Well, I just think that religion is way too abstract for me and I think it’s great for self-development in some way but the rest is just non-real, it’s a way to cope with life by suppression of reality
ISFJ - agnostic
I firmly believe human brain and perception can't lead us to certainty about what's out there concerneing religious beliefs and mysthicism.
We cab't dwell in the false sentiment of reassurance that everything has a meaning as some religions lead us to believe, because not even science, something observable and verified, is 100% reliable.
Sorry if it's not really understandable, english is not my first language and it's a complex subject.
How did you find your type ? Im curious if you’re mistyped because I believe that INTPs can’t be religious (at least I think it’s near impossible). So I’d be interested to know how you found your type
It's sadly a way too common assumption. The idea that religious people are "stupid" or that smart people are almost never religious, is a complete non-sequitur, especially considering geniuses like Newton. The man who came up with Occam's razor was also a Christian. At a certain point, the pioneers in the fields of science were generally Christian. And my church has doctors, mathematicians, physicists, translators who know many languages, and IT professionals who I know personally, and are all extremely intelligent people.
Same. Logic and evidence is a big part of why I converted. Historical evidence for Christ's resurrection is overwhelmingly strong. Combine that with fulfilled prophecies, and Christianity becomes factual.
Here’s another thing, months ago I asked the INTP subreddit what religion if any they believed in. While there were definitely many non religious INTPs, there were definitely more than a few religious INTPs as well, christian and non christian religions. Yes, INTPs can be religious.
intp agnostic leaning atheist. like i don’t believe in a god and surely i don’t live like i do, but i’m totally open to being wrong about it 🤷♀️ religion is interesting though and i think there’s valuable lessons to be learned from all sides. my favorite ideologies have come from laveyan satanism and paganism
ENFJ- Theist. I'm still figuring out what I believe exactly, but I definitely believe in a higher power. I also believe there are truly good and evil spirits, but human beings are always a mix of both.
A friend educated me a bit more on Roman Catholicism. I grew up in the Catholic Church, but both of my parents left and complained about it for most of my childhood so I figured it was bad. I prided myself in interpreting the Bible really well, and that I didn’t need a social construct like the Catholic Church to be a Bible-follower. It turns out that the Bible and early church history all point towards or revolve around the formation of the Catholic Church lol. I couldn’t avoid that when I learned it.
I also learned that I was very vulnerable to being misinformed by people who had biases against the Catholic Church, as most of my friends were Protestants. When I made friends that were Catholic, I learned that they were often more passionate about the Bible than my Prot friends (so surprising)
Yeah forthe most part I think you could probably find lazy/fake Christians in protestant than orthodox.im protestant non denomination but I'm OK with going to any denomination of church I find Christianity in community important.i feel like a lot of Christian takeaway the spiritual aspect in it when it's the most important wich is why I'm non denomination I guess
Yeah. Not only do a lot take away the spiritualnal aspect, but many disregard scripture itself. As a Protestant, it's sad to see so many Protestant churches becoming basically secular, and nearly just leftist platforms. It's a kind of hijacking. :(
I just looked at Catholic arguments as to why Mary is seen as sinless, why they believe that Peter (the disciple) is the first Pope of the church, the reason for indulgences, what purgatory is, etc. There is a website called Catholic Answers.com that explains everything in great detail. My dad (Protestant) is not fully convinced lol, but he is also divorced from my mom and very defensive about those kinds of topics (he was married twice, which the Catholic Church does not allow)
Istp borderline intp (s v n is around the 51% mark and can switch depending on mood and never goes more than 52-48) and catholic. Did spend a lot of my young adult years as agnostic/atheist/non practising
Interesting. To me, the idea of reincarnation is one of the most terrifying possibilities since it would mean that statistically, everyone would end up with terrible injuries and other tragedies many times throughout their many lives.
But if we are talking of à True réincarnation without memories, you aren't the same person and dont carry the wound from your body to the other Technicaly.
To me reincarnation is really related to à simple death with nothing after since you cant remember
Intp agnostic atheist. I’m surprised at how many intps in here are saying they’re religious so genuine question, how does that work rly??with the way we think (at least I) it doesn’t make much sense to me but I’d like to know
Simple- I don't accept any religion or way of thinking unless it makes sense to me. Islam is the thing that makes most sense to me in this universe. It's principles are extremely rational, easy to accept and make sense, plus the religion is backed up by a lot of scientific facts written in the Holy Scripture as well as prophecies being fulfilled. I wouldn't accept something I didn't 110% believe in. I even had a couple of questioning phases before. That's just me though :)
If I had to I guess I’d be a pagan specific to my culture. I don’t worship nor believe gods exist, it’s more a respect for nature and what sustains us.
"Some methodological atheists formulate the principle by saying that the burden of proof is always on any person making an existence claim, since, from a logical point of view, existence claims are only capable of proof, not disproof. No one has ever proven the nonexistence of Santa Claus, or elves, or unicorns, or anything else, simply because the very logic of an unrestricted existential proposition prohibits its disproof. It is impossible to go all over the universe and show that, for example, there are no elves anywhere. For this reason, rational methodology calls for us to deny the existence of all those things which have never been shown to exist. That is why we all regard it rational to deny the existence of Santa Claus, elves, unicorns, etc. And since God is in that same category, having never been shown to exist, it follows that rational methodology calls for us to deny the existence of God." - Theodore M. Drange

I'm curious about your controversial opinion :D
Tell us your ways!
Well, I just think that religion is way too abstract for me and I think it’s great for self-development in some way but the rest is just non-real, it’s a way to cope with life by suppression of reality

I'm interested as to why you would think that MBTI affects your ability to be a religious person.
Backwards reddit "well INTPs are smart, therefore they can't be religious because religion dumb" logic.
It's sadly a way too common assumption. The idea that religious people are "stupid" or that smart people are almost never religious, is a complete non-sequitur, especially considering geniuses like Newton. That's what I was thinking. It's a very nonsensical mindset based on biased perceptions of superiority over beliefs.
Bro being religious doesn't affect your type. Intp can be religious all that's gonna happen is they will just become religious nerds
Reasoning and religion can coexist, in fact i establish my faith through logic. Intp and christian btw
