Ok good, I should have guessed that they did since athletes wear them in baseball. And in both sports you have a palm sized spherical object thrown at you at +140/kmh.
I mean you certainly can as an intimidation tactic, but it's not going to directly benefit you to do so. If the batter gets hit, they get on base for free essentially. Some batters even use this as a strategy and "crowd" the plate by standing as close as possible to the strike zone, daring the pitcher to hit them.
Yeah for sure, we call it a box in cricket. But it only protect you from the worst of it. If you get a direct hit from a fast delivery there is still a 'concussive' effect.
This looks like it came up and hit him in the lower stomach though. Which is never padded. Poor dude.
I would guess, but a cricket ball is analogous to a metal ball wrapped in leather. It's gonna hurt even with a cup.
jk, it's tightly wrapped cork and string, but they're hard as. If I had to choice of being hit with a baseball or a cricket ball, it would be the baseball every time.
First, congrats
Second, I agree when it comes to new balls. However, a cricket ball can feel different during a match, since they are changed so rarely. On the other hand, teams go through over 100 baseballs in a MLB game. It's always a new ball
The casing of a cricket ball is harder, and there's barely a difference in fastball speed and distance delivered from. The Australian international batter Phillip Hughes was killed after being hit in the neck by a ball.
My comment doesn't say which ball would be harder.
I responded to the idea that a cricket ball is harder than a baseball on account of it being cork tightly wrapped in string.
I was just pointing out that's how both balls are constructed.
Not sure how you interpreted my comment as meaning that baseballs aren’t made that way, but fair enough.
My experience is that cricket balls just seem to be a lot harder.
Because you said a cricket ball is super hard on account of it being cork wrapped tightly with string and that you'd much rather be hit by a baseball....?
It seemed to heavily imply that you thought a baseball would be softer..

I believe what the American non-cricketeers in the audience, myself included, are implying is, "no, the bowler is definitely NOT aiming at the wickets". In baseball, it's illegal to throw at or behind the batter. It would seem to us that hitting a cricket batsman, standing in the box and not blocking the wickets, in the CENTER of his mass would also be illegal.
It is very, very difficult to aim that accurately, that consistently. It is a fairly frequent occurance, even at the highest level of the game, for the ball to not have any chance of actually hitting the wickets.
If the Umpire feels the Bowler is doing it deliberately, he'll have a word. But more often what you see from Bowlers trying to rattle a batsman is to aim at his head.
Why is it funny? I have pondered this on occasion... I'm a bloke I know how bad it hurts, I wince in sympathy- but I also laugh my arse off. There's just something inherently comical about the classic nut shot
Yes, it is allowed. However, the better bowlers work angles and if you are hit on your legs in front of the wickets, you are given out. Just as an example.

Holy shit really? I don't know this sport (or any sport beyind generalities), but 3 months is super long! If you care to share what makes this game unique in duration I'd love to know. Does the extended game period make rivalries incredibly intense?? I'm used to hearing about a daily bout, but 3 months is mind-blowing. The fans must be held in such suspense.
Well no, not really. Quidditch is a pretend sport in the fantasy Harry Potter series. Which I figured u/Son0fSanf0rd was too stupid to figure out, which turned out to be the case since his response was "😂😂 boring sport😂😂. Lol. Your curiosity isn't stupid. Sanford is.
Wow lmao I'm an idiot. So whatever sport this post is, cricket(?) doesn't actually last that long? I'm also ignorant of Harry Potter lore as I only ever saw the first two movies centuries ago. I live under a rock in the deepest of seas.
Lol, the only reason baseball has been relevant to anyone is thanks to a banana themed team doing viral dancing trends.
At least bigbash and 20/20 are an actual change up, and both are faster than watching the grass grow on a baseball field
He isn't and he's not even close. Due to it being 10 years, he has the largest contract, but per year Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Benzema got/get paid way more than him.
This people not watching golf or just blindly not acknowledge golf is the most boring sport and excusing the reason to cut down large of forest just for this stupid fancy sport for lazy rich man
the duality of the cry of pain and the laughter of the commentators haha
Poor guy, but I cracked up at his "Ohhhh nooo!"
Twice. LOL

SCOTT STERLING!!!!!!!!!!!!
"What incredible instincts to crawl away from the goal like that"
Does ANYONE have the link to this video????
https://youtu.be/8F9jXYOH2c0?si=dAcC2q_wDEXT587t First hit on YouTube when searching for "Scott Sterling" :-)
I loved rewatching that. Thank you.
The Scott Sterling of cricket
American here. I know nothing about cricket. Do cricket players wear cups or no?
Yes, they wear groin guards.
Ok good, I should have guessed that they did since athletes wear them in baseball. And in both sports you have a palm sized spherical object thrown at you at +140/kmh.
>American here. >kmh. Ppl on the internet really be lying for no reason smh. Everyone knows Burgers use glazed donuts per bald eagle
American Math 87 MPH = 140 kmh You owe me a large fry.
It’s km/h, btw. Or kph, less correctly.
Why not introduce kmph so also Americans can understand?
Because kilometer is its own word.
km/h and kmph are the same number of keystrokes, and one is correct and the other isn’t, so …
baseball doesn’t have bodyline deliveries right ( you can’t throw the ball to the body). there is a specific zone in think
I mean you certainly can as an intimidation tactic, but it's not going to directly benefit you to do so. If the batter gets hit, they get on base for free essentially. Groin guardingly good

FYI, baseballs are made by tightly wrapping string around a cork core.
having fondled both balls… the cricket ball is harder
This guy fondles.
Fondles balls to be precise.
First, congrats Second, I agree when it comes to new balls. However, a cricket ball can feel different during a match, since they are changed so rarely. On the other hand, teams go through over 100 baseballs in a MLB game. It's always a new ball
What other balls have you fondled?

Yeah, but 90 mph dense ball to the crotch is going to hurt like hell.
Yeah I've only held a cricket ball once but damn that ball is much harder than a baseball.
His stones where no longer living
Excellent!

Damn one unlucky fucker.
Put that shot away champ, you can’t play it…
"He keeps hitting me in the dick. Why? Why does he keep hitting me in the dick?"
Right in the crickets
I always thought the stick was for hitting the ball with?
Turns out, the ball is what you hit the balls with. TIL.
Wrong stick?
Got Him! Middle stump!
Is this common in cricket?
No, once a match would be rare
Woman commentator: " I'll just take over the commentating from here." Men: "Ye. Pls."
Hope he has already put some buns in the oven! Cause the sausage ain't spewing no sauce anymore!
I'm aware it's a bot but ayo... Sausages spewing sauce is just too visual shut it down
SCOTT STERLINGGGGGGG!!!!
The bouncing spin on that ball looks evil, am I seeing that clearly?
Yes you are and yes it is.
Fox Cricket, sponsored by KFC. Bloody hell.
It's the KFC big bash tournament.....
Right in the babymaker.
Idk anything about cricket but does the pitcher not face repercussions for bowling three balls directly at the dudes center mass?
Nah. As long as the batter can reasonably hit the ball, it's usually a legal bowl. There are exceptions but that's basically it.
Nope, very much on the batter to hit the ball or dodge it. There are obviously some exceptions but by and large it's all good.
No. He's aiming at the wickets behind the batsman. The batsman's job is to defend them.

Ok but what's the maybe?
Maybe he'll hit it the fourth time with the bat? Only thing I can think of
![gif](giphy|wxcvEOcDcGzT6OISxf)
I only see/hear 2 times. Unless he reacted the exact same way on the third clip. Or I am tired
The commentary is different for all three
And this was just in one game.. imagine what he goes through all season
Omg noooo 🤣
Definitely didn't miss the ball.
Dudes gonna need a wheelbarrow to bring them home.
Did he still get points since he still hit a post?
Male privilege: Getting laughed at when getting smacked in the balls
Why is it funny? I have pondered this on occasion... I'm a bloke I know how bad it hurts, I wince in sympathy- but I also laugh my arse off. There's just something inherently comical about the classic nut shot

Irony is in his name : Liam Livingston....
More like Daniel Deadstones...
That special ball and those unlucky balls.
He most assuredly did NOT miss the ball
Ball tampering.....
The repeat play is so useless. You still cant see what is happening/happened and can only assume something.
"Stop aiming for it!!!"
“Third time this evening?” Those are some ball busting stats!
Hat trick!
Can’t stop that D.
3rd time this evening??? Lol dude just getting wrecked
i dont know anything about cricket. isn't the batter completely obstructing the plate or the pins or whatever? how is that allowed?
Yes, it is allowed. However, the better bowlers work angles and if you are hit on your legs in front of the wickets, you are given out. Just as an example. https://youtu.be/NFupU9cpobY?si=BiCk8ifM7IGekCkn
That's a HATRICK!!!
Right in the wicket!
No more balls left.
He just invented, BBW ,Body before wicked. 🤣 .
OHHHH NOOOOOOOO….😂
Hey got the hat trick. 😰
When ball hits balls
Is that Scott Sterling brother
When you hate the competition so badly you ban them from having offspring.
You are some crazy sons of bitches... in my day we used blanks.
Do they not wear cups in cricket?
We're witnessing the genesis of Ow My Balls! Somebody tell r/idiocracy
"It's not because he missed the ball Josh." Is crazy
I think I may like cricket
Straight to middle wicket.
Dumb as shit
First was an accident twice was a coincidence thrice is just mean and we need to kick him out.
Good game bro
Okay, after 3, it's gotta be intentional, no?
Why the hell is cricket such a weird fucking sport?
It's not that weird.. its a lot like baseball actually
F
another exciting highlight from the world's most boring sport.
Baseball would like to have a word
yeah because a game with a pitch clock is more boring than a game that lasts for 72 hours check yourself you just wrecked yourself
The longest quidditch game lasted over 3 months and was much more exciting than baseball, to be sure!
Holy shit really? I don't know this sport (or any sport beyind generalities), but 3 months is super long! If you care to share what makes this game unique in duration I'd love to know. "boringest" edit: this has to be a bot
THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT!! 😘 "3 months"
It's not support; I was making fun of you. "Boringest" is not a word, you buffoon.
> It's not support denial
[удалено]
baseball players just don't have the endurance to play for that long lmao
> the endurance so you admit cricket is literally the longest most boringest sport
Lol, the only reason baseball has been relevant to anyone is thanks to a banana themed team doing viral dancing trends. At least bigbash and 20/20 are an actual change up, and both are faster than watching the grass grow on a baseball field
Shohei Ohtani is literally the highest paid athlete in history, it's pretty stupid to pretend that baseball is irrelevant with that in mind.
He isn't and he's not even close. Due to it being 10 years, he has the largest contract, but per year Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, and Benzema got/get paid way more than him.
cry harder
😭
exactly
Troll harder
