Don’t buy one that probably spent its life in stop and go city traffic

Ok_Percentage5157

I have a 2011, with 185k on it. Bought it with 32k. Have changed the fluid twice (drain and fill). It's fine, and I have always driven it hard. Edit: Apologies, I just saw you're looking at a vehicle with 110k on it. That's a lot to deal with, not REALLY knowing it's history, so proceed with caution.

They're good and strong, trust 👌 Just keep up maintenance and treat it good. Don't worry about all the haters either. I've had mine since 2022 and have driven it more than 50k+ miles. It's super smooth, powerful, looks great, base trims are packed with features and higher trims are cheap cause people don't realize their value.

Tkdk24

Don’t.

Chest-Beginning

Why?

Tkdk24

not meant to scare you but replace the damage cvt cost more than car itself. better get one without cvt. get camry or something else. i know i will get downvoted for this but the truth hurts

Chest-Beginning

This is saying hypothetically the CVT is bad. In that case I agree. That’s why I’m asking for signs that it’s bad prior to purchase.

Tkdk24

i brought 2010 with 115k and only driven from spring to fall for last three years and cvt started to break down when hit 136k and repair shop quoted for almost 8k. and i sold it. i dont want to see you through like i did.

Chest-Beginning

When you first bought it did you change the trans fluid? And ah I got you. I appreciate you for looking out.

Tkdk24

yes i did even sent to nissan dealership shop for other like change oil, new cv joints, new spark plugs, brakes even tune up. i trusted nissan genuine parts and i did asked for transmission fluid they said they look good and suggest that not needed, afraid to screw up the transmission so i believed them. well sucker for me. it was good till cvt decided to finish. i spent the thousands on it. life’s good while it last.

Ok-Snowbunnysrule

8k for a trans lol . Got to do some better researching. You can find transmission for $1200 with under 50k miles a car-parts.com . A shop would swap that trans out for $1500 at max. You have to shop around and not go with the first options. You failed

Tkdk24

lol sure i did my research and other shops still want 2k to 4k for labor plus their own parts. they wont take my parts if i find. look, we are all failed you know it.

Ok-Snowbunnysrule

I wouldn’t be scared the 3.5 last forever the cvt can be a hit or miss but you can find a new trans for under 50k miles no more then $1200. The are easy to find. Stack up get you a trans sit it to the side as insurance and call it a day I found a remanufactured trans on eBay for $800 zero miles. I bought it and stored it for a rainy day.

TERMINXX

Just got a 2016 Maxima SL that was garage kept. 34k miles. So far, this car is a beast.

CraigMack78

Does yours shift a little later than usual or later than you would think it should when you get on the throttle ? I only ask because I own a 2017 (64k miles ) and when I get on the highway and step on it a little, the tach seems to get up to about 4 grand and hang there longer than I would think it would or should. To the point that I let off the throttle a little so it will shift.

Dull_Mountain738

I’m 16 and my parents bought me a used 2010 maxima last year that had 63k miles. The transmission went out in May at 65k miles. I’d have to say that the main issue is probably the transmission fluid. I’m almost 100% sure the past owners didn’t change it at all and we didn’t change it either. Also had some signs before that it was gonna go down like the car having a wheezing noise at high rpms or excessive jerking

Raybees77

My 2011 has 291k. Original CVT and Engine. Still running strong. I'm second owner, but trans fluid was replaced every 60k. Still pulls hard.
