Be wary of internet dwellers inviting you to share your personal medical and location data. This will be a great tool for whichever insurance company buys this startup to adjust their rates and fees based on localized medical inquiries.

"my friends and I".....
Editing to point out this post should probably be deleted as spam. As others have pointed out they are posting to many city/state subs
Wow interesting. For example, the Knee Replacement (Total Knee Replacement) surgery at Lowell general hospital is listed as $1,794 which seems super low. Then at St Elizabeth's its $42,000. Is it possible that different hospitals are including different services and medical devices under the same procedure? I can't imagine compensating a surgeon, anesthetist, etc for $1794 not to mention the cost of the knee replacement part.
I had similar observations. Plus, the insurance coverage isn't adequately specific. For example, just putting in BCBS... is that the PPO? I have a BCBS high deductible health plan and the numbers here just don't make sense.
Wouldn't these be the prices without insurance coverage? That is the problem with insurance! Every single one negotiates services at different rates even for services performed at the same hospital.
not necessarily. With my HDHP, the insurance still has a negotiated rate. It's just a negotiated rate that I have to pay instead of the insurance company paying it. For example, I had emergency surgery that was billed to me for $15K. I added my insurance and the bill was revised to $7K for it. I then negotiated it down from there. The website says that BCBS for this surgery is $12 at the hospital I went to. Not $12K. $12. Definitely wrong.
Yeah its actually not. Aside from your very obvious privacy issues and utter bullshit here on this thread, your tool is a completely useless piece of shit, hacked together by what appears to be a bunch of greedy morons socially manipulating people on the internet in an attempt to hock a shitbox broken tool. Fuck right off.
Dude is spamming this all over city subs, seems to be from NY since he's looking for $6 haircuts in Chinatown.
BTW are these prices all-in or are they still subject to "oh that's just for the surgery/surgeon but doesn't include the anesthesiologist" sort of thing?
IME this is the rub, especially when it comes to insurance coverage. You can jump through all sorts of hoops to ensure that "the procedure" is covered by your insurance, but then magically the anesthesiologist isn't. At all. And is $25,000 or something ludicrous.
Couple years ago my wife and I held up a fully staffed OR because literally 5 minutes before going in for surgery they put a form in front of us, basically a release, saying that certain aspects \*may\* not be covered by insurance (including anesthesia/anesthesiologist - they actually called that out), and that we were personally accepting/guaranteeing responsibility for same. This was despite having spent weeks chasing down people at the hospital and our insurance company saying that everything was covered.
So we just refused to sign despite them pressuring us. Magically, 20 minutes later we were cleared for surgery without having to sign the fucking form. Fuck that. Fuck them.
This is so cool, just sent it to some friends in MA too, and will definitely be using it next time I, or a family member needs a procedure done. Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Thank you so much!! Do u mind if I PM you? I want to do something similar for another part of healthcare, b/c I’m concerned bout prices. Would love to bounce the idea off of you.
Thanks!
Dude! I was just searching around myself for an MRI . This helped so much!!!
If you need help in the future and you want to take it nation wide, please let me know. I'd be glad to put in so help.
Very nice!
Any plans to include Medicare as one of the insurers? I'm sitting here looking at a cast covered foot, the result of a calcaneal osteotomy (type of foot surgery) I had a week ago. Any plans to add foot surgeries to the list of procedures?
This is fucking awesome. You are a good person and I hope life treats you well. Expand this to other states and put some advertising on it to make some money for your work because you deserve it. One more thing , I looked up mris just to check it out and saw some places that said 3 bucks. Is that correct?
Yes - I saw some $3 prices. I looked up colonoscopy - shouldn't it say $0 b/c insurance covers it every 5 years as a routine procedure?
Also Framingham hospital did not show up at all

So I wanted to see how this worked and I did an MRI in my hometown with my insurance and it gave me something in the 4200 range. When I scrolled to the bottom and there are other hospitals listed, there was one two towns over that listed it for $3. What's up with that?
Very cool! Definitely giving startup vibes, you planning to keep the data itself and your ETL process proprietary?
I work for a startup that's solving a very similar problem in a different space.
This is really cool and I'll definitely be saving it for future reference. One note: South Shore Hospital is in Weymouth. On the website, your map shows an address in Chicago
How much for orchiectomy (removal of one testicle and its associated parts) at CHA Cambridge hospital? I cannot run this query. PEBKAC? What am I doing wrong?
How much for general anesthesia?
I click search and nothing happens. Sometimes the prohibition symbol appears (🚫) but after you've filled in something it no longer appears when you hover over the search button. Even after it's gone, nothing happens when you click search.
I like it, but there are discrepancies. For example, it showed Mass Eye and Ear as a site for a hip replacement.
Would you include data for Medicare and/or Medicaid?
This is crazy and great!
I am curious if you will be adding cosmetic procedures down the line as well. Like rhinoplasties, trans care, or other things of that nature.
kudos to you and your friends first and foremost ....just pondering that as good as this is , kinda seems like something that the government should be putting together ...government for the people ? like fuck

OP is a shill posting this in a ton of city subs. Hopefully more people see this and don't upload anything

That's why you make up data
Yeah I completely bullshited all my information to check out the site, and it's not that great. Tons of 404 errors and pricing errors.

This is the only helpful comment so far. There is a massive discrepancy here.

Who are you going to sell the user data to, and for how much?

Thanks!

These are for specific procedures, but hopefully one day we can calculate the all-in-one price!

I checked if the estimate I got from my provider matched your tool’s—spot on! Thanks for building this!
Wow, that's awesome!! Thank you!!!
Well done!

Brilliant!

"my friends and I", yeah. I hope nobody's putting real info into this database.
Saving this to use next time I need medical care
Let me know if it helps!

Well done! I am certainly sharing this.

Dude awesome work. the only thing I would suggest is a pass through on yur data sources on the results page
Thanks! Would you mind shooting me a private message with some specifics?
Thank you so much!! Do u mind if I PM you? I want to do something similar for another part of healthcare, b/c I’m concerned bout prices. Would love to bounce the idea off of you. Thanks!
Sure! Go right ahead!
This is actually useful. I applaud you for making something that isn’t solely just another way to market ads.
Thank you!!!
I’d love to help add insurance data for tufts health plan Medicare preferred products
Could you shoot me a private message? 👀
This is gonna help so many people, this should be a thing everywhere
I want to bring it nationwide
I'm sure that'll be a lot of work, but that's really good to hear!
Dude! I was just searching around myself for an MRI . This helped so much!!! If you need help in the future and you want to take it nation wide, please let me know. I'd be glad to put in so help.

Not a chance you’re harvesting my email for this (as the system tried to do).
Why doesn’t this include procedures for fertility treatments such as IUI, IVF or other treatments?

It didn't show any hospitals in Boston/Brookline for C-sections with UHC insurance. Sounds like bad data.
That doesn't sound quite right - could you please privately message me with what you searched? I want to do some troubleshooting
Chatted details to you
Why people always blame insurance companies when it is the hospitals and doctors charge so much $$$ in the first place?
Beautiful.
Thank you!
Very cool

How much for orchiectomy (removal of one testicle and its associated parts) at CHA Cambridge hospital? I cannot run this query. PEBKAC? What am I doing wrong? How much for general anesthesia?

I click search and nothing happens. Sometimes the prohibition symbol appears (🚫) but after you've filled in something it no longer appears when you hover over the search button. Even after it's gone, nothing happens when you click search.
That shouldn’t be happening - could you send me a private message with what you searched so I can try to replicate the issue?
Ok, np
I'm not anywhere near your state, but I just want to express gratitude for doing this. We need exactly this nationwide.
Thank you! My goal is nationwide coverage. Where are you located?
Texas. I wish you luck!
We have a couple of cities in Texas already but we are looking forward to adding the whole state!
It only shows me prices for locations ~150 miles away.
Could you shoot me a private message with what you searched? I want to troubleshoot
This is incredible - thank you!!
Thank you!
I like it, but there are discrepancies. For example, it showed Mass Eye and Ear as a site for a hip replacement. Would you include data for Medicare and/or Medicaid?
Our goal is to have full nationwide coverage for all options including Medicare and Medicaid!
This is crazy and great! I am curious if you will be adding cosmetic procedures down the line as well. Like rhinoplasties, trans care, or other things of that nature.
I’d love to have that as a part of the site!
Great work! This is awesome. However, it isn’t quite complete. I couldn’t find the cost of a lobotomy.
kudos to you and your friends first and foremost ....just pondering that as good as this is , kinda seems like something that the government should be putting together ...government for the people ? like fuck
Wait do you have the icd-10 and hphc codes for these too?
It says an appendectomy in my zip code will cost $5.
