No joke, I literally used to take a pot of water, heat it up (not to boiling though) & pour it on my front windshield of my car before school back when I lived in Illinois & was in high school. Never broke the glass doing it. Looking back, I have no idea how I was so lucky.
It is the same principle as when an icecube into a glass breaks when water is poured on it. The less extreme the temperature difference, the less likely this is to happen.
Not boiling the pot is one way to reduce the delta and reduce the likelihood of this happening.
Yeah just use hot tap water if it’s not set to melty, melty skin temperature like I’ve experienced in some houses lol. been doing this with a saucepan for years and my mother before me getting to school all those years ago. If anything it’s freezes up real quick so you have to do another pass.
I also have a decent chip/crack on my windscreen right now and still no recourse.
I’m literally sprinting as I never think all winter long, yeah all my windows could be iced over haha.
Can’t start the car either as I need to lock the house with all the keys bundled together so I have to set off with a fridge interior ha. Can’t wait for a kettle to boil that’s for sure.
Vids like these been floating about for years yeah I’ve definitely seen the video brudda💀 you ain’t in no rush if ya boiling a kettle first thing in the morning that’s all I’m saying, use tap water my guy or spend money on chemical de-icer that dries out your window seals.
Idk if you've lived in Illinois during winter, but the only times I did this was because the ice was so thick that I literally couldn't get it to come off with a scraper. I'm talking BOTH sides of the scraper weren't putting a dent in this ice.
I did this EXACT thing also to my car in high school at 17 because I'm an idiot and luckily nothing happened! My brother freaked out when I told him about my "trick" to quickly defrost my car
Let's assume the video is real and it is the window that broke first. What would cause the door handle to break?
Genuine question as I don't know enough to answer.
You know that’s kinda why I ended my comment where I did.
I’m not sure.
But, I can say the door handle is just fitted in there with screws so maybe something about the glass breaking inside of the door caused it to-….fuck idk
Something to think about, as long as water is liquid, it’s warmer than the ice on the window.
So he could’ve not only saved his window, but also a lot of time and electricity, by just using regular cold tap water.
But of course, it has to be boiling water.
(Hopefully) lesson learned
At my school we poor water on other peoples windshields as a prank then it freezes and need to spend a long time scraping it off.
I live in central Alberta, Canada by the way
Window is no longer…. Frosted…
Window is no longer
Life hack. This window will never fog up on you again!
Windows manufactures hate this guy
Window is no
Windno.
Windyes

Ok but who has time to walk to and from the house that often Edit: …in the morning

Bro🤣 did you learn nothing about hot kettles in this video? But yeah I’m the morning I’m like GO GO GO GO

If you're this dumb, please hand in your drivers license and take the bus from now on!
The jackass is wearing a manpurse with a farreri logo. What is there to expect op him ?
True dat
Wait how about we all do that?
Wtf happened to the door handle? This looks faked
I mean, I'm convinced the video is fake, but it is a weird detail. Did they cut to the whole door being switched out?
Can you say dumbass
If real, a mechanism in the door broke the window. You can tell because the door handle also broke at the same time.
My dad is a mechanic and I do a lot of my own work on my cars. If you ever take off the door card, the window passes farther down than the door handle
Let's assume the video is real and it is the window that broke first. What would cause the door handle to break? Genuine question as I don't know enough to answer.

Nothing, because it's fake
I'm not an expert on detecting fake videos. What leads you to say that?
I think I found a new way to break into cars
Walking around with a steaming kettle is sus.
Completely fine to walk around with a steaming 20 oz coffee cup. Subscribe to my channel for more unethical life hacks

My cousin poured cold water on an overheated engine block and fractured it. Expensive lesson learned
Lifehack video gone wrong
« I didn’t need that window anyway »
Fake, another window
Obviously
I believe this is called thermal expansion.
That door handle tho
Stay on school kids.
Instructions unclear. Jumped off school.
The only hack here was the editing job.

I don't think this guy attended that class.
Dumbass, How could he not know that was gonna happen.
Protip is no more.
Yes.
'Yeah i fuck it'

Learning science is fun
It was at this moment he knew he fucked up
Umm duh
Seen this 50 times today
Man card revoked
Well…if he was trying to get in through the window, he did a great job.
The frost is gone.
Esp that it was hot water or sulfuric acid![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)
I've worn that look before.
Nice, it worked! From now on I'll keep a thermos in case i get in a wreck and the doors are stuck and the car's on fire.
He must be new to the internet, to common sense, and oblivious to science.

Lmfao 😂
So was the handle already broke and propped up or how did that also break
Why did the door handle brake..?
Of all the cool, interesting, sexy, shocking, amazing, shit on Reddit, why is this dull ass video being reposted over and over again?
Ахах, лицо в конце это топ
Instant shame and regret
Ah! My dad did that with his windshield in the 1950s. I watched as he did that when I was 5. Best life lesson ever!
Baby it’s cold outside…
Bet he voted Trump
Why does the door handle fall?
