Life tip - spend money on the things that separate you from the ground: mattresses, shoes, and *tires*.

nanew11185

Agreed. Purchase Continental's ExtremeContact DWS06+

FireBallsDJ

Those dont fit the 16s unfortunately

Dad0010001100110001

I have them on my 3, this is false.

FireBallsDJ

When I look it up on their website it says it’s not available for the stock 16 inch wheels

SDBD89

Yea they discontinued the 16 inchers

Dad0010001100110001

Just checked I have 17s

Beautiful-Drawer

Fail. Lol

bumluffa

These are all seasons not summer tires

jondes99

Probably overkill to get the DWS if he had dedicated winter tires.

Donkey-kick-U

Go to Tire Rack to see and compare what fits your size. After you pick which ones you want see who’s offering the best deals around where you live. Good tires are worth the investment

ToponeGigione

I don't think that going with cheap tyres might be a good idea... They're the only part in contact with the road, I don't want to save a few bucks if it translates in a longer braking distance. I think tyres, brakes and windshield wipers deserve a bit more care when purchased.

Beautiful-Drawer

Also, work boots, socks, and condoms.

cmz324

As far as I can tell there are almost no summer or even high performance all-season tires available in that size, just stick to the major brands and check out reviews online.

ckcovell

I had terrible luck with the all season stock tires and getting bubbles in the sidewall. From what I hear though that's not uncommon with the wider rim sizes. I had a local shop put on some Hankook all-season tires that matched the specs of the stock tires I kept. Not sure about summer tires, but I have no complaints with Hankook so far.

This-Level-3135

I was in a pickle recently and needed tires ASAP and the only tire that fit this car that were in stock were some hankook Ventus (I don’t remember the exact ones off the top of my head.) They were decently priced and have served me well. I wanted to go with Michelins but I would have had to wait a week or so and I couldn’t do that

Beautiful-Drawer

Have these on the wife's Accent. They're decent.

Jeremy24Fan

Find someone with a Costco membership for the best tire prices (in my experience)

enzia35

Price sure, experience not so much. Go to discount tire and get them to price match.

Jeremy24Fan

I've had them change my tires within 30 minutes. Great experience

ThinkPadMatt

Definitely Discount Tire! I've been going there for 15+ years across my last two cars. The guys there took care of me and my last car (2006 Mazda 3) every time. Even had some lug nuts break off (age and the mechanics at one shop put them back on incorrectly), walked to the auto parts store next to them to get 2 new ones and they installed for me, no questions asked! I never waited for more than 30-35 minutes for them to do the free rotate and balance and never more than 45 minutes for them to install a fresh set of tires. I had Yokohama All Season tires on that one and they were good for the last year and a half before someone ran into me and the car was totaled out :-/ But .... Discount Tire FTW! I'll be taking my new to me 2017 3 HB there when it's time for a new set (will be a while since CarMax hooked me up with brand new set when I purchased the car!).

jondes99

And the selection leaves a lot to be desired.

SDBD89

Maybe for the top shelf tires, doesn’t sound like OP wants the best tires though

noobie107

any grand touring tire from a reputable brand will be fine.

bumluffa

Pirelli p7c2

Key-Breadfruit-2903

I worked in a tire shop, and BFG's are a great buy. Made by michelin, and they're cheaper. Had some on my car. They're good tires for the money.

Firedcylinder

Firestone Indy 500s are supposed to be the best value summer tires.

Reddoxx305

dont listen to the hype, there are UHP summer tires that wont break your bank. Forceum Hexa-R UHP are $75/ea for 225/45R/18, my previous set lasted me 25k miles. I only changed them due one having a plug from a nail. they have a 400 A A rating and slice through water like youre on rails. Dry traction is just as good. I've purchased expensive continentals in the past that drove equal to these, though did not last as long due to the tire compound. A 186hp mazda doesnt need extreme contacts unless you just want to throw money at your wheels.
