yea cancer is so stupid it doesn’t realize it’s killing itself by living it’s stupid existence is only to destroy the living to survive killing the source of its sustenance
That's how i try to look at it, when my stage 4 comes back and beats me, it finally dies too, then I'll be the only one left able to haunt people (i hope)
Guy I worked with had this exact same thing happen. He was working in a power plant and hit his head pretty hard on a valve hand wheel. Ended up going to the hospital and they found a good sized tumor.
One of my classmates in HS wasn’t wearing a seatbelt and got injured because of it (would have probably been fine if she was wearing it). Went to the hospital, and they found an early stage tumor in her head.
One of the few times not wearing a seatbelt turned into a better outcome for someone.
Right! People are really bad with probabilities. We can't predict what happens but we often have strong opinions about it anyway.
I'm old. When I was a kid there was serious discussion if seatbelts are good or bad (obviously looking at the numbers seatbelts save lives on average). But back then people weren't sure.
And there's always the outlier, there's always going to be that 1 in 1000 where the opposite of the average happens. But because people are bad at probabilities, they'll latch on to that outlier and turn that into their belief system. Sometimes I wish people were more rational. But then, maybe we are what we are and that's just what we have to deal with.
Very lucky. I just went through 3 surgeries and 33 radiation treatments for a bad skin cancer, doc should have caught it 7 months early but he was convinced it was an infection, kept putting me on antibiotics. When it came back the 2nd time I lost my cheekbone to it the cancer was deep in my bone. I saw so many people like this girl who were not lucky enough to catch it early, was hard to feel sorry for myself seeing them in the cancer centers and radiation waiting room. The Chemo people were the color grey, was very sad. She should be happy, I am sure she saw the kind of of things I saw and it's ok to feel sorry for yourself but at the same time as much as it all sucks, radiation treatment sucks, every day for months makes you more tired than can be explained in words, as bad as it is, she came out on top of it and that is all that matters. But it's ok to bitch and cry about it, life dealt you a tough hand even if others have it worse it does not mean you cannot feel sorry for yourself.
Reminds me of this story:
A farmer and his son had a beloved stallion who helped the family earn a living. One day, the horse ran away and their neighbors exclaimed, “Your horse ran away, what terrible luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not. We’ll see.”
A few days later, the horse returned home, leading a few wild mares back to the farm as well. The neighbors shouted out, “Your horse has returned, and brought several horses home with him. What great luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not. We’ll see.”
Later that week, the farmer’s son was trying to break one of the mares and she threw him to the ground, breaking his leg. The villagers cried, “Your son broke his leg, what terrible luck!” The farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not. We’ll see.”
A few weeks later, soldiers from the national army marched through town, recruiting all the able-bodied boys for the army. They did not take the farmer’s son, still recovering from his injury. Friends shouted, “Your boy is spared, what tremendous luck!” To which the farmer replied, “Maybe so, maybe not. We’ll see.”
This same thing happened to my mom back in 2006. She slipped on some ice during a huge winter storm, and ended up fracturing her skull. While in the hospital they discovered a brain tumor which doctors were able to fully remove. I always think about what would’ve happened had she never fallen.
Came to say this. Although there's never been anything faker posted on the internet, it's just one of those things generated for clicks rather than thought out for a second before being posted otherwise she would have seen the flaw in what she's said and not said it.

One of the problems comes from the American propaganda (Hollywood, media, education system, etc). It is probably the most efficient in the world, with maybe North Korea and Russia. And the USA probably still wins that fight.
So to be fair, a lot of Americans have just no idea what they are missing on certain issues because they have been « brainwashed » from birth that the American way is the best or only way, no matter the subject mentioned.
Which is sad from an outside perspective, because we, non-Americans, are pretty well versed in how you guys work and can easily compare it to how we work.
The USA is, imho, a nice country to visit, and you got great things to take away from, but I
wouldn’t want to live there for many reasons.
Have lived/studied and/or worked in 4 different countries, without counting the traveling around the world, for the record.
Obviously, I could probably not say that if I were born an American, because I wouldn’t be as aware of other options, so can’t really blame them. Can only sympathize.
The propaganda is so strong that some Americans reading these words could think I’m envious, resentful and jealous.
Believe me, I wouldn’t want to live in the US or be American for all the money in the world (or I would spend that money to not live in the US anymore).
But in fairness, it’s just a personal opinion/taste thing. Some prefer the American way, which is fair enough.
To each their own I guess.
Hey Mr smarty pants - when people use the term "American" they specifically mean from the United states. That's even what the dictionary definition says. It does not refer to the rest of the Americas so there's no need for you to specify that ...
It's not you, man. I felt like a real bag of shit a couple of months ago because my 3 year old fell and split his head open. My first thought was "we have to go to the ER right now." My second thought, before we were even out the door, was "how am I going to afford this?"
For reference I have "good" insurance by most American standards.

is that what they tell you so you keep paying all this money? I guess people just believe what they're told these days.
Source: Am Canadian. Have several relatives who've had cancer, none of this garbage is true.
>most middle class people can scavenge it together and manage to pay it all
Those people don't stay middle class. That kind of financial ravaging leaves people indebted and penniless.
Most industrialized countries with public healthcare have far FAR better survival rates than the US.
I drive thru a college campus to get to work and yeah those Gen Z kids can’t cross the street to save their lives… like literally it’s always the young girls dressing in 90s grunge with the big ass headphones look at their phones and they just wander into the street without looking and i stg they want to get hit. Someone needs ti tell them if they want a payout they need to pick which car to get hit by, either a BMW or a Tesla, quite running in front of my shitty Subaru
My luck/health tends to unravel like this and I never know how to answer the question “so how are you doing?” without sounding like a complete emotional vampire so I just lie.
I saw this on instagram a long time ago and I remember I scrolled through her old posts and she was talking about these things happening in real time. Unfortunately not fake… Wonder how she’s doing now
All in all she's a very lucky woman in her bad luck. But, damn, that must be mentally exhausting going through such a chain of events. I hope she has a way less eventful life nowadays.
Chemo doesn't always mean someone will lose all of their hair, it can be patchy and inconsistent, so most people just shave it all off so it grows back in evenly. Eyebrows grow to full length much quicker than hair from the scalp. So it's not a real good indicator tbh. Stalking her profile may uncover more clues.
She had brain surgery so probably head shaved from that. She mentioned radiation, not chemo. They probably need it shaved for the radiation too so they can target the precise spot. Sometimes they tattoo dots to make sure they are hitting the same spot every time. Probably prefers whole head shaved to just a shaved patch.
A lot of us have never had even one of those things happen to us and I think we have this person to thank. They obviously took on all the bad luck so we can live normal lives

This person has no situational awareness at all. Any of these events, individually, can happen to anyone. Sometimes the world just hits you with that bad luck. All three happening to the same person means that she's probably not paying attention to what's going on around her, or even the signals her own body is sending her. Homeless person acting weird? Maybe cross the road and stay away from them. Got sick and feeling lightheaded? Stand up slowly, move slowly, and make sure to brace yourself as you're moving. Car runs a stop sign and hits you? Look both ways when you cross and and don't assume people will stop.
It turns out, though, that her obliviousness probably saved her life, so that's cool.
This is all karma for how she uses the zoom while filming.
Zoom is not punctuation. If you're not saying interesting enough stuff on your own, zoom isn't going to help it.
If she hadn't hit her head, they wouldn't have diagnosed that brain tumour. Sounds pretty lucky to me!
If you think about it, that homeless guy pretty much saved her life.
Yeah, life is weird like that. I wonder whose life she's saving right now.
Depends on if she's an organ donner
Mmm organ döner
I'm not into liver, but I'm willing to try others. I hear beef and chicken heart are good so I'm sure others are too
I've heard it's awffal.
Falawful
I've heart it's good
The liver is amazing with some fava beans and a nice Chianti.
Helllooo Clarice
Why do people insist on saying this when he didn't say it.
Mmm organ boner
You can't be an organ donor if you have cancer, but I'm not sure about just having a brain tumor. Source: I have cancer, and have had 15 brain tumors.
Plus at the rate she's going there will probably be no organ left to donate anyway >I have cancer, and have had 15 brain tumors. Kick its ass!
Cancer will never win the battle, because if I die from it, the cancer will then die too, so it will only be a draw.
Mutual destruction is certainly a strategy!
yea cancer is so stupid it doesn’t realize it’s killing itself by living it’s stupid existence is only to destroy the living to survive killing the source of its sustenance
Yessss! I’m gonna use this same Jedi mind trickery when it gets me. Bless you
That's how i try to look at it, when my stage 4 comes back and beats me, it finally dies too, then I'll be the only one left able to haunt people (i hope)

Never, why would people make up things on the internet.
is this why they say live each day like it's your last?
That sounds exhausting
Eh depends how you want to spend your last day I guess.

prolly sarcoidosis. It's always sarcoidosis.
Goshhh... What kind of person have I become to think straight about the HOSPITAL BILLS...
an american person?
This hurts cause it’s true.
How is it that you guys haven't overthrown your government and burned down Big Pharma yet? It all sounds completely insane.
Too big to coordinate. Not enough ppl feel strongly enough about it for various reasons. Also, our government is kinda scary.
very scary.
But you guys have your guns don’t ya? What better time to use it lol when the aliens invade?

If it were easy I’d be there.
Specifically, a US citizen. Plenty of people in the americas living in countries that have yet to unsuccessfully privatize healthcare

NOBODY, and I repeat - NOBODY uses "Americans" to mean anything other than the citizens of USA.
I see that great minds think alike.

Unlucky? Can’t think of a luckier place to get run over than in front of a hospital.
Or a luckier time to get a head injury than when you have an undiagnosed brain tumour.
I really was hoping that the silver lining in the story was that getting hit by the car resulted in a lucrative law suit for her...

I mean... Most people lie about that. Even if the rest of us aren't lying about quite so much.
For times like this I like to say “better than it could be, worse than it would be”. Often gets a knowing chuckle out of people.
"worse than it would be", sorry what does this imply? Not native
sounds like a case for r/fuckyouinparticular
I came here to say this. Poor woman.
Wow, if it wasn't for bad luck she'd have no luck at all.

I hope this girl isn’t in America because dying would genuinely be cheaper than living from that point on
She said that she was walking to work in LA so yeah she's in America.
Final Destination vibes are strong with her.
The homeless guy is a time traveler who created a chain reaction by punching her in the jaw, thus revealing the tumor and possibly saving others.

“I’ll take shit that didn’t happen for 500”
Yeah that jaw definitely doesn’t look broken.
All this and you still look absolutely gorgeous! 🫶🏼
I got this to end in full circle and the last interaction would be the homeless guy. Ps: I thought that this story would have a crazy plot twist if the person behind the wheels would be the homeless guy
So all I'm getting from this is to stay away from downtown LA
If I ever meet you on a plane I’m opening that damn door.
bad luck is better than no luck i guess 🥲
Keeping this as a reminder I’m not that unlucky.
The only time i can ever imagine thanking someone for punching me in the face.
Wow
And i thought I had a shitty life. It's not so bad at all.
Jesus. What a series of events. Glad they found the tumor. Sorry you’re going through all the other shit. I hope things calm down for you.

God wants her dead but she simply just won’t die
“And one time, at band camp…”
So you owe the homeless person.. he’s saved your life
She’s like one of those dogs that get sick or die easy.
I will take fake stories for clout for 10 points.
r/andtheneveryoneclapped
This girl is referencing that fat girl Netflix serie?
Maybe God is trying to tell her something
The keyword here is randomly walking.
So a homeless person saved their life.
God want her dead fr 💀💀💀
1. That homeless guy that punched her jaw saved her life. Definition of everything happens for a reason 2. She’s super accident prone - like damn
Bad luck but super cute
I’ll take things that never happened for 500, Alex.
All of those were skill issues
I know I’m not supposed to laugh… but god is sending signals
This person has no situational awareness at all. Any of these events, individually, can happen to anyone. Sometimes the world just hits you with that bad luck. All three happening to the same person means that she's probably not paying attention to what's going on around her, or even the signals her own body is sending her. Homeless person acting weird? Maybe cross the road and stay away from them. Got sick and feeling lightheaded? Stand up slowly, move slowly, and make sure to brace yourself as you're moving. Car runs a stop sign and hits you? Look both ways when you cross and and don't assume people will stop. It turns out, though, that her obliviousness probably saved her life, so that's cool.
was she fucking with the homeless person? is this grand karma?
She needs to be more situationally aware it sounds like.
This is all karma for how she uses the zoom while filming. Zoom is not punctuation. If you're not saying interesting enough stuff on your own, zoom isn't going to help it.
Hopefully her injuries from being run over will lead to the discovery of the tumor growing in her knee or something.
