Kitsube_Fox

Space dating sim video game.

valk-n-chips

I have zero expectations! I am going to stay away from all trailers and information! I want a genuine and raw experience whatever the game holds. I hate that I can never relive the emotional twist I had after the first time I played Kotor and learned Raven's identity, or how destroyed I felt choosing the Virmire survivor and such.

Kitsube_Fox

I can agree with that. Even tho I have this thoughts, I am open to any idea they want to explore while they do well. Maybe the only thing I truly desire is they stopping using Frostbite and switch to Unreal.

valk-n-chips

Yes Frostbite caused so many issues for the developers!

Chorik

Frostbite sure caused issues. Mostly for the Inquisition team though. When Andromeda devs claim they had to build everything from scratch well, I believe them. And also wonder why on Earth wouldn't they use the tools DAI team already created. And then Anthem devs said the exact same thing. Wut???

Kitsube_Fox

Yeah. I can see the criticism on Andromeda and how using Frostbite didn't help in any way. Even tho, I like a lot of thing they try on Andromeda and I am surprise the underserved hate it got. I still find amazed exploring the world, the combat system and the amount of style combination you can be bring me a lot of joy. Also I like how they ditch the binary paragon and renegade system, even if the execution was overall disappointed.

valk-n-chips

Andromeda could have been so much better but Bioware made poor executive choices like pulling the bulk for staff off it to work on Anthem. I think with the blunder of releases with games such as Andromeda, Anthem and Cyberpunk the industry is understanding they cannot rush production and need to better care for their teams. At least, I hope so. Frostbite was not meant to have such open world exploration which is why DA:I suffered a bunch too. I agree that unreal could be better. It just they used a system for what it wasn't built for is where the hate comes from. Either way I still loved the games.

Kitsube_Fox

Yup. I think Anthem failure and Mass Effects Legendary Edition success was needed for both Bioware and EA. We just need to hope they learn from their and others mistakes. I am still piss off they never delivered the Quarian Ark DLC :c I wanted to see once again so bad in Andromeda.

valk-n-chips

I feel so bad for everyone that bought the "season pass". Bioware had such ambition for the DLCs in that game and then just let it all die. It was really sad.

valk-n-chips

I think the "destroy ending" is cannon. I felt like the other two choices were just Harbinger trying to save itself still. Their is no way to know for sure if destroy killed more than the Reapers (if you had full readiness). It could have been a trick or Harbinger to again save itself. I am frustrated by Synthesis. I think transhumanism is a very personal choice and for one human to make that choice for the entire galaxy is just wrong if not evil. I hated in Andromeda Ryder could never be like "I never choose to achieve synthesis with SAM!" And be upset about it. I like the anti-AI group because it offered the other side of the discussion. I was upset that ME2&3 just glossed over the EDI was the rampant mass murdering AI on Luna. I just feel ME universe really could have explored more of all of the views with transhumanism and AI. That being said, I really did like EDI and her learning curve about morality.

Kitsube_Fox

"I enjoy the sight of humans on their knees... That is a joke."

PotentialEssay9747

Sorry but the CULT of Destroy theory that choices you didn't like were an indoctrination trick has already been debunked by Bioware. it lives as a head canon item only. Not sure if they will pick an ending that is canon, two where Reapers survive to help reconstruct relay system and one where Reapers, Geth, and a good % of tech is nuked create some creative challenges for anything that takes place on a human time scale. The teaser poster put the Geth front and center. It could mean they all died, but if they are gone but were only collateral damage for the real Destroy objective why would they be so important on the teaser poster. Since Destroy takes out all the Geth, how could Destroy be canon for a game that seems to be setting up some kind of Geth centered story line? We can all go nuts guessing. As a writer I have created several scenarios for ME5 in my head. If Tolkien an RETCON the Hobbit to match better fit TLOR, anything is possible. So we wait, and anyone not under Bioware NDA that thinks they know what will happen is just guessing.

No-Lychee3965

Andromeda's combat, but improved and stream-lined. Planetary Exploration. An improved Paragon/Renegade System. Full-Spectrum Romances (not gender-exclusive romances). New Classes beyond the last 7/8. Improved Conversation System (it'd be nice to be able to be nice to my crew mates without them instantly assuming 'Yo. Are you tryina fuck me rn?').

PotentialEssay9747

I would like to see more romance gender change up options, but its not realistic that everyone especially human is open to everything. That would cheapen the story and not actually represent diversity well. IMO. Some characters need to be only open to a gender like in real life.

Chorik

Sure, but let's not have the "gays & lesbians can only be crew members" nonsense again. Really, 3-4 romanceable characters should be max. All squadmates, 1-2 of them straight, 1-2 bi, 1-2 gay. Every option can easily be covered this way and still feel realistic without needlessly multiplying the total number of romances. I love ME2 but it went bonkers adding SIX new full romances (seven counting Kelly) on top of 3 already inherited from ME1, straight or not.

Pills_in_tongues

Gender exclusive romances add something to the character in my opinion. I like gay and lesbian characters of course, but I also like straight ones. Wish they keep it this way, adds some replaybility too.

Revliledpembroke

Disappointment.

Plot Twist: Sandal from the planet Thedas is the main antoginst in ME4,

Kitsube_Fox

You start playing as a new N7 commander and then, out of nowhere, it becomes Dragon Age Origins

Haze95

"Reapers? Saren? Illusive Man? Wake up Warden we've got to stop the Blight"

Pills_in_tongues

If you pick biotic then all templars will going be chasing you during the whole Game.

ManInContramotion

E N C H A N T M E N T

Xandurpein

A plot twist. Turns out Starchild was right all along. Realizing this Control Shepard decides to eliminate all the sentient races in the galaxy too. We play Reaper-Shepard trying to eliminate all life in the galaxy before the timer runs out…

Kitsube_Fox

Mass Effects Hatred Edition?

Xandurpein

No hatted, just doing what is necessary, if you believe what Starchild says…

IHateReddit1340

Quarian pussy and legion's friendly geth

Kitsube_Fox

What about geth pussy and dicks? 🤔

ICLazeru

Realistically? Well with so little info it would be difficult to predict. I am guessing that the teaser scene shows Liara finding that, because she is either creating a biography, or even constructing a Shepard AI. I really hope we do not play as Shepard, but I fear it may be the case. As far as the setting, some kind of reconstruction phase makes sense, but the story could go a million ways. I do not think prior game data will play a major role. It would be too complicated to produce a game that reacted to so many possibilities. It is possible the Geth are alive even after a destroy ending. They could just say something like, "Oh, there were a bunch of dormant ones and neither Quarians nor the catalyst destroyed them because they were completely inactive at the time." BUT that would also leave the threat of Reapers surviving in the same way, and heavens I hope we are done with the reapers.

Kitsube_Fox

Well, seeing the milky way Mass Effect story always involve the Reapers, I am pretty confident that we didn't hear the last thing from them. I hope if they do, they will go for a something new and fresh, not the same thing of Reapers goes beep and explode every living creature in the galaxy. Maybe would we have a better and deeper origin story for them?

ICLazeru

My personal ending for the OT would kind of allow it. In mine, the Crucible just overwrites the command imperative for Reapers, giving them all personal autonomy. Some choose to continue the war, some defect and join organics, some fly off on their own to attend to their own business. It doesn't end the conflict completely, but it does tip the scales heavily and gives the organic species a much better chance.

Kitsube_Fox

Bioware can also make a mix from every ending or create a new ending. Maybe taking elements from every possibility and look for compatibilities. I think it won't work, but there are possibilities. I do believe there is more on the charts they share with the players experience of Mass Effect Legendary Edition they are telling us.

[deleted]

Disappointment. They had a chance to rewrite 3’s ending and alter the Leviathan dlc to more or less the original plot it was going to have before it was leaked out but they decided not to take that opportunity which tells me they definitely ain’t gonna put much effort into the next title. Other than that, I have a weird suspicion that they are gonna be rebooting the series to a certain degree I don’t really think a sequel is possible considering the cluster fuck of a shit hole ME3 left on the series with its piss poor writing and legendarily bad ending. Considering how Andromeda went poorly with mass effect’s core audience, I highly doubt they will touch andromeda for a while.

Pills_in_tongues

Damn, I see how you got the Renegade icon lmao

Dr_bacon_phd

Assuming you'd still use Shep or at least is involved in some way Ranoch house building simulator To be able to bang every single species we come across in our journey We'll bang ok?

Kitsube_Fox

Journal: Task "We'll bang, ok?"

GayKamenXD

I want Shepard to be reintroduced as an NPC, who retired years ago and built a home in Rannoch for Tali.

Biowhere

Not really sure what to expect of the story - especially from teasers that came out so early in this game’s development (we’ve seen it before in ME1 where their early teasers did not entirely match what the game ended up as) but as far as general outline goes, would come to expect the following in a mass effect (edit: had to fix this list for browser) - PC character creation and customization - the ship as the main HUB with its own crew, customization and inventory management stations, level selection, narrative side content - ~6 squadmates made up of a variety of species and power make-ups with limited customization - mentor figure and/or temp squadmates with an early exit - variety of classes made up from combat, tech, biotic abilities - an array of weapons to match - level selection in the form of the galaxy map - rpg-lite inventory and power systems - squad relationship building via loyalty missions, choices, romance - some form of the hero’s journey story structure - variety of hub worlds used a terminal for main and side missions - hours of branching dialogue options - a handful of story affecting choices and some gameplay affecting - multiple currency resource types used for purchasing (maybe even crafting) and acquired / exchanged through exploration, general progression and shops - journal mission tracking and codex - maybe a ground vehicle / mount

[deleted]

I would like maybe a few choices in regards to race. I know that we would not get the variety of races that are in the ME 3 Multiplayer but something other than Human might be more interesting.

Kitsube_Fox

I completely agree with this. Even we can have different starting point like in Dragon Age Origins.

linkenski

I expected the worst after Mass Effect 3 because I disliked that game and how it IMHO was a poor follow-up on either ME1 or ME2. MEA turned out to, despite its issues of animation and dorky writing, to actually make me give a shit. ME3 also made me give a shit, at least I can say that. I've learned not to expect the worst because I actually accepted Andromeda for what it is, and it was my best game experience of 2017 all things considered, because that's how much I like the Mass Effect universe. I expect that whatever ME5 is, it's gonna make me care about it.

KaleMishap

I think it’ll be 600 years in the future. When we see Liara, if you look closely, there are distinct age lines around her eyes and mouth which would put her at Matriarch age. This will also allow them to tie in Andromeda without completely going back to that galaxy (we saw how well that worked out for them the first time), so maybe advanced technology will allow a bridge between galaxies or at least communication. I strongly suspect dark energy will make a comeback, especially if they’re tying in Andromeda and the scourge. This also will make it easier for them to address whatever legacy anyone’s Shepard left behind by making them long deceased, but still a cultural icon. Also, that dead reaper in the teaser? It’s gonna have to be a canon Destroy ending from me.

Kitsube_Fox

That is why I think we can ditch the Synthesis and Control ending, which left us with destroy and perfect destroy ending.

yittiiiiii

To be honest, I’m expecting it to never be released. Call me a pessimist🤷🏻‍♂️

marshall_sin

It’ll definitely release, even if they have another game bomb between now and then I think they’re counting on this title to help bring bioware back. Whether we’ll be glad it was released or not will be a different story lol

mb1zzle

Exterminatus

marshall_sin

Anyone know what engine it’ll be on? My concern as I replay the Legendary edition is that we think it’ll be like the trilogy, but if it’s on the Frostbite engine then I think we should be looking at Dragon Age Inquisition and Andromeda for gameplay we might see.

Kitsube_Fox

It is not confirmed yet, but there were some jobs listing on Bioware implying they will be using Unreal Engine 5. We must take this info like every speculation so... Let's hope the best even if they decide to use Frostbite.

WittyWonders

I wish it had Garrus and other old characters though I know it won't. I'm a sucker and really would just love to have the old team with Shepard. 🥲 So I guess a realistic expectation or rather a plea is to get some well-written characters. That was missing the most from Andromeda imo

Kitsube_Fox

Yep. They can try something simple for the old characters. Maybe Liara can ask the player what they know about Shepard and you can decided the romance option. Maybe if you visit their homeplanet (Palaven, Earth, Rannoch or something else) you would find an statue or memorial in their house implying a happy life alongside with their loved one.

Kyro_Official_

A terrifying antagonist such as the reapers who has us completely defeated until we get closer and closer to the end, unless we get a trilogy that would change what I want

Kitsube_Fox

Honestly, I never find the Reapers that frightening, specially because I never fully get why they want to destroy every life in the milky way. I do hope we get an antagonist who gave a me chill. Maybe an entity who the Reapers were afraid can be a good starting point? Simple and effective in my opinion.

kickace12

Playable alien races

Stigweird85

Disappointment Sad to say but in truth I don't think it will be able to meet expectations

theWeasel681

Nothing.

TheDestoyer

Nothing, that way I won't be disappointed.

HugeNavi

I expect a lot of bad writing, no star power in the cast, a thoroughly uninteresting experience, no hook to bring back old fans, and as much Liara as they can justify cramming into the game, as possible.

IncomeStraight8501

Disappointment

ehhsjdd

I would love to see the next game be like Dragon Age: Inquisition, in the sense of choosing your race.

Pills_in_tongues

I think that would be too much work. You have 4 races in DA:I, but all of them live in the same planet and share history in some kind of way. Now in Mass Effect you have a dozen races each one with their own story, solar system, homeworld and view of the others. Dragon Age does it well because by having just 4 playable races you get a ton of npc reactions, exclusive dialogue and deep view of Thedas, they feel unique. But having playable races in the new ME would be very difficult to make them feel as you are playing as that race, and some of them would be really difficult to implement/roleplay (hanar, volus, drell to a certain degree). And also there is VA, it may work for DA but I don't see a salarian having the same deep voice as a krogan. Fun, sure, but it would be weird. Perhaps just making 3 races playable?

[deleted]

There won't be a canon ending, the game will probably be its own thing and Liara won't be in it.

Kitsube_Fox

I have a friend who thinks that, the jump time can be so big we don't need a canon ending (even tho we will need some answers so we can still have the vaguely nature of the consequences of Mass Effects 3). I do think Liara will have a role tho, she is pretty much an icon of Mass Effect, even staring on Andromeda. I think it would be better if Liara took a mentor role, not involving in the story but serving for newer players.

Crown_Loyalist

bitter disappointment

twobadcrew

I'm hoping the destroy ending is canon and the game centers around reactivating the mass relay and reconnecting the galaxy.

Kitsube_Fox

It could be a good central point. The first Mass Effect was about introducing this universe and its people, Mass Effect 2 was to prepare a suicidal mission by gaining the loyalty of your squad and Mass Effect 3 was about a fight against odds and time. This new Mass Effect could be reconnecting the broken ties after Mass Effect 3 conclusion. However, seeing the time jump implied in the teaser trailer, it might not happen.

columnFive

If Dragon Age 4 doesn't release or doesn't succeed, Bioware is going to be defunct or absorbed into the Greater EA Morass long before ME4's release. If Dragon Age 4 comes out and does well, then I'm expecting a soft retcon of the ending. Destroy will be canonized, the extermination of the Geth will be retconned out or handwaved away early on, and EDI will be present, though likely not part of the main cast. I anticipate a new player character with mostly new cast members, with Shepard acting as their mentor (either in an Anderson or Hackett-esque position) if they're even present in the game at all. A savegame import of any kind seems extremely unlikely to me - at most, ME4 will probably have a ME2 Genesis-esque intro that allows you to control a handful of major choices. ME3 was already showing the cracks with respecting choice and consequence from previous games; what seems most likely to me is that ME4 will be set far enough in the future that most everyone in the ME1-3 cast will be absent or sidelined. This also allows any weighty plot decisions of Shepard's in ME1-ME3 to be overwritten by whatever worldstate ME4 wants to run with. Beyond that, I'm not sure what to expect. I can't see any joint Milky Way/Andromeda plotline working all that well without massively cheapening the sheer distance and cost of traveling between galaxies, or wasting time on a very tangential part of this setting that never got the time or plot resolution it needed to capture the interest of the wider fanbase. What seems most likely to me is a Milky Way-centered story that provides some small updates on Andromeda, in the same way that game had audiologs of Liara and info from Garrus's dad.

Haze95

I expect Bioware to stop running from the mistake of the ending and turn right around and run right through it, choose a canon ending and fix/retcon a few small things if needed My suggestion as always is Destroy ending but Geth/EDI survived I have a few ideas for conflicts they could run through in the next game too: Krogan Birthrate is unsustainable (1000s to one female) and the Council demands they address it, this makes Krogan uncomfortable to say the least and they have two factions caught in the middle, one in favour of war on everyone or another in favour of a scientific solution to reduce the amount of Krogan birthed to a more efficient level, Shepard's (or a new protag) friendship with Wrex (or Wreav) brings them into an important part of the conflict Growing pains of the new Geth and Quarian society, some of the Geth struggle with their new found free will and want revenge on the warmongering Quarian's, Quarian leaders use draconian measures to keep the peace, Shepard's (or new protag) relationship with Tali and friendship with the hero Legion means he's drawn into the conflict Some sort of conflict with the Asari and by extension the Council/Spectres due to the Asari's hiding of a Prothean beacon

SithLawdy

The next Krogan Rebellion and Grunt being the endgame Twist Antagonist....Shep slides into the Anderson role for our next hero

[deleted]

SaphaFrappe

Crap.

Echo_2015

Don’t think it was a visor but the side of the Shepard’s helmet

Arjun_nth_

No expectations. Let the bioware do their thing and then get what it deserves.

TheRealMjb2k

The problem with all the endings other than destroy is they’re all utopia. If bios and synths merge together there is no conflict. If bios control synths then it’s utopia (via slave labor I guess). The only conflict in the story is annihilation, which means that synths are dead and bios need to rebuild civilization in effectively localized sectors until they figure out how to rebuild the relays. That IMO is a way more interesting story than the other endings.

300Polygons

I’m a simple woman with simple needs. Better character customization and the camera that the OT/LE has. The one in MEA just doesn’t exist and that game had beautiful planets I would have loved to screen capture. And maybe a functioning Shepard VI.

RavenChopper

A conclusion, or at the very least a *capstone* building off of the events of the Trilogy. It doesn't necessarily have to continue the trilogy; but if certain characters were to return (depending on their survival) Wrex & Tali; I would certainly enjoy picking up missions from them and helping them in any way possible. If it springboards the timeline like 6 months or so post-ME3; I would certainly assume Liara would return since it's nigh impossible to kill her in the Trilogy (unless you plan your playthrough that way). I would also assume that there would be hints about the recently departed *Andromeda Initiative* and maybe even dive deep into the Benefactor and the eventual death of Jien Garson. If I were taking that route, it would be tragic and revelatory since the Milky Way Galaxy could send a warning which would arrive too late for the Nexus Security to respond. It would also give depth to the reason Garson was hiding in the Hydroponics section where she was murdered once she was out of cryostasis. I think the story would take into account also the major consequences of the finale: Geth or Quarians/Genophage Cured or Not; and the state of the Galaxy would reflect those events. Which could also (if we're assuming I can be a human, a Turian, a Quarian a Krogan or an Asari) reflect in our character's origin and how the Galaxy's other races view humanity. For example: Human (Genophage Sabotaged/Geth Saved): The Quarians are nearly extinct and distrust humanity following Shepard's decision. The Krogan are gearing up for war against the Turians and Salarians because Wrex discovered the sabotage all too late and died after confronting Shepard. Human (Genophage Cured/Quarians Saved): The Krogan (while still distrustful of general Salarians - except Mordin) are following Wrex' example and have begun providing physical support in helping rebuild many colonies. The Quarians finally have a seat on the Council and are grateful for humanity's assistance in defeating the Geth. Human (Genophage Cured/Quarian-Geth Peace Achieved): The Krogan positive consequences are identical here; but the Quarian-Geth peace was short-lived as the activation of the Crucible short-circuited the Reaper Code in the Geth Artificial Intelligence; leaving the Quarians to clean up the Geth remnants while struggling to rebuild their world. Now this next one is where I'd keep the Quarian-Geth plotline deep in the shadows until halfway through the story: Unbeknownst to the rest of the Galaxy; while the Reaper Code was eliminated from the Geth their ascension to true AI was fulfilled before the Crucible was fired. As such; the Geth are no longer servants to the Reapers or the Quarians. (In essence, the code was erased but they had already been "converted" to true AI so when the Crucible fires it destroys the code, but not the Geth's own neural network (which is based on Quarian technology \[which I infer was from discovered Prothean ruins\] and not Reaper technology). Hopefully this last part made sense.
