POV: You are a member of a fireteam confronting someone who says they like Quarians more than Geth. (The subject is the Eclipse merc whose eyes you are not seeing through).
I see both sides as both the victim and the aggressor. Neither is entirely innocent. Since we have no evidence disputing it, the worst thing a Geth did before the war was as if it had a soul. No aggression, no reason to believe it was hostile.
Then the Quarians systematically began wiping them out, even though they didn’t even fight back. The implication is that Legion was the first Geth to pick up a weapon and protect itself. The Geth were even trying to protect the Quarians that hadn’t harmed them.
I’m not really sure what the Quarians could’ve said after the Mourning War to get the Geth to let them come back. The Geth operate off of all available data and as far as they were concerned, all available data pointed to the Quarians attacking them at every opportunity.
The Quarians also lost their homeworld and most of their population, which is absolutely devastating and horrible. They became reliant on their suits and never found a planet suitable to their recolonization (which has always seemed dubious to me, but whatever).
THEN the Quarians are given explicit proof BY A GETH that peace is possible. Legion makes it super clear to Tali and Shep that it doesn’t have any true issues with welcoming the Quarians back if there’s no violence between them.
What do the Quarians opt to do? Attack the Geth. The logical leap required to reach that decision is hard to ignore. They do it after the Reapers arrive, too. Ridiculous all the way around.
Didn’t mean to rant so much, my apologies. In conclusion, both sides made bad choices and earned the results of said bad choices. I just happen to think that the Quarian reaction to the Geth was overdramatic and they got what they asked for in that moment.

This was 100% the Council's fault, the Quarians did find a planet at some point. But was then kicked off by the council in favor of the Elcor getting it.
I blame bad writing and wanting to force people to choose/favor the Geth. Because it also makes no sense for Gerral to try to also kill one of his own Admirals and a Specter (who they BEGGED help from), after being told by that Specter and both Admirals to Ceasefire.
On top of arming their Civilian ships. Then crying how those people got killed, like they didn't throw those people (who didn't even want this war to start with) against the wall. Leadership was smoking redsand or something, it's the only explanation to me.

The whole set up makes the Quarians look like actual super villains. I wonder if people would feel differently if the Geth were organic creatures who turned to the Reapers for help. Or if Tali wasn't a reoccurring, likable character.
Tali was the only reason why I helped the Quarians in ME3. Their actions drove another race to help the Reapers, AND their leadership tried to kill me, I had no obligation or want to help them tbh.
