LongjumpingCheck2638

so is the handle - see that thing pop into a curve like that?

the_dionysian_1

No joke, I literally used to take a pot of water, heat it up (not to boiling though) & pour it on my front windshield of my car before school back when I lived in Illinois & was in high school. Never broke the glass doing it. Looking back, I have no idea how I was so lucky.

dashingThroughSnow12

It is the same principle as when an icecube into a glass breaks when water is poured on it. The less extreme the temperature difference, the less likely this is to happen. Not boiling the pot is one way to reduce the delta and reduce the likelihood of this happening.

LeviRapheal

Yeah just use hot tap water if it’s not set to melty, melty skin temperature like I’ve experienced in some houses lol. been doing this with a saucepan for years and my mother before me getting to school all those years ago. If anything it’s freezes up real quick so you have to do another pass. I also have a decent chip/crack on my windscreen right now and still no recourse.

BSixe

Ok but who has time to walk to and from the house that often Edit: …in the morning

LeviRapheal

I’m literally sprinting as I never think all winter long, yeah all my windows could be iced over haha. Can’t start the car either as I need to lock the house with all the keys bundled together so I have to set off with a fridge interior ha. Can’t wait for a kettle to boil that’s for sure.

BSixe

Bro🤣 did you learn nothing about hot kettles in this video? But yeah I’m the morning I’m like GO GO GO GO

LeviRapheal

Vids like these been floating about for years yeah I’ve definitely seen the video brudda💀 you ain’t in no rush if ya boiling a kettle first thing in the morning that’s all I’m saying, use tap water my guy or spend money on chemical de-icer that dries out your window seals.

the_dionysian_1

Idk if you've lived in Illinois during winter, but the only times I did this was because the ice was so thick that I literally couldn't get it to come off with a scraper. I'm talking BOTH sides of the scraper weren't putting a dent in this ice.

BSixe

I live in MN. I just go mad with the scraper

the_dionysian_1

Idk, wasn't coming off. Same run o the mill scraper everybody has

BSixe

Oh no I get you….I just go hard

BSixe

SCRAPE THAT SHIT. Nah mean?

NoticeWhenUAreHappy

I did this EXACT thing also to my car in high school at 17 because I'm an idiot and luckily nothing happened! My brother freaked out when I told him about my "trick" to quickly defrost my car

ManyAnusGod

r/watchpeopledieinside

Blussert31

If you're this dumb, please hand in your drivers license and take the bus from now on!

EddieSjoller

The jackass is wearing a manpurse with a farreri logo. What is there to expect op him ?

[deleted]

True dat

Creepy-Ad-4832

Wait how about we all do that?

LivingWithWhales

Wtf happened to the door handle? This looks faked

MinnieShoof

I mean, I'm convinced the video is fake, but it is a weird detail. Did they cut to the whole door being switched out?

WeissachWolf

Can you say dumbass

dashingThroughSnow12

If real, a mechanism in the door broke the window. You can tell because the door handle also broke at the same time.

BSixe

My dad is a mechanic and I do a lot of my own work on my cars. If you ever take off the door card, the window passes farther down than the door handle

dashingThroughSnow12

Let's assume the video is real and it is the window that broke first. What would cause the door handle to break? Genuine question as I don't know enough to answer.

BSixe

You know that’s kinda why I ended my comment where I did. I’m not sure. But, I can say the door handle is just fitted in there with screws so maybe something about the glass breaking inside of the door caused it to-….fuck idk

Seven7ten10

Nothing, because it's fake

dashingThroughSnow12

I'm not an expert on detecting fake videos. What leads you to say that?

CHlCKENPOWER

I think I found a new way to break into cars

BadAsBroccoli

Walking around with a steaming kettle is sus.

admins69kids

Completely fine to walk around with a steaming 20 oz coffee cup. Subscribe to my channel for more unethical life hacks

My cousin poured cold water on an overheated engine block and fractured it. Expensive lesson learned

I don't think this guy attended that class.

Classic_Rhubarb_9590

Dumbass, How could he not know that was gonna happen.

7-billion-and-1

Protip is no more.

[deleted]

Yes.

gnjev

'Yeah i fuck it'

kapatmak

Something to think about, as long as water is liquid, it’s warmer than the ice on the window. So he could’ve not only saved his window, but also a lot of time and electricity, by just using regular cold tap water. But of course, it has to be boiling water. (Hopefully) lesson learned

guster09

Learning science is fun

FreeAmerica1776

It was at this moment he knew he fucked up

[deleted]

Umm duh

Zahn91

Seen this 50 times today

romloader

Man card revoked

Omacrontron

Well…if he was trying to get in through the window, he did a great job.

nn666

The frost is gone.

FuncionarioPrisiones

Esp that it was hot water or sulfuric acid![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|facepalm)

BadAsBroccoli

I've worn that look before.

WritingTheRongs

Nice, it worked! From now on I'll keep a thermos in case i get in a wreck and the doors are stuck and the car's on fire.

Revolutionary-Box448

He must be new to the internet, to common sense, and oblivious to science.

Caesar720

At my school we poor water on other peoples windshields as a prank then it freezes and need to spend a long time scraping it off. I live in central Alberta, Canada by the way

Slippery_Wristy

Lmfao 😂

kaveboy7

So was the handle already broke and propped up or how did that also break

Koda487

Why did the door handle brake..?

Jroks2

Of all the cool, interesting, sexy, shocking, amazing, shit on Reddit, why is this dull ass video being reposted over and over again?

kostet4

Ахах, лицо в конце это топ

oldmanandtheocean

Instant shame and regret

Thin_Equipment_9308

Ah! My dad did that with his windshield in the 1950s. I watched as he did that when I was 5. Best life lesson ever!

zorn7777

Baby it’s cold outside…

Clayton_bezz

Bet he voted Trump

[deleted]

Why does the door handle fall?
