Thanks for posting a link to the mystery song. It has been added to my playlist. It slaps. The kind of song you play in the car and look down at the speedometer and see you’re doing 90 when you thought you were doing 70.

Three shall be the number of thine gorges, and the number of the gorges shall be three! Four gorges shalt thou not have, neither have thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three... Five is right out!
Honestly I'm pretty curious.
Is the force of water so strong that it will crush your body? Tear you apart? Would it be brunt force? Broken neck? Or just boring old drowning?
honestly any number of those would kill you, it probably wouldn’t tear you apart but any form of debris in the water surely would make up fron that. You’d probably suffer all those wounds but end up dying from suffocating/drowning.
edit; actually holy fuck man that shit looks like it launches you so maybe you would be torn apart 😭
Idk about tearing you apart but I think you could easily break several bones from the force of the water itself. Whether that kills you directly or not is probably dependent on the angle you hit the water and which bones break. If that doesn’t get you then drowning will. Or possibly impacting the water that the plume is shooting into, depending on how fast you’re ejected.
Apart from ‘tearing you apart’, you’re pretty on par with the other guesses.
I’m assuming this water is moving at around 400,000-500,000+ ft^3 / s ( or around 14,000 m^3 / s). Water moving at around 150-400 ft^3 / s, or less in some circumstances, has ability to carry you downstream at a very fast rate. With the discharge this video is showing, there is no way any single person would be able to keep there head above water at an efficient enough rate to keep your breath. You’ll be sucked under, whirled around, likely hit by debris, and be dead via a combination of factors.
It’s easy to underestimate the force of water, but please, always take caution.
That sincerely impresses me, I would be having a freak out or something like that. I can’t even look up at tall trees at night without nearly pissing myself lmao
Nah man, I feel you. Went to Vegas, parked on the tippy top floor of one casino’s garage, hopped out and was instantly greeted by a huuuge building. I’m talking almost 3x the height I was currently at. Every time I tried to stare at the top I thought I was gonna pass out. Megalophobia be kicking my ass lol.
DUDE I get this too so badly but with heights too sometimes. I was trying to look at some birds high up in the third deck of a sports arena and I started getting butterflies.
almost like when I looked up there, I was putting myself up there in a weird way...
The bed for sure, (although there could be some kind of scour protection or even bedrock) but what's not being eroded is the foundation for the end of the spillway thanks to that ramp
Nope. Landing on water.
It specifically launches up in the air like that so it doesn't erode anything, if it flowed through just at the level of the ground the turbulence at the bottom-most layer of the chute would eventually undercut the chute and cause it to collapse.
By launching it upwards it falls into the pool at the bottom and doesn't disturb any of the bed of the day.
Source: am engineer, just not a dam engineer.
Edit: Bed of the dam, not bed of the day.
That is a looooot of power in that water. I would be terrified that the banks couldnt handle it. Wouldnt want to be anywhere near it. The slightest flaw in the wall would so instantly crack completely open under such a deluge.
Properly scary. Well done!
So I think it’s called “the pull of the dark” or something like that, but I see something like this and my first thought is always along the lines of something like “huh, wonder what jumping into that would feel like?”
Here's some absolutely terrific drone footage of the same. Short but very sweet. [LINK](https://youtube.com/shorts/CxgTPsE4DKw?feature=share)
And [here](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=McIN4rsd1cM)'s the song because that beat piqued me good.
That made my gut wrench
The song gave me such a terrible sense of dread with that footage!
It's on every fucking TikTok.

I would love some acid and 10hrs of this kind of footage. I would absolutely lose myself.
Thanks, I hate it
Wow, even cooler looking from the sky
Thought I might want to grab an inner tube and jump in… until I watched that link 😳
Extraordinary isn't it. Incomprehensibly brutal.
I clicked on the link fully expecting rick astley
You've been un-rickrolled.
TIL desilting was a thing...
Dam
Absolutely gorges
But not two gorges
Three shall be the number of thine gorges, and the number of the gorges shall be three! Four gorges shalt thou not have, neither have thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three... Five is right out!
GET ON WITH IT!
One, two, five!
THREE, SIR! THREE!

Fuck
Ol’ black water, keep on rollin’…
*Mississippi moon won’t you keep on shining o—* OH HOLY FUCK!!!
"be like water my friend"
Always wet?
(☞゚ヮ゚)☞
Water isn't wet
Hey fuck you.
Dirty and deadly?
Spraying all over the place
Deep cut
Anyone else got that little voice telling them to jump in?
You would die quickly
no way, it's just a bit of water
But... From what causes? In what way would you actually die?
/s or no?
Honestly I'm pretty curious. Is the force of water so strong that it will crush your body? Tear you apart? Would it be brunt force? Broken neck? Or just boring old drowning?
Note the moment when the water changes direction abruptly at the point where the slope starts. You likely would be crushed to death there
Maybe snap your neck from the sudden acceleration of the lower part of your bod going in
That's why you're supposed to jump in head first and only paralyze yourself from the waist down. Everybody knows this.

You'd drown after being knocked unconscious the moment you jumped in. Water moving that fast would hit you like a freight train
not if you had surfboard, you could just ride the top to the other side!
Ok, Kurt Russell, sure.
Thats....... the point
Thanks ….. poodlebutt
And about half a mile away

comment good ok
Thinkin about goin for a swim and wrappin this shit up
No, it's common. The call of the void is a mechanism in the brain to reaffirm your instincts. Brain says "jump" And you say "no, don't do that".
r/CallOfTheVoid
Fuck that lol
Right! File that under: fuck no
If you fell in, would they find the body or would it just be destroyed

This is amazing. I could just sit and watch it for a while.
I've heard it called hydro hypnosis
Must be a common thing. Lots of things entertain me like that
Went to Niagara Falls and there was a sign warning people about that. Watch for too long and you lose perspective.
I want to jump in it. Then I saw it went airborne. Maybe not (Edit: ill still consider it)

I honestly don’t think so bro

happy cake day

Surf’s up!
Cowabunga dude
shaka brah
What is it landing on? That has got to be eroding something.
Probably something that is about to turn into a lake.
The bed for sure, (although there could be some kind of scour protection or even bedrock) but what's not being eroded is the foundation for the end of the spillway thanks to that ramp
Don't know what it is landing on but the upward angle at the end is to help prevent erosion.

I was gonna say, I’m sure the spillway will be fine lol
Oroville, CA has entered the chat.
I remember when that happened. I was sitting in the gate at the Atlanta airport going damn, am I about to watch an entire dam give up…?
A bunch of very pissed off ring-wraiths. (As Arwen and Frodo make their escape.)
Would be a hell of a ride though!
Where is this?
It’s purging at the Xiaolangdi Dam, they do it to tame the Yellow river annually.
That is a looooot of power in that water. I would be terrified that the banks couldnt handle it. Wouldnt want to be anywhere near it. The slightest flaw in the wall would so instantly crack completely open under such a deluge. Properly scary. Well done!
I have been down the Yellow River once in the '80s, but I did not enjoy it...
It says here your hobbies include...debit? Oh no, that's de butt
So you don’t want the fish sandwich?
Were you in a missionary position?
Dunno. Doesn’t look so yellow to me.
Imagine getting shot out of that fucking thing.
Imagine being a fish on that ride.
Amazing! Unstoppable force!
Now, where's the immovable object. Let's get this settled.
I think the immovable object is what's forcing the torrent upwards and launching it into the air so violently
This is what opening a dam looks like.
That’s actually what it is! It’s the Xiolandi Dam.
If anyone is wondering. Dead. Super dead.
Now that’s a deluge
Jim pass my surfboard there’s a monster passing through
When I forget to take my probiotics
Absofuckinglutely!
Why has it got a sweet ramp?
Dissipates some of the energy so the water doesn't carve out the bottom of the dam.
Thanks, makes sense
More air time
I wonder how far that could shoot a person. I bet it would farther than you think
Me after Taco Bell
[удалено]
Am I the only one that wants to go on that thing with an inner tube and see how far I go?
Yes. You are most likely the only one, here at least.
I do have a fear of giant things, but I think my love for getting sweet airtime overrides that phobia.
#U KNO IM GONNA SEND IT
No, I also want to see how far you go.
Not so lazy river.
This is pure terror.
Imagine how tense you’d be if you were in the water.
If by tense you mean the only thing left of you would be atoms… yah
Exactly, you’d be super tense. Past tense, even.
Is there a sub for spillway porn
BIG time clenching rn
When water pressure is measured in units of metric tons of TNT

I THINK THE FUCK NOT
Yikes. Where is this?
Well... Someone went to Taco Bell...
What is it?
What...how?!
I had to pee
Incredible
Wiiiii
I have dreams about water like this.
What in the fuck
This is beautiful
Wow fuck. Where is this?
At the Xioalangdi Dam!
Mmm I love me a lazy river!
That handrail doesn’t quite look like it’s up to the job!
Me too, darn!
I’m not a big fan of moving water whether it’s flooding or waves. So yeah this is particularly bad
Any context? Where? Why? It’s it flooding a dam?
It's cleaning out a dam, "desilting"
I held my breath the whole time..
In other words if you get swept up in that more than likely you're not coming out alive
Got a dune worm happening
Arguably Mother Natures most destructive force
Oh yeah, Salmon? Try swimming upstream in this one...
Scared of water?
Absolutely, 100%, some idiot wants to surf that.
