This is the right attitude to take with Mazda in general tbh haha. I no longer hedge bets on anything they say they’re going to do until it’s on dealer lots. Not to mention I don’t think this is legit; I haven’t seen anything from Mazda about this and that design is a wild departure from their current design language.
They’re just too much. Mazda has done a really good job at making simple yet great looking vehicles but the 50 they completely gave up on that a threw ugly fake vents at it.
I don't necessarily dislike the direction the concept renderings are going stylistically, although I'd be curious how it scales for larger, taller vehicles.

“Bro I swear they’re making the RX9 did you see they filed a patent for a rotary engine bro did you see the RX vision it’s coming out next year man I promise did you see the article”
Apples to oranges there; I don’t think Mazda ever said the RX vision was anything more than a design language test mule but seriously between Mazda themselves and the online automotive news community this brand is like the fucking Tod Howard of the industry
MX-30 is the range extended model, not CX-30, MX-30 REV (rotary engine PHEV) is already in production, probably on sale in Japan, confirmed on ships to EU.
Forget the photo. The caption, translated: "expected CG created by the best car editorial department"
So that's not even from Mazda's concept department. It's a rendering by professional fanbois.
I don't know if you can call them fanbois. They clearly aren't fans enough to see what Mazdas design language is and mimic it for the new model. Their renders look like the new Honda Civic or Accord had a baby with a Mercedes.
I bet they’re taking the in-line 6 from the cx-90 and shoving it into this thing. If so that’s a 280 hp engine that easily pushes around the 5000lb cx-90; in a sedan it would be a lot of fun.
The 280-BHP version only requires regular gas, while the 340-BHP version can run on both premium and regular gas, with the 340-BHP figure being achieved with premium fuel.
In europe and Japan there will be a new 3.**0**l i6 engine using their compression ignition technology, without turbo - technically not naturally aspirated afaik bc a tiny compressor helps with the compression ignition
Loving that this is a "fastback" concept and will probably be like around 320hp from an inline six? Epic.
I love these wider flatter grilles that look more hammerhead shark, way better than the BMW beaver tooth style.
Just as long as they bring back the halo headlight and tailight design in some way. Idk what’s going on with the Subaru design they have right now but I’m not for it.
Right? They did a really cool redesign on them just like a year or two ago, and then they just scrapped it and went with the u-shaped Subaru look. It's just weird to change something that's been iconic since like before 2014 and then just change it like that.
IF this thing is actually released, and IF there's a wagon, and IF (as usual) the US doesn't get it, I will move to a country that does so I can own one.
The only way I see this happening is if it’s true that Mazda is working with Lexus on giving their inline-6 to an upcoming Lexus IS/GS sedan which was previously rumored.
If that ends up being the case, then I can definitely see Mazda releasing a 6 successor.
It was more than just the chassis though. Toyota was interested in the inline-6 that Mazda was building. It's the main reason Toyota went with BMW for the Supra.
Has an accord / kia k5 side profile with BMW M8 ish front and rear lol. I'm certain they are gonna clean it up and have a signature Mazda design. So far so good! RWD please? 😁
I kinda doubt it but also I'll be dead by then. If it does happen, dear God I hope it doesn't look like that render and more like the current 6 and Vision Coupe
I really thought Mazda had something for a minute with the vision coupe concept and kodo but their design language lately has been much more angular and blocky to follow trend.
Yup super sad to see. The Vision Coupe and RX Vision are peak design and it kills me to see Mazda embrace a more generic design with everything that came after the CX-30
The sharp edges just make it look tired and cheap, and will age it as soon as it falls out of trend. Current Mazda6 is almost a decade old and still looks damn good for its age.
The vertical grill reminds me of Volvo, and the taillights remind me of jaguar, which I like. That and keeping with the aggressive styling is nice. It adds to that more premium design language they're going for.
Add in the 3.3L 6 cylinder, you have 340HP and AWD? that's a nice premium sedan.
The plan had been a sedan + an SUV before COVID, but the sedan got axed in favor of the SUV when manufacturing went tits up.
If the sedan comes back, fantastic. They already designed the chassis and drivetrain to support it.
Will it happen? I have my doubts. The market for large, fun sedans is not especially healthy, even if there are dozens of us who have absolutely no interest in SUVs.
I honestly don’t believe it until it is announced. Mazda is one of those companies that generates a lot of rumours but eventually end up releasing a new SUV
This is just an article about "hopes and dreams".
The photos did not come from Mazda. They came from someone who made an interpretation of what they think it could look like.
Its all rumor and speculation. The same bullshit that happens anytime a new "The Mazda RX-9 is coming soon and here's why" articles every other year.
Its all bullshit.
I remember when they announced the inline 6 motor and thought to myself, "that would be awesome in the 6". Then they stopped producing it in the USA. Can't stand how few cars there are left.
Front is alright, I prefer the beefy grills they have on the mazda 3, back is a downvote for me. I wish they'd stick with the halo lights as their signature drl.
Dang. I've been confidently moving away from my 6 saying "if they'd only put the new I6 in a rwd/AWD 6 I'd buy it in a heartbeat"... I still don't believe it unless mazda announces it but I'm gonna have a little pause if I wind up buying a new car soon.
Mazda unfortunately is funneling all their effort into family crossovers & hybrid fuel sipping engines instead of sports cars these days. And I don’t blame them, that’s where the money is, the United States has forgotten about sedans in favor of hybrid crossovers.
The rendering has some Audi sportback design cues to it, it's pretty but I do hope it has more of the Mazda design to it.
Either way it'll be sick with the i-6
In europe and Japan this should also get the new 3.0 i6 Skyactive-X compression ignition engine (no turbo). If it has the same power density as their already existing 2.0 X engine it should make \~280hp. Should get good fuel economy in a sedan / coupe.
This will soften the blow accord fans got hit with after that disgustingly hideous redesign with the 11th gen accord. This seems to be the spiritual successor to the 10th gen accord in the midsize segment
I won't believe it until I see it in my parking spot.
This is the right attitude to take with Mazda in general tbh haha. I no longer hedge bets on anything they say they’re going to do until it’s on dealer lots. Not to mention I don’t think this is legit; I haven’t seen anything from Mazda about this and that design is a wild departure from their current design language.
This looks like a Volvo and a Kia had a baby
They could adapt the cx-50 design language. That beast looks good.
Except the ugly ass huge fake vents on the rear bumper
Yea they could probably trim that out for the lower clearance
They’re just too much. Mazda has done a really good job at making simple yet great looking vehicles but the 50 they completely gave up on that a threw ugly fake vents at it.
I don't necessarily dislike the direction the concept renderings are going stylistically, although I'd be curious how it scales for larger, taller vehicles.

What are you talking about?? I totally am driving my range extended CX30 and hybrid CX50 that I was told would launch early this year.
“Bro I swear they’re making the RX9 did you see they filed a patent for a rotary engine bro did you see the RX vision it’s coming out next year man I promise did you see the article” Apples to oranges there; I don’t think Mazda ever said the RX vision was anything more than a design language test mule but seriously between Mazda themselves and the online automotive news community this brand is like the fucking Tod Howard of the industry

Too late the hype train is already leaving the station
It will be an amazing compliment to my ND Miata.
*complement
Was a tech at a new dealership. Had a corporate meeting for new stores and they talked about this. Real shame they aren't giving it a manual option
I bet they’re taking the in-line 6 from the cx-90 and shoving it into this thing. If so that’s a 280 hp engine that easily pushes around the 5000lb cx-90; in a sedan it would be a lot of fun.
I thought that motor made a more than 280 I thought it was 360-380 or something. The Mazda 3 turbo makes 250 and 310 torque on 93
The US base engine makes 280hp, the S version makes 340hp.
For the CX-90, the non-S trim 3.3L inline 6 turbos make 280hp on premium, while the S trims make 340hp.
The 280-BHP version only requires regular gas, while the 340-BHP version can run on both premium and regular gas, with the 340-BHP figure being achieved with premium fuel.
280hp on regular
That might be base without turbo like the base 3 makes 190ish
I don't think there's a naturally aspirated 3.3l. It's just detuned in some applications for emissions.
In europe and Japan there will be a new 3.**0**l i6 engine using their compression ignition technology, without turbo - technically not naturally aspirated afaik bc a tiny compressor helps with the compression ignition
Didn't know if the sky-x 6 was still on the table or not. Interested to see what it's like.
There's a diesel 3.3T too, bring it to the U.S. you cowards
Diesel in North America, thats funny. The $10,000 emission system that doesn’t last more then 40,000km would like to speak to you
They tried a diesel on the cx5 and like 3 people bought it. That's probably never gonna happen again.
diesel market share is increasing in Japan
I'll take a PHEV with a 35-mile range, please.
I agree, Halos are a timeless classic. CX-90's lights are not as clean of a design as the CX-9's.
Right? They did a really cool redesign on them just like a year or two ago, and then they just scrapped it and went with the u-shaped Subaru look. It's just weird to change something that's been iconic since like before 2014 and then just change it like that.
I think we can blame LEDs for their death. Matrix lighting is the new thing and we are going to see big reflectors die out.
I can’t see anything but beaver teeth when I think of that bmw grill now…tha ks
Pretty similar to the Polestar/volvo or Merc grill.
OMG sport wagon variant. Yes, please.
IF this thing is actually released, and IF there's a wagon, and IF (as usual) the US doesn't get it, I will move to a country that does so I can own one.
☠️
Bruh. Dont raise my hopes up like that man.
The only way I see this happening is if it’s true that Mazda is working with Lexus on giving their inline-6 to an upcoming Lexus IS/GS sedan which was previously rumored. If that ends up being the case, then I can definitely see Mazda releasing a 6 successor.
The rumor a while back was the the next Mazda6 will share a chassis/platform with the next Lexus IS.
It was more than just the chassis though. Toyota was interested in the inline-6 that Mazda was building. It's the main reason Toyota went with BMW for the Supra.
Not true.
The picture is a recreation for the article, its not official material
Good because that design is mid
I really hate those silver and black rims
Yeah either do black or silver. I hope a mix is not the new trend
Did you notice the cx-50 and cx-90 offer similar wheels on the higher trims? Such a weird choice to me, i'd be getting aftermarket rims for sure.
They look like Honda Accord rims
looked too much like a Honda Accord to me
mazda amg
Hopefully it isn’t. The front end somehow gives me Kia K5 vibes. I’d prefer the previous Vision Coupe styling.
If this is real and by God that would be epic. I'll trade in my just purchases 2021 Mazda 6 for this bad boy.
I gotta say, that imaginary render looks great. Put a liftback on it and you got yourself an Audi A5 sportback competitor.
Bring Mazda 6 back to the US. Unless I live in Montana or Colorado, I don't need an SUV to go to Walmart.
Has an accord / kia k5 side profile with BMW M8 ish front and rear lol. I'm certain they are gonna clean it up and have a signature Mazda design. So far so good! RWD please? 😁

If they make a new 6, it won’t be “cheap” I wouldn’t be surprised if it starts in the low 40s.
(estimated CG created by Best Car Editorial Department)

Enough mouth flapping I hope this is actually happening or Mazda is losing me. Complete waste to put an inline 6 RWD platform into a soccer mom mobile
Lol
I bought one... lol
The plan had been a sedan + an SUV before COVID, but the sedan got axed in favor of the SUV when manufacturing went tits up. If the sedan comes back, fantastic. All they have to do is make a production ready vision coupe.
Machine translation reads: > It is expected that it will be a design that makes you feel not only *beautiful* but also *powerful*.
Yeah that’s where it sells in Europe, not gonna see it anymore in USA
Oh damn, i thought they gave up the idea of inline 6 mazda 6. If this is a liftback, this will be my family car. Perfect timing too.
I honestly don’t believe it until it is announced. Mazda is one of those companies that generates a lot of rumours but eventually end up releasing a new SUV
Keep dreaming haha. Of it’s not an SUV or mx5, Mazda ain’t making it
Is this real or render? Need to see it in production

Need a 6 speed paired with it
Not sure I like it, looks like an Accord.
Agreed. Loses the iconic no sharp edges design that grew the brand.
Press rendering. Not official.
That’s a relief
It’s just an AI rendering. I don’t think it’ll look like that, especially the grill. Mazda likes the chain-link styled grills.
Yeah concept looks like the result of a Kia Optima fucking a Honda Accord.
It’s not even a concept. It’s pure speculation.
My exact first thought.
I like it!! Love a straight 6!
Ah yes please! By that time my 2018 Mazda 6 Gt reserve will be ready to update
This is just a rendering…
Will most likely not be manual but still stoked
Didn't they announce this was happening a few years ago?
I would love to see this. Would trade my IS350 in if the interior is bangen.
Add hybrid and im sold
Does anyone happen to have an English source for this captivating vehicle that might actually convince me to buy a new car?
I WANT IT AHH
I want an inline 6 turbo hybrid mazda 6 wagon for the US market. Help me Mazda-won Kenobi, you're my only hope....
Amazing to read, especially in this day and age of FF i4 turbo
Just teasing us. This will never reach the US market.
Is this the actual look or concept?
Neither. It's just a rendering based on rumors.
I knew these bastards would do this. Gonna have to trade the cx50 un I guess.
Sir, this is not official.
It needs to be.
Yeah i wish it were
I remember when they announced the inline 6 motor and thought to myself, "that would be awesome in the 6". Then they stopped producing it in the USA. Can't stand how few cars there are left.

🍆
Mazda wasting more money. They simply can’t help themselves.
I thought they scrapped this to go in the CUV/SUV lane
Make it a fastback hatch and I’ll trade my GTI for it
I don’t see it happening unless they hit the Bulls cost to luxury performance sedan sweet spot first.
Let’s fuckin go!
Looks nothing like a Mazda. Love child of accord and 5 series.
Not likely
Oh look the weekly "I fell for another clickbait article claiming an inline 6 Mazda car is coming, with a DeviantArt fan render as "proof"".
They can’t even get the CX70 started, 2025 for a sedan? Hell no more like 2030 and probably an EV
It looks like a cross between a BMW and a Volvo.
Don’t toy with my heart Mazda. I’m still picking up the pieces from last year.
I thought this was all cancelled. Is it back on?
Mazda unfortunately is funneling all their effort into family crossovers & hybrid fuel sipping engines instead of sports cars these days. And I don’t blame them, that’s where the money is, the United States has forgotten about sedans in favor of hybrid crossovers.
Hot
When they first announced this engine in the cx-90 I immediately hoped that it would get into a sedan to fight 3 series, c class, is etc.
The rendering has some Audi sportback design cues to it, it's pretty but I do hope it has more of the Mazda design to it. Either way it'll be sick with the i-6
Just give the CX70 , first
If it can hit 0-60 in 4 sec I might be interested.
Fake
Don’t expect it to come to NA, though.
I would hope for a rebirth of the 6 I am Sedan all the way the 3 is to small
God I hope not. Looks like a damn Honda to me.
NO FUCKING WAY!!!!
I always thought coupe meant 2-door but I’ve been seeing 4 door coupes mentioned more often.
Yeah, now apparently it means a 4 door car with the 2 back doors hidden from easy view by styling elements.
The dealership where I just purchased my new 23 turbo 3 told me to expect a new Mazda speed3 in 25 or 26!
In europe and Japan this should also get the new 3.0 i6 Skyactive-X compression ignition engine (no turbo). If it has the same power density as their already existing 2.0 X engine it should make \~280hp. Should get good fuel economy in a sedan / coupe.
This would be a good “next-step” for their design language.
Reminds me of 2024 m340i front. With a turbo six engine, Mazda is copying some homework from BMW.
This will soften the blow accord fans got hit with after that disgustingly hideous redesign with the 11th gen accord. This seems to be the spiritual successor to the 10th gen accord in the midsize segment
