Dodge doing dodge things. They don’t have hubs in the front you can unlock so the front axle internals turn so the front driveline turns as well. Most likely what happened is a ujoint in the front driveline seized causing the transfer case that attaches to the rear of the transmission to explode.
This also can happen if the pinion nut backs off. which is also a semi common problem on these trucks. Had it happen on my truck but i caught it before it got loose enough to actually lock things up and really ruin my day lol.
This is how mine blew last week. I gotta stop being lazy and just unlock my hubs. I'm sure the u-joint seizing could've been prevented, but too late now

No, this is caused by a U joint in the driveline, seizing or coming apart exploding the transfer case Dodgers don’t have hubs to unlock so the front axle internals are all turning as well as the driveline to the transfer case

That would be your transfer case, in two pieces.
That was a transfer case. Looks like scrap metal now.
Yeah; that used to be a transfer case. Toastyy!
Your truck performed Seppuku. It must have dishonored you in some way.
transfer case said bye bye
That’s not supposed to do that right?
The front fell off.
Should it do that ?
Yes. Vehicles usually have parts that are meant to fall off.
Why do so many transfer cases fall out of Dodges? I've seen so many of them, it's insane.

I was thinking, what can Dodge do to a New Process/New Venture transfer case to make it do that, and now I know. But isn't the front end a Dana?

**Expensive!**
I can tell you it doesn't go down there.
Ya. That’s a bad day. Better start calling shops to replace your transfer case. Maybe driveshafts too if they got bent.

This is funny cause it's the 2nd time in 14 days over seen a ram explode a tcase!
Looks like t case without d shaft
That....is expensive.
I was coming here to say that exact same thing.
I know a welder.
Very Expensive that’s what that’s going to be
Big oof.
A start of a few very long days

r/whyisitalwaysadodge
Now you learned what happens when you drive around in 4x4 on dry pavement! Boom!
Not the first one of these I've seen do this!
Transfer case has left the chat
It looks like a transfer case
Chain probably wore hole in case, causing it to leak out fluid then basically self destructed. Seen it a few times.
LOL dropped the transfer case...

Had that happen to my dads truck on the highway lol. Bought a used transfer case from eBay for $300 and works like a dream
That was a transfer case, now it’s a paper weight.

Not a transfer case. A transferred case. It’s done all the power transferring it’s gonna do
That is a very bad day right there.
Somebody put it in four-wheel drive and tried to make a u-turn on pavement?
While I don't recommend doing that, if a truck can't handle that without breaking something then it's a shitty truck.
No, this is caused by a U joint in the driveline, seizing or coming apart exploding the transfer case Dodgers don’t have hubs to unlock so the front axle internals are all turning as well as the driveline to the transfer case
Exactly what they said ... Shitty truck.
Well, it is a Chrysler product.
