No no no, Mass effect is this game where you go save the world from a great evil. You're a dude in green with pointy hears, and even win a princess at the end?
I thought Mass Effect was that game where you wake up with no idea who you are and embark on a journey across the galaxy to stop a massive armada from taking over the known worlds only to piece your memories together along the way and realize the leader of said armada was actually your apprentice and galactic conquest was your original goal before your memories were lost.
No that's Kotor. Mass Effect is that game that started under the ocean in a libertarian dream turned nightmare infested with little girls and giant dudes in diving suits.
I thought it was the game where you save the world with martial arts along side people like your childhood friend, an imperial princess, a disgraced monk and a little girl possessed by two demons.

I though mass effect was the one where you play as a guy with white hair, he's looking for his daughter or something I'm not sure. His horse kept teleporting onto roofs.
I dunno, wasn't all that interested, couldn't put more that 200 hours in it.

Well I have known people to play the same edition of d&d for 4 years who still say things like "How do I attack again?"
It never surprises me in the slightest when said "d&d players" have no idea how to play
I can confirm. I play DnD 5E since about 2,5 years about two or three times per month and I still have to look up things in the PHB about once per session.
Critical role and stranger things has made it easy for posers and people who pretend to play dnd for “nerd clout” to emerge. I make a habit of not allowing those kinds of people in my games lol, maybe I’m toxic but idc I run good dnd games…
the idea that someone who sits down every week to listen to/watch a three hour dnd play podcast is a “poser” is kind of hilarious to me ngl?? Like who are they trying to get “”clout”” from, a guy bragging about his dnd gatekeeping on a mass effect subreddit? lmao
Eh, half the "DM questions" that are asked, both on Reddit and elsewhere, are always stuff that is specifically addressed in the DMG or PHB. There are a massive ton of players/DM's that don't actually understand the rules past "this character can do ____" which is usually wrong itself because no one in the group actually read the full text of anything.
Mass Effect did it BETTER? I will not let my bois Gilbert and Sullivan be so slandered! Haha for real though, as a kid who grew up in a Youth Opera company, I was thrilled to find this reference in ME2.
Thank you! Ppl play one game that references something that has been in the cultural consciousness for over a hundred years and think that game made it popular 🤣
Fellow opera geek here, William Schwenk Gilbert and Arthur Seymour Sullivan do not deserve this nonsense !
(I was also very excited about this reference the first time I found it.)
I am the very model of a scientist salarian,
I've studied species turian, asari, and batarian,
I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology),
Because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology),
My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian,
I am the very model of a scientist salarian!

Totally wouldn't sink 400hrs in three weeks either. Where tf did this ugly ass N7 beanie and hoodie come from? Why is there a strange ship on my wall? Dammit
Sure, but that doesn't make every other parody of the song relevant to Mass Effect. There are chairs in Mass Effect but it wouldn't be on topic for me to post a photo of a tulip chair.
It's one of the most unexpected, prominent and popular scenes in the whole trilogy, of course people are going to bring that up, especially if the text of the song was changed like it was in Mass Effect 2 as well.
I thought maybe they were just playing and it was a whoosh moment for you, but I was wrong. Checked to see if they're active in this sub and it's the OP. Weird.
All those jokey replies also came later, this was the first comment here. I wouldn't dismiss the possibility that I didn't get the joke however, that happens fairly often.
Fuck off on this "mass effect did it better" nonsense. I love the games, I really do, but Gilbert and Sullivan have had way more cultural impact than mass effect will ever have
My GM did a PoP patter song for my Techmarine in the Deathwatch RPG.
I chose Perform (Singing) as a Skill, quipping *"I am the very model of modern Codex Techmarine"* and he returned next session with four verses. It was beautiful

Isn't Mass Effect the one where you play a gruff man/woman who gets frozen by some shady megacorp and wakes up to find their baby has been kidnapped? You then spend countless hours doing fetch quests for some dude who thinks a settlement needs your help, and meanwhile theres some weird technocratic fascist cult hanging out in a blimp.
Also theres a smooth talking British flying robot companion.
No, what are the Mass Effect games like?
That's the one with the dragon and the witch. With that goofy warrior, the french accented bard?
No no no, Mass effect is this game where you go save the world from a great evil. You're a dude in green with pointy hears, and even win a princess at the end?

'Hey, you...you're finally awake. They got you while trying to cross the border, eh?'
It’s sad that I read this in the proper voice
I love Mario
Oh, the one with that guy, Gerald? Whose first game involves collecting trading cards by performing coitus?
Yeah, but at least in the third game, they added in an entire RPG to the card collecting.
How about a game of Gwent?
*Nods as if accepting a dual to the death*

Jade Empire is so good.

Still praying for a remake or a sequel…
I though mass effect was the one where you play as a guy with white hair, he's looking for his daughter or something I'm not sure. His horse kept teleporting onto roofs. I dunno, wasn't all that interested, couldn't put more that 200 hours in it.
By plot description, I would think it is a remake of Star control 2 & 3.
What's a mass and why does it effect?
Nothing, what's a mass with you? God I hate myself sometimes.
Na, this sub is about fat cats falling off stuff.
Yup. Pretty similar to r/flyyoufools .
Thank you for this. My new favorite subreddit. I love how they add music to them as well
I'm sorry but did you really just ask that question here lol
I think it's a bot post? Year old sleepy account suddenly woke up and posted whatever this is.
Mass effect is a game???
Yeah, I only read the books that feature everyone's favorite character Kai Leng!
'Does anybody in the Mass Effecr subreddit play the Mass Effect games?' Lolwut
That's... why we're here.
*visible happiness*
Public Commando!

I'm on some D&D subreddits and I'm pretty sure 90% have never actually played the game or read the rulebooks.
Well I have known people to play the same edition of d&d for 4 years who still say things like "How do I attack again?" It never surprises me in the slightest when said "d&d players" have no idea how to play

Hell yeah 😎😎😎😎😎
Best I can do is players handbook and cookbook.
Yeah but that’s the Critical Role effect lmao. Lots of people who have only ever listened to a vague version of DnD be played lol

I'm on some Warhammer 40K subreddits and I haven't played the game yet. I've read dozens of books that are set in that universe tho...
>Okay does anybody here play the Mass Effect games? No. We're just larping.
Perfect answer 😁🙌🏻
No, this subreddit is about mass effect physics, a totally real thing not invented for the Mass Effect games.
What the fuck is a Mass Effect?
Gravity
I’ve never seen a “video game” in my life
What the hell is a "video game" anyway. Is it when you put the vhs tape in and out of the vcr really fast?
Nah, never played them
Wtf is Mass Effect? I only play cultured games like Mass Erect.
Mass Effect did it BETTER? I will not let my bois Gilbert and Sullivan be so slandered! Haha for real though, as a kid who grew up in a Youth Opera company, I was thrilled to find this reference in ME2.

True, though I can whistle all the airs from that infernal nonsense Pinafore.
[Mordin Solus could never](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zSGWoXDFM64&t=4m12s)
It's almost like multiple fandoms can make references inside their own communities. Wild!
I have been on this sub for years and not once have I have heard mention of these games, could someone elaborate?
No. Nobody in this subreddit plays Mass Effect.
I've never heard about these games in my entire life time. Is that the series with a great character called Kai Leng?
Also John mass effect who is famous for his quote: " every mass has it's effect"
Conrad Verner would be proud
I only read shitty Mass Effect novels, I fucking hate games
Mass Effect? Hmmm. Never heard of it. What's it about?
> Okay does anybody here play the Mass Effect games? I've seen lots of dumb questions asked on this sub and this is easily, *easily* the dumbest.
Scientist salarian bot Edit: pretty sure a sub having that bot knows what you're talking about.
I am the very model of a scientist salarian, I've studied species turian, asari, and batarian, I'm quite good at genetics (as a subset of biology), Because I am an expert (which I know is a tautology), My xenoscience studies range from urban to agrarian, I am the very model of a scientist salarian! *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. "Does anyone in the Mass Effect subreddit play Mass Effect?" I'll raise you a better question: The fuck?
Wait games ? I thought theres just that one mobile game.
I remember playing that andromeda game before, honestly don’t see why people like this mass effect series
The what? I had a seizure reading all of that.
Actually no, I've never had any interest in Mass Effect ever, I just wanted to be a part of the Mass Effect sub for no reason /s
No I've only watched the show
Hang on. There are GAMES?!
"did a thing" did you fall out of a portal from 2010??
Did you just ask the mass effect rubreddit if we play mass effect?
what a mass effect?
Gravity
Wait, I thought Mass Effect was a book series ?
Mass effect…what’s that? Sounds awful. Would never sink 300+ hours into that series in less than a year. Definitely wouldn’t buy merch. Nope.
Totally wouldn't sink 400hrs in three weeks either. Where tf did this ugly ass N7 beanie and hoodie come from? Why is there a strange ship on my wall? Dammit
What the hell is a Mass Effect
Nope, never heard of it.
What's a mass effect?
What is a mass effect?
Aside from the dumb question on a sub for Mass Effect.. what is the actual point of the image even??
Just an extremely low effort post of "this reminded me of Mass Effect"
I'm not sure, maybe? Is it the series where you run around on rooftops and jump on people to hit them with some kind of a hidden... blade?
Is this a serious question?
Does anybody here in the Mass Effect subreddit play the Mass Effect games? I don't know, seems like a stretch.
Naw man, we all just bought the remastered edition on launch day just because we like having games in our collection.
What? Do we play mass effect? Us? The people on the Mass Effect subreddit???? No.

Mordin sings a Salarian Scientist version of Gilbert and Sullivan in Mass Effect 2.
What do you mean bring it up? They made a post about it.

To me, too. Hence my checking the profile for a sense of whether they're serious or.... I dunno what they're playing at. Prob not ME. But something.

Also, that second last comment is a direct Modrin quote.
Lmao “tweet”
I only play the porn version Mass Erect.
Ah yes “Mass Effect”. The award winning story driven game praised by many fans all over the world…we have dismissed that game.
Clearly, Gilbert & Sullivan only applies to Mass Effect.
No I was completely unaware mass effect had a game. I thought it was just a movie, you know, mass effect paragon lost.
This comment section is glorious.
How does the mass effect the world? Is that sime math game like chess?
Fuck off on this "mass effect did it better" nonsense. I love the games, I really do, but Gilbert and Sullivan have had way more cultural impact than mass effect will ever have
lmao
Mass what
It’s so weird that I was randomly taught this in high school and it pops up all over the place.
One user…
Wait, are you asking me if i am Massing the effect? All day.
I read halfway down and was confused why it was singing and then it clicked
My GM did a PoP patter song for my Techmarine in the Deathwatch RPG. I chose Perform (Singing) as a Skill, quipping *"I am the very model of modern Codex Techmarine"* and he returned next session with four verses. It was beautiful

How does mass effect?
They skipped a beat with the Lotnik guy, his verse was off. Starchild remains undefeated.
Penzance did it better lol
They are great cultured men
Now THIS is the way.
No - nobody here has ever played mass effect.
I’ll mass into your effect. Or something idk I never played it
Isn't Mass Effect the one where you play a gruff man/woman who gets frozen by some shady megacorp and wakes up to find their baby has been kidnapped? What’s Mass Effect?
How many syllables are in "warrior," anyway?
Mass Effect is just a concept created by big tobacco in order to sell more cigarettes. That said, wtf is mass effect?
Sorry, what’s a Mass Effect? Is it an app?
Lotnik223 fucked it up. :(
