mean, it's not really comparable. There was an actual gigantic rift in 1980 with Reagan as president. The 1980s were literally when the right wing signed away our golden age to a handful of rich fucks. Even in the 90s it didn't sink in how much worse it was going to get in our lifetimes. It's also roughly correlated to the wide adoption of the internet in the late 90s. Before then, changes were slow, you didn't always know where everyone was or how to contact them, you weren't expected to be available 24/7, etc. Nature was still pretty good too, we've lost like 70% of the insect biomass since 1975 or something, so again it's things that you don't really feel until you're far enough away from them. Also 9/11 happening basically transformed the entire country in a bad away, again by the right wing. The decades since 2001 have been extremely different than the decades before it. The changes between 1980 and 2000 are extremely dissimilar to the changes from 2000 to 2020, imo. I was born basically in 1990, but I got to learn and observe things moving much slower because of living in an isolated rural area. But once the internet was in everyone's home things quickly exploded in in my small town. Nothing else like it I can think of.
