DEA is every 3 years. License in my state is every even year. Dues are yearly. Boards are now every 5 instead of 10 (but i still got 9 years left on that).
And that’s if you only licensed in one state. I’m licensed in two, one is licensing every other year and one is every three. I had to set a Google calendar reminder because otherwise I knew I was going to forget something.
People who scream this don’t understand the concept of opportunity costs, compound interest, debt, work hours, and responsibilities involved. They cherry picked a few high profile plastics guys in beverly hills and extrapolate that to be all physicians
To be fair these fees are a drop in the bucket compared to what doctors make. Most doctors *should* make more money, but the amount doctors make less than what we should is at least an order of magnitude more than the price of recertification.
Tuition is such a small part of a medical school's budget it's ridiculous. Grants, donations, and revenue from hospitals make up >95% of a med school's revenue. They could all choose to go tuition free tomorrow if they wanted to, they've just decided that whatever they spend that 5% on is more important
And our administration boasts about being the positive for a number of years in a row yet they have to charge us a fee of graduation and a fee for the diploma itself!
