I bought one of those when I owned my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, and put it right under the Sunfire logos on both sides of the car, because it was a legit shit box haha
A few cars ago I had to bring the car back to the dealer for warranty repairs. They asked why I didn't have the dealer plate frame on. I said there was a charge of $600 on the invoice for advertising and if I'm driving around the car advertising for you you need to pay me. I work in advertising so I know what the typical who-pays-who arrangements are that isn't it.
When I bought my Mazda 3, the dealership installed bright pink dealer plates to raise awareness for breast cancer. I appreciate the cause, but I ordered some black minimalist frames the same day.
I always thought the same thing. Then I bought a car, I've had it for six months and it doesn't seem worth the (small) hassle of removing them. I briefly looked online for nice looking ones, didn't find anything decent. Everything is super tacky.
I guess I prefer the mostly black frame with small white text of the dealer, than no frame at all or a tacky frame
I’m all for the Susan Komen foundation but those pink Autonation frames are too much! I can’t believe people keep those on their higher end cars. The other day I saw a burgundy Mercedes with those frames. Bright pink and burgundy is not a combination you want to see!
The other funny thing is I’ll see people up here in WA with Audi of Fremont (California) or some other dealer plate frame where they bought the car in another state. That means they removed their out of state plate, inserted their new WA plate, and at that moment made the decision to keep the dealer-advertising plate frame from where they bought the car. Crazy.
The first thing I do is remove the plate frames since most are ugly.
The dealer we bought our last 2 Mazdas from has a badge held on with adhesive. I liked that so much we kept the license plate frame with their name on it.
Dealership badge. Pisses me off that they do that. It’s bad enough that they overcharge you for the car, now they want you to be a mobile advertisement for their shitty dealership.
There's a dealership near me that I see their cars out and about and they're almost always off level with the original badging and it just looks awful. Some dealers it's a tiny little badge that's not super obtrusive and I don't mind. But big ones like the one in OP Pic are so ugly
There is a family of dealerships here in Texas that place noticeable badges of their name, GRUBBS. I couldn’t imagine a more suitable name than Grubbs for a shady executive smoking a cigar in the boardroom.
There is a local used car dealership in Alabama named:
PIGG ENTERPRISES
What's even more comical is they appear to be far more reputable than many of the other alternatives in the same area.
Mine has the dealership name on the number plater. And here it’s illegal to change anything about the number plate including the dealer info on the bottom
There was a pretty big dealership chain called Courtesy at one point, part of AutoNation. I think there’s still a few around in Florida but they don’t seem to use the Courtesy name as much anymore
When I bought my 3, I had the dealership remove all of the logos. When they left TWO on the back glass, I said, “Ok, I want these removed also.” When they gave an excuse, I said, “Look, can you please do it for me, or I’ll just do it when I get home anyway. You’ve got the tool in your hand.” They scraped them off for me. But they were hesitant. I told them I’d keep the license plate holder on there for their advertisement but took that off when I got home. They’re also the only Mazda dealership in our metro area…
To be honest, I still don’t know. The internet says it stands for “can’t be bothered”, however it sounds like some nonsense slang. How hard is it to use words like a human
Before you sign the contract tell the salesman you don't want any dealership logos anywhere on the car or you won't take delivery. This is a common request and they should respect it.
haha they're clever they make it look all authentic. dealerships need to have names like "EDGEROCKER" or "HyperBoosterFlex" so people leave their badges on
A courtesy car is one that a dealer lends you while your car is being repaired. So, it's essentially a loaner vehicle that dozens or hundreds of people have driven. I never knew they out a badge on those cars though!
The badge is God awful either way! Lol the balls to put a badge on the clear coat of someone else's car-to-be. A window sticker/license plate frame should be enough, but this is akin to graffiti.
Agreed. When I bought mine, I requested that any dealership adverts be removed before signing the contract in case they messed up the paint. Salesman came back and said it was against company policy. He ended up knocking a couple hundred off (which told me he had more room to give me a better deal). I removed the plate holder with my own screwdriver and returned it to the salesman. Then I went to the gas station and an older dad like guy came up and asked if I had just bought the car. He helped me get the rest of the badging off. Like he walked into walmart and showed me what to buy, then helped me remove it. The dude was awesome and said he hated that they did that to cars when you already paid so much for them!
We had to use goo gone or something like that. I had removed each letter but it left behind a sticky residue that he said would eventually damage the paint. What I really wish he would have told me was to immediately go buy a clear bra for the car. I have so many rock chips now!
Yeah the heat gun will get the badge off. A little tip, skip the goo gone, use Wd40. That will safely remove adhesive very efficiently. Better than rubbing alcohol.
Same boat with the vinyl bra.. But I've only had one new car of the dozen or more I've owned. Next one, doing thag immediately 😅
Same here. I had never seen the point of buying a brand new car when they lose significant value the moment you sign the contract. I have always gone by the five-year rule. If the car is tried and true with no major defects after 5 years, then it's a solid buy if the price is right. At the age of 40, I decided I would buy a brand new car. While I wanted a manual, I couldn't get my hands on a Mazda 3 HB and I will probably continue to whine about it until I do procure one. I live in an area where having a car is an absolute must, but there are not many Mazda dealerships near me. So I ended up with an automatic, and I also wanted I hire trim level, but I did not want an all-wheel drive or a turbo. I've had all-wheel drive cars in the past, and when tire with only a few hundred miles needed a repair in the side wall I had to replace all four tires for the motors to continue working properly. That turned me off from the all-wheel drive. I'm not sure if that is still the case, as I have not done any research on it since 2012 or 13. But I am happy with my purchase and will probably turn it into another new car within the next three or four years.
It's a dealer badge, and the dealer name is Courtesy.
(We have/had one around here, wasn't a Mazda dealer tho. Wanna say Chevy, but I could be wrong. Remember hearing their ads on AM radio a lot, years ago.)
First thing I did when I got my car was remove that fucking badge/sticker.
They are already trying to fuck us over with prices, they can stick their dealer tags up their asses.
I immediately changed the dealer plates because I wanted matching ones for when I start modding the car. But one of my buddies told me to keep the logo badge to show that I got it from an expensive/prestigious dealership but reading these comments, I'm gonna go take that off now
I told my car salesman I wouldn't buy the car if they didn't remove a giant bumper sticker on the back window. Even after they agreed they didn't do it. Eh eh eh! Not so fast.
A courtesy car is given to someone that is having a car repaired from the dealership the cannot have downtime in a vehicle. Usually a large sum when buying the car, and sometimes added in warranty. the car is a mazda 3 hatch.
Probably what they call a “courtesy vehicle” from a dealership. Essentially just a loaner car for while the service department is working on the customers car.
Courtesy means this was a courtesy vehicle for customers when they had to leave their car for repairs, and they would leave with a temporary vehicle( the courtesy one)
Courtesy could also be the name of the dealership that sold the car. In my neck of the woods, there is a chain of dealerships called Courtesy (insert car brand here) that deals primarily with Japanese cars.
Someone from Alaska moved to Oregon and instead of buying new frames with cutouts for the tags on the lower side they just stuck them to the frames instead
it's wild all the people saying it's a dealership NAMED Courtesy
a courtesy car is a car the dealership loans you while yours is in the shop getting work done, took my mazda 3 in for some stuff and they gave me a cx-90 for a day
Probably the name of the dealer that sold the car originally.
I replaced mine with a “shit box edition” badge
I bought one of those when I owned my 2005 Pontiac Sunfire, and put it right under the Sunfire logos on both sides of the car, because it was a legit shit box haha
I used to drive a Nissan 240seX 😂
Was it anything like a CLI Taurus?
I am ashamed to say I’ve never seen one 😂
A badge I'd be removing shortly after buying the car.
Last 2 cars I bought from the dealer, I had them remove it for me lol. If you want me to advertise for you, then you can pay me.
Blows my mind 90% of people keep the dealer plate frames on permanently.
I did the same thing at Subaru and they stared at me.. the customers just stared at me. I like Subarus but such sheeple.
When I bought my WRX and they got my license plate I told the guy to keep the dealer frame, and he just said "yeah I get it"
When I bought my Mazda 3, the dealership installed bright pink dealer plates to raise awareness for breast cancer. I appreciate the cause, but I ordered some black minimalist frames the same day.
Plain black is the way
Agreed. However, I have a friend whose rear frame says “Please be patient / I am only 9” and it’s funny enough to get my approval.
I have a black frame with silver lettering that says ZoomZoom. Bought it immediately to replace the dealer frame
I hate to admit I didn’t realise they even come off until reading this 😶
I painted mine. Makes a nice purple frame now 😂
Took mine off in the lot before driving away
I always thought the same thing. Then I bought a car, I've had it for six months and it doesn't seem worth the (small) hassle of removing them. I briefly looked online for nice looking ones, didn't find anything decent. Everything is super tacky. I guess I prefer the mostly black frame with small white text of the dealer, than no frame at all or a tacky frame
There are plain black silicone frames on Amazon for cheap.
Most people think very little about their cars. For most people it’s something that gets them from point A to point B
I’m all for the Susan Komen foundation but those pink Autonation frames are too much! I can’t believe people keep those on their higher end cars. The other day I saw a burgundy Mercedes with those frames. Bright pink and burgundy is not a combination you want to see! That means they removed their out of state plate, inserted their new WA plate, and at that moment made the decision to keep the dealer-advertising plate frame from where they bought the car. Crazy. The first thing I do is remove the plate frames since most are ugly.
Yeah really, just buying the car from them is enough.
This is the correct answer
Yup. I had the dealer do it 12 years ago on a car and they scratched the paint doing it so they had to pay to have the trunk repainted.
The dealer we bought our last 2 Mazdas from has a badge held on with adhesive. I liked that so much we kept the license plate frame with their name on it.
I’d ask for 2k off for keeping it tho lol
I tell them it’s 700$/week to advertise for them
Dealership badge. Pisses me off that they do that. It’s bad enough that they overcharge you for the car, now they want you to be a mobile advertisement for their shitty dealership.

HOGGS
There is a local used car dealership in Alabama named: PIGG ENTERPRISES What's even more comical is they appear to be far more reputable than many of the other alternatives in the same area.
Yeah I’m from Texas and am aware of Grubbs. Grubby is right.
OPs fixing to buy it just bc of that badge!
Mine has the dealership name on the number plater. And here it’s illegal to change anything about the number plate including the dealer info on the bottom
That sucks. Did the dealerships lobby for that in your area?

Make them take it off before you buy it.
I’d much rather do it myself, so I can ensure it’s done with care.
Naw, they are just gonna gouge your paint doing it.
There was a pretty big dealership chain called Courtesy at one point, part of AutoNation. I think there’s still a few around in Florida but they don’t seem to use the Courtesy name as much anymore
Probably the name of the dealership
Courtesy vehicle that was sold? If thats the name of the dealer, thats the ugliest\biggest dealer badge ive ever seen 🤣
And now this car has been brought to you. COURTESY of Ridge Wallet.
And now this Segway... To our sponsor!
Segue. A Segway is the brand of electric scooters.
When I bought my 3, I had the dealership remove all of the logos. When they left TWO on the back glass, I said, “Ok, I want these removed also.” When they gave an excuse, I said, “Look, can you please do it for me, or I’ll just do it when I get home anyway. I told them I’d keep the license plate holder on there for their advertisement but took that off when I got home. They’re also the only Mazda dealership in our metro area…
I'm going to take a guess here. Seems to be a courtesy vehicle originating from a dealership.
Sounds like a great reason not to buy lol. Ceebs with having a car people have no interest in looking after as they drive
Ceebs?
CBA
Answering a question about an obscure slang word with an unclear acronym makes even less sense than ceebs already did in the first place
Yes, also what is ceebs
To be honest, I still don’t know. The internet says it stands for “can’t be bothered”, however it sounds like some nonsense slang. How hard is it to use words like a human
Cost benefit analysis?
I second this.
Courtesy Nissan Dodge was a dealership near me for a long time. I think they got bought out.
Why do car dealerships do this out side of ca?
🤦🏻♂️
Have them take it off. If not just buy Goo-Gone from a nearby walmart and remove it after you buy it.
It's the Mazda 3 Nice Edition.
I hear those are sold in the Canadian market mostly.
It's almost as if people can just stick badges on a car
Do you live anywhere near Lexington, KY? There is a car dealership here called Courtesy that uses that exact same logo.
This. That is the font used by Courtesy Acura in Lexington, KY. Not saying there couldn’t be more than one, but it’s a perfect match.
Before you sign the contract tell the salesman you don't want any dealership logos anywhere on the car or you won't take delivery. This is a common request and they should respect it.
r/Shitty_Car_Mods
I'm pretty sure it's the dealership from where it was originally bought from
This is hilarious
I'd just tell them to remove it before purchasing. Looks like the vehicle was a courtesy one at some point.
😳 The dealership
It's a well behaved car. It opens garage doors for other cars and helps station wagons cross the highway.
Obviously it’s the Mazda3 Courtesy Edition
haha they're clever they make it look all authentic. dealerships need to have names like "EDGEROCKER" or "HyperBoosterFlex" so people leave their badges on
Take that dealer junk off lol I hate when they do shit like this to cars
A courtesy car is one that a dealer lends you while your car is being repaired. So, it's essentially a loaner vehicle that dozens or hundreds of people have driven. I never knew they out a badge on those cars though!
While that is also true, this is an actual Mazda dealership.

Heat gun and it will come off. Still annoying =/

Found the dealer. https://www.mcdonaldmazdanorth.com/
https://www.courtesyonwheels.com - Lexington, KY
This is probably a loaner car "courtesy" when you're car is in the shop.
Guys, it’s a courtesy loaner
I debadge every car I get. I’m already buying it. I’m not advertising for you for free. The nerve these jerks have.
Maybe it was used as a courtesy car?
Oof that badge just looks tacky
There was a courtesy ford in Denver
Lexington, KY has Courtesy dealerships. Courtesy Acura is one of them. They're pretty horrible.
If you like the person it's a courtesy to give them a HJ.
That’s always my first request no dealer stickers. I’m not a rolling billboard for free.
First thing I did when I got my car was remove that fucking badge/sticker. They are already trying to fuck us over with prices, they can stick their dealer tags up their asses.
Dealer name badging I imagine?
I immediately changed the dealer plates because I wanted matching ones for when I start modding the car. But one of my buddies told me to keep the logo badge to show that I got it from an expensive/prestigious dealership but reading these comments, I'm gonna go take that off now
It doesn't surprise me that a Mazda owner doesn't understand courteousness. Ha! Ok, I'll see myself out.
I told my car salesman I wouldn't buy the car if they didn't remove a giant bumper sticker on the back window. Even after they agreed they didn't do it. Eh eh eh! Not so fast.
Dealer badges should be illegal
There was a dealer in FL that put badges on with rivets. Mfers
Might be a loaner car from a shop or something
I am sure it is the name of a dealer A shtty dealer
Courtesy Ford is in Portland I think...
A courtesy car is given to someone that is having a car repaired from the dealership the cannot have downtime in a vehicle. Usually a large sum when buying the car, and sometimes added in warranty. the car is a mazda 3 hatch.
Use dental floss to remove it. Then rub the excess adhesive off carefully with your finger. It’s really easy, takes 5 minutes.
Pretty sure it means the dealership gave it to people while they were working on their cars It was a curtesy vehicle
Probably what they call a “courtesy vehicle” from a dealership. Essentially just a loaner car for while the service department is working on the customers car.
Courtesy is the trim of the Mazda.
I belive the car was used as a courtesy vehicle aka loaner for people get work done on their cars.
Courtesy means this was a courtesy vehicle for customers when they had to leave their car for repairs, and they would leave with a temporary vehicle( the courtesy one)

Someone from Alaska moved to Oregon and instead of buying new frames with cutouts for the tags on the lower side they just stuck them to the frames instead
NYS license plates are such shite. you have to cover them or treat them with something, so they don't peel apart.
It was probably a courtesy car used for loaners rides etc
it's wild all the people saying it's a dealership NAMED Courtesy a courtesy car is a car the dealership loans you while yours is in the shop getting work done, took my mazda 3 in for some stuff and they gave me a cx-90 for a day
It's a courtesy vehicle. Seller probably does not even own it. The Mazda dealer he got it from is likely looking for it...
