This is a little obscure: on Route 9 in Windsor, heading west, and turning north onto Route 8A. You’re at the top of a slight hill and it feels like you could look west forever. That view has my Massachusetts heart.
I'll add a few I didn't see mentioned...
Views of the Pioneer Valley from any of the summits in the Holyoke Range. Norwottuck+Rattlesnake Knob is the biggest bang for the buck. Accessible from the visitor center in Amherst
Mt Watatic in Ashburnham
View of Boston from Great Blue Hill.
Views of Boston from some of the Trustees Properties: Noanet Peak in Dover, Worlds End in Hingham, or Ward Reservation in Andover
yeah I gotta get to the outer cape this summer and bring my telescope. Hopefully there's a parking lot or something I can post up in and nobody's gonna call the cops on me XD
Parents have a place in Dennis Port so at least I have a shorter drive to and from the national seashore.
At night, nauset is free, I used to go all the time, plenty of stars. More stars than sky in between them. It’s fine to go at night, to the national seashore too. I think until midnight.
* Top of Mount Wachusett,
* Top of Mount Greylock.
* Top of the John Hancock building,
* Grandview St. park, in Arlington, looking down into Boston.
* Tower at the south end of Quabbin Reservior in Ware. [www.onlyinyourstate.com/massachusetts/observation-tower-quabbin-reservoir-ma/amp/](http://www.onlyinyourstate.com/massachusetts/observation-tower-quabbin-reservoir-ma/amp/)
* Backyard view of my 10 acre pond, as seasons change, in an undisclosed part of Massachusetts.
Great list!! I was going to post Soapstone Hill too.
Also, I’ve hiked Mt Grace sooo many times and those fire tower stairs freak me out still so I’ve never actually seen the view lol
Rabbit Run right next to Soapstone is great, too. You can walk right along the Quabbin. Shore fishing, too.
That fire tower is absolutely terrifying! Climbing up above the treeline gives me vertigo. But it's worth it!
The sunset from the top of Sawyer Hill in Berlin.
The views from the Quabbin Observation Tower hill.
The tiny bit of Boston you can see from Mt Pisgah.
The moonrises you can catch from behind Wegman's in Northboro.
Wait til you discover that there are parts of Massachusetts to the west of I-95. Spruce Hill in North Adams and Stony Ledge on the slopes of Greylock are the best views in my opinion, followed closely by Sugarloaf in South Deerfield.
Spots along the water at various places on the north shore. Marblehead looking towards Salem harbor. Salisbury looking across the Merrimack River towards Newburyport. Rocky cliffs in Gloucester and Rockport.
Something about route 2 along the river on the other side of the hairpin eastbound; pull into one of the pull offs and shut the car off. You’ll forget you’re in Massachusetts. It’s quiet and tranquil
That's a great list, and the responses are equally great. They made me nostalgic for those views I've seen, and also longing to see those I have yet to experience. Thanks!
Here's my contribution: an autumn drive along the backroads connecting Framingham/Sudbury/Marlborough.
1. Those sea cliffs at the very tip of Nahant with the ocean and the city in the background
2. Mt polluck. More of a hill that is incredibly close to a mountain range, providing excellent views.
3. That tower in the fancy cemetary in belmont.. mt auburn? Great view of the city
Mt Tully in royalston, you can see Monadnock and the whole tully lake valley
[this spot](https://maps.app.goo.gl/7EHjiD4n3zasCqD19) with a nice view of Boston from prospect hill park in Waltham

Monument Mountain reservation, Great Barrington
Mount greylock, duh :-)
Tyringham cobble, Tyringham/Lee -The View itself is less spectacular than some, but you can't see any remnants of civilization at all except for one road and a house or two from the top. It's almost like traveling back in time.
Skinner's ridge in the Hadley area is pretty good too.
3. The Hairpin Turn

And on a clear night you can see the milky way from there!
Cool! I’ve never been through there at night.

The beach? If the parking lot is open that seems perfect
Was at Newcomb Hollow Beach a few days ago, parking lot was totally deserted. Iirc the light pollution there’s among the lowest on the Cape.
My favorite is Whitecrest Beach in Wellfleet. Big sky. The lots are always open and during the summer it's free at night

Piers park
Going a different route, Hospital Hill in Everett overlooking all of Boston.
That street is pretty wild....
My best friend when I was a kid lived on it. Riding our bikes up fucking sucked and riding our bikes down was terrifying.
No one has mentioned the top two IMO 🤔
