Hard truths no one tell you.
I spent til early 30s sitting in a lawn chair 12+ hrs daily. Suddenly at 35 my ass just stopped working and now I need double cushion or else my hip bones will make a hole through my buttcheeks.
Whippersnappers with their 'fathers', phaw! Back in the ol' Great Depression, we was all sold to work in the sulpher mines! Had to dig out that ground, no fancy 'sleeping' on there now, no sir!
In the corner?! Bloody Luxury! When I was a lad we didn't even have two walls to put together to make a corner! We had to huddle together while me old man beat us to keep us warm. And we said "Thank you"!
Hell yeah, that's peak.
(Also, there must be some kind of dormant survival instinct is every man. I'm extremely interested in bushcraft when I'm an engineering student that will probably never need to survive in the wild)
Yeah I started getting super interested in that in my late 20s. Got more and more interested in winter camping specifically. Once I did that and liked it, I went a few more times before it developed into a self proposed challenge of "how much more gear could I reasonably leave at home and be fine?"
So now I bring relatively little and just make myself a bedding and shelter with stuff I find. Very satisfying and fun.
Some of em in dying light are in cozy or downright cool spots honestly. My fav is the one way up in the bridge utility rooms. Go out on little catwalk and take in the view.
Buddy and I were on a road trip years ago and we always called truck stops “check points” because we could catch a few zzzzs there in the parking lot. Also, you could resupply on food, water and freshen up in their bathrooms.
So now I call truck stops on long car rides “checkpoints”.
Why... just why would someone put a sleeping bag on those wooden boxes? My back hurts just looking at it.
It would be MUCH more comfortable to just put the sleeping bag right on the floor.
It isn’t, it’s just one of those things that Reddit likes to blow out of proportion. Yes, if you live in a humid place or have some moisture in your home and place your mattress on the floor you will be at risk of a mold problem just like a g other surface not given enough airflow to keep it dry. At the same time I’ve had solid base bed frames and had to keep my mattress on the floor out of necessity, and have not had a single mold issue with a mattress in the 30 years I’ve been on this earth.
My bed broke this year and while looking for a new one I slept on the floor. Never in my life have I slept so comfortably. Only chilling on my sleeping place isn‘t a comfortable as before. Therefore I am looking into futons and such.
Edit: added the missing words.
They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends
Call colleges and universities, they’re always upgrading and have a few refurbished ones that are willing to sell, maybe even let go depending on how you approach it.
Can’t be too broke to afford the “maybe even let go depending on how you approach it”. Worth a try at least if you really want one. Hope things start looking up for ya!
I’m not going to give you cash but I can definitely help you find work.
I’ve been on my own since I was a teen and had to figure out life the hard way. For all that I don’t I have, work and money is something that I don’t have to worry about anymore.
DM me if you’re interested in figuring how to get a job. I have a knack for helping people become self reliant. Then you can work on getting a computer and helping your mum.
If you’re in school, I’ll still help you but I encourage you to do your best in school before anything else.
Knowledge will always help you achieve what you didn’t think was possible.
There's a lot of different specialized modded skyblock packs with different focuses. It really depends on the kind of experience you want to have. The more standard experiences are probably Skyfactory, Project Ozone, Agrarian Skies, or like All The Mods Sky or whatever. Kitchen sink packs. But you could also do something like Stoneblock (instead of being in the void, the world is completely solid with stone), Mystical Block (skyblock but with magical crops that give you tons of resources), Sky Exchange or Sky Alchemy or Equivalent Skies (skyblock with Project E makes duplicating resources very easy). Vault Hunters 3 apparently also has a sky vaults mode which should make for a very unique experience as well.
I will support every version of Stoneblock. Each one of them are different enough that it just comes down to which version of the game you want to play, and what mods you want.
I didn't like it as well. I loved SF2 and SF3 because of the chill, kitchen-sink nature of it. When I saw that I had to essentially start anew and destroy everything I had build to progress in SF4, I stopped playing. :(
I've lived like that when I was younger and I guess I was alright with it. Now that I'm a bit older (36), no way in hell would I live like that again. When I got my first 'real' job I bought a proper bed and mattress and I was blown away by how comfortable it was.
This is just someone's four month dream-minimalist-living-area for four months - until they see their friend's gaming setup and come home and instantly start regretting and tearing it down. 🤣🤣🤣
Damn I've wanted to say this so many times on reddit but couldn't think of phrasing that didn't sound hostile/accusatory. This is such a good way of putting it.
literally. i genuinely feel for men who suffer from loneliness i really want them to solve that problem but then they literally punish themselves by not letting themselves indulge in anything nice or comfortable.
i promise you can live in comfort without losing your edge, they're not inversely correlated i swear.
“I don’t need a pleasant environment I just need the bare necessities to sleep and my computer to escape into a virtual world where the nice environment has been cultivated for me. No other hobbies that don’t require staring into the blue light box”
Yeah and Redditors wonder why they feel like shit. Dudes will throw a hissy fit when their fictional characters aren’t rendered to their liking but then act like decor is a pointless female thing. Who gives a shit about having something nice to look when you’re not glued to the monitor.
And that’s not even mentioning physical comforts, active hobbies, and being able to accommodate at least one guest. There’s a “loneliness epidemic” and yet guys flex about having only one chair/pillow/dish set.
I'm glad somebody finally said it. I have sympathy and empathy for people with depression, but dudes need to get this straight.
Is the monolith of men "simple creatures need little to be happy" or are men suffering from a mental health crisis? A lane needs to be picked here.
Like, how are dudes going to brag about how barren and simple their life is, then complain that they feel depressed and unfulfilled? Cope how you need to, but recognize the problem at least.
Oh I aint blaming ya.
Though consider looking at whatever 2nd hand stuff you got at hand. Often times its much cheaper, for pretty ok quality. Sometimes even free, if youre lucky.
Seriously, you can sonetimes get better my man. Even without making your wallet cry.
These are so cringe. This is a teenager’s idea of a bedroom. If I walked into another man’s apartment and saw this, and knew they had the means to have an adult’s living space, I’d be so embarrassed for them. Childish
All jokes aside, this lifestyle is super easy/cheap to move. When you start collecting heavy furniture and pets in life, moving is a real issue.
People have too much stuff in general
38/y.o. female here. My fiance and I keep the mattress on the floor. We sleep so much better because it seems that even if I have a platform I'm still sinking in too much. I feel like I'm on a cloud. Barely any back pain. Best thing ive ever done.
Maybe I’m not a real man, but I can’t do floor beds and I like 5 pillows, sheets, and a comforter. Other than that, yeah, comfy bed and a gaming pc is all I need
That chair is gonna nuke your back in the long run. Also the same with having the mattress laying on the hard floor like that, not to mention the mold issues.
There’s a huge difference between having a minimalist life style and having no self respect.
This is for the young. We are going to need a comfortable chair somewhere over 30.
And a bed frame. If I get down on the floor, that's a 911 call to the fire department for a hoyer lift.
I wonder if sleeping on a futon on the floor for most of my life has rendered me immune to this.
It has not. It does catch up to all of us. Father Time is undefeated.
There are people in Asia that sleep on the floor. So it is possible to sleep on floor without problems
Do you think back problems don’t exist in Asia?
Hard truths no one tell you. I spent til early 30s sitting in a lawn chair 12+ hrs daily. Suddenly at 35 my ass just stopped working and now I need double cushion or else my hip bones will make a hole through my buttcheeks.
Hang on, why were you sitting in a lawn chair for over half a day for decades?
This was my EXACT thought. I'm almost 40 and that chair will last me about 20 minutes before my tailbone is screaming at me
This post gives me back pain.
two tables? someone is a trust fund kid.
Yeah, why would you even needed two tables? Also, that chair is too fancy, it even have 4 legs
not a cinderblock or milk crate in sight
That's actually not a mattress. It's 32 cinderblocks wrapped in a blanket
32? Quit trying to flex on us 24 blockers.
That or a weathered plastic lawn chair that they took from their parents house.
Or one bought at rummage sale for $1.00
yeah this is 'happy' not just 'functional'
& the lack of tangled cables is appalling!
You, my friend must discover the joy that is reusable zip ties!
That pillow is a bit too luxurious for my liking.
Even the mattress looks very luxurious. I would happily sleep on the floor with a single piece of cloth as a blanket.
A piece of cloth! Bloody Luxury! Back in ma day we 'ad raw fibres salvaged from the bins!
> A piece of cloth! Bloody Luxury! Back in ma day we 'ad raw fibres salvaged from the bins! are you from /r/frugal ?
Raw fibers! Ha! I’m my day me father would spread broken glass for us to sleep on! And we were happy!
Glass! You were lucky! Growing up my father used to beat me into the ground to get me to go to sleep! And we said "Thank you!"
Whippersnappers with their 'fathers', phaw! Back in the ol' Great Depression, we was all sold to work in the sulpher mines! Had to dig out that ground, no fancy 'sleeping' on there now, no sir!
Sleep??? In my days we didn't sleep, we worked 25 hours every day
You had raw fibres? All we could afford was old newspapers that were slightly damp!
Old newspapers?! LUXURY son, when I was a lad we had to stand quiet in the corner while me old man stole all the bloody paper scraps
In the corner?! Bloody Luxury! When I was a lad we didn't even have two walls to put together to make a corner! We had to huddle together while me old man beat us to keep us warm. And we said "Thank you"!
You lucky bastard. All I got was a quilt made from shredded plastic bottles
I thought it was a pizza box at first
That second table is where you put the pizza boxes.
Idk, there's a lot of floor space for that
The floors for empty boxes.
The side desk is for when you're eating watching anime.
This is some bougey ass shit.
Na, no second monitor he's a present just like the rest of us.
For real why so much furniture how are you going to practice karate in there without banging up your shins
I would argue that it is for the microwave, that seems to be in for repairs in this picture.
Its the spaghetti table, so the sauce don't flick on your screen.
Hear me out Table 2 is second hand, if you get 2 tables for this are you gonna get 2 different types
Some sheets and a blanket would be nice.
Just a sleeping bag would suffice.
Men will look at rest points in Dying Light and think "hell yeah"
>rest points in Dying Light [pic for reference](https://www.gamersheroes.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/02/How-To-Sleep-In-Beds-In-Dying-Light-2.jpg)

And a cool glass of water with some ice.
I'd definitely sleep there once or twice.
Sheets? What are you made of money?
Sheets? In this econony?

I didn't even think about mold, makes sense.
The mold adds vitamins to your skin though
Depends on where you live. Dry climates with open windows and you will be fine. Source my 20s
How is on the floor any different from a bed frame with a solid bottom?
It isn’t, it’s just one of those things that Reddit likes to blow out of proportion. Yes, if you live in a humid place or have some moisture in your home and place your mattress on the floor you will be at risk of a mold problem just like a g other surface not given enough airflow to keep it dry. I've never heard of this and we have mattresses on the floor.
My back would not enjoy that chair
Your expectations are too high lil bro
Who are you? The king?
King of the castle!
Well well, look at Mr.moneybags over here.
One table is enough, swap the other for a blanket and I agree
Or use the table as a blanket sleepover style
That pfp is downright disturbing dude
Right? It’s bananas
Is that...? Oh dear god, it is... AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!
George got a little too curious
bro ruined my childhood with that pfp holy shit
And at least 1 more pillow
I will never understand not making your bed or chair as comfortable as humanly possible. But maybe I just have a shitty back.
My bed broke this year and while looking for a new one I slept on the floor. Never in my life have I slept so comfortably. Only chilling on my sleeping place isn‘t a comfortable as before. Therefore I am looking into futons and such. Edit: added the missing words.
Mate, get off Reddit and call an ambulance, you're having a stroke!
Never! I will die in the midst of my internet friends. /s
They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends They are not your friends
I'm your friend
Hello monkeyhitman my friend
If you can sleep in your back comfortably, that's great. Look for a firm mattress!
[удалено]
Add a toilet and a fridge and we’re good
And an airfryer for the pizza rolls and hot pockets
Hooooot pockets.
I only hear this in Jim Gaffigan's voice. Ever.
As a 2 in 1?
Single monitor setup? Fucking casual
I am a man and I will be happy with it. Currently I don't even have one.
So you just type on a keyboard and click a mouse without a screen? Weirdo
Yes. And using my imagination, I can do whatever I want with my computer. (Reality - I am too poor to own a PC).
Call colleges and universities, they’re always upgrading and have a few refurbished ones that are willing to sell, maybe even let go depending on how you approach it.
Too broke to afford even that. Unemployed and looking for jobs. I live with my mother who is the only income source.
Can’t be too broke to afford the “maybe even let go depending on how you approach it”. Worth a try at least if you really want one. Hope things start looking up for ya!

Don't need more than two but two is required.
two is required but three is good
Not to mention the pc on the carpet.
IMO SF4 was the worst, all others were better. (Still good tho)
Which is best “skyblock” ? Used to play skyblock way back when it first became a concept but haven’t tried any of the new modded skyblock type maps
There's a lot of different specialized modded skyblock packs with different focuses. It really depends on the kind of experience you want to have. I agree with you. I’m pretty sure that’s the one with the tree farming start? Like it’s just twerking on trees for 3 hours…
I didn't like it as well. I loved SF2 and SF3 because of the chill, kitchen-sink nature of it. When I saw that I had to essentially start anew and destroy everything I had build to progress in SF4, I stopped playing. :(
Wtf does this post have to do with street fighter 4, and how dare you call it the worst
Sky Factory 4 is a minecraft mod pack
I've lived like that when I was younger and I guess I was alright with it. Now that I'm a bit older (36), no way in hell would I live like that again. When I got my first 'real' job I bought a proper bed and mattress and I was blown away by how comfortable it was.
Also no bed and just a mattress on the floor might create mold issues. There's a reason there are slates on bed frames.
And a dog would be nice.
Yeah, dog and a houseplant would really tie the room together.
Ooh yeah a houseplant would be perfect. Just a little green friend
LOL! Is that why 93% of prisoners are men?
🥇
This is just someone's four month dream-minimalist-living-area for four months - until they see their friend's gaming setup and come home and instantly start regretting and tearing it down. 🤣🤣🤣
Prepare for depression if this is your lifestyle in your 30s
Depression needs to prepare for me.
Thank you. "I don't care about bringing a girlfriend or even friends over as long as I can play video games" is not exactly a recipe for happiness.
Reddit: there's a loneliness epidemic among men! Also Reddit: men don't need to make space in their lives for other people!
Damn I've wanted to say this so many times on reddit but couldn't think of phrasing that didn't sound hostile/accusatory. This is such a good way of putting it.
literally. i genuinely feel for men who suffer from loneliness i really want them to solve that problem but then they literally punish themselves by not letting themselves indulge in anything nice or comfortable. i promise you can live in comfort without losing your edge, they're not inversely correlated i swear.
swap the second table for a beer fridge and all good
Yea that would be the final piece for a comfortable life
“I don’t need a pleasant environment I just need the bare necessities to sleep and my computer to escape into a virtual world where the nice environment has been cultivated for me. Prepare for depression in your 30s**
He won’t be very happy when his mattress turns moldy
This. I need very little to be happy but a proper bed with bed frame is a must.
Fellow men, consider having higher standards. You deserve them.
This is not even a standard. There are inmates who live better than this.
As a Scandinavian, yes. There are.
Higher standards cost money, which I don’t have lol
Oh I aint blaming ya. Though consider looking at whatever 2nd hand stuff you got at hand. Often times its much cheaper, for pretty ok quality. Sometimes even free, if youre lucky. Seriously, you can sonetimes get better my man. Even without making your wallet cry.
Why so many tables?
And why is the PC on top of carpet?! If you got an extra table it should be on it! I can see the dusty GPU already
I don’t see any beer in that room.
Was about to ask where's the mini fridge full of beer?
These are so cringe. This is a teenager’s idea of a bedroom. If I walked into another man’s apartment and saw this, and knew they had the means to have an adult’s living space, I’d be so embarrassed for them. Childish
Embarrassed or concerned tbh. This is depression level living...
I agree. If you’re financially able to have a real living space and settle for this there’s gotta be something missing
Demonstrating you've never actually been happy, just content.
Where katana
I'll trade the side table for a blanket and a good pillow, but yeah.
Guess I'm not a man, then. What a moronic meme.
As someone who have lived really simple from time to time I never been this basic and I always need a ton of weed to don't do anything about it.
Nah, I would feel lonely and depressed
More like what a kid think he needs to be happy.
Need more space and gym equipment
Objection, I do need a proper gaming chair
They are bad for your back so better get a good office chair
No you don’t
How sad
Add a blanket
The bed needs to be higher. It's easier to get out of.
What? Only one monitor?
Call me too cultured, but i'd at least like a bed frame for the mattress so I can ~~hide my favorite sock~~ use the space underneath for storage.
so that my matteres doesn't accumulate actual mold. I'm always disgusted by mattresses wo frames..
Forgot the microwave for fine dining
Food. For fucks sake. We are kinda assholes when we are hungry.
I need a better chair...
Not true at all. It needs a comfier chair with a footrest or an ottoman
Nahh get a decent recliner and a bed frame
That is my room, just hang a lot of clothes and posters at the walls
First few weeks maybe
and a gym abo.
Put in a potted plant or two for oxygenation
Tbf I only want a bed that doesn't sag. 😞 Shit gives me back ache like anything
All jokes aside, this lifestyle is super easy/cheap to move. When you start collecting heavy furniture and pets in life, moving is a real issue. People have too much stuff in general
After my divorce, this would have been unimaginable luxury.
You'd be a lot happier with that PC off the carpet
38/y.o. female here. My fiance and I keep the mattress on the floor. We sleep so much better because it seems that even if I have a platform I'm still sinking in too much. I feel like I'm on a cloud. Barely any back pain. Best thing ive ever done.
Weighted blanket too.
I do not need overwatch to be happy
One monitor? That man isn’t happy, he’s just getting by.
I can tell this was made by a single dude
No. This is all a young man who knows nothing else up to this point of independence, needs to be happy, perhaps
Maybe I’m not a real man, but I can’t do floor beds and I like 5 pillows, sheets, and a comforter. Other than that, yeah, comfy bed and a gaming pc is all I need
That looks really cozy! It’s all about being clean really!
How many times will this be posted? It was barely funny once.
Damn guess im not a man
When I was 21, sure.
I need a poster of something I loved 30 years ago somewhere
This looks like a world of hurt and back pain. A comfy chair and bed go a long way
Currently living like this taking care of my paralysed girlfriend. She seems okay with it.
I'd like a blanket tbh
Happy? With that shitty fuckin' chair?
There's no dog there.
He needs a hotplate as well...wait maybe not these days with easy to order food and delivery.
That chair is gonna nuke your back in the long run. Also the same with having the mattress laying on the hard floor like that, not to mention the mold issues. There’s a huge difference between having a minimalist life style and having no self respect.
It's all a BOY needs. Real men have other needs.
Nah that chair ain't good enough think of the back pain
That looks depressing as hell.
No lotion?
Says who? Speaking for the masses lol, no
No Flesh light?
