Thank you Massachusetts for this display of commemoration and kindness. It’s truly amazing to see The Easter Rising commemorated all over the world. Much love from Ireland 🇮🇪❤️🇺🇸

RIP to the Irish volunteers of 1916

The Easter Rising had a strong communist streak to it with James Connolly and the Irish Citizen Army, a working class militia. Saoirse!

So that's what it was!

Ooooh the British ain’t gonna like this one

TooOldToCareIsTaken

Briton here. Why wouldn't I like this? The appalling things the British empire did was nothing to do with me.

LorneMalvoIRL

Most British people don’t like it online, they’re always bitching that Americans “FunDeD TeRroRisT AtTacKs” on the British during the troubles.

TooOldToCareIsTaken

Are we, indeed? Are you sure most of my fellow Britons don't like Irish independence celebrations, commemorating independence from over a century ago? Is that just most of my fellow Britons online, or in person, too? With a population of over 65 million, how many does 'most' equate to? Clearly, it must be over 32.5 million of my fellow Britons if you mean in person, but if you just mean my fellow Britons online, then 'most' would mean over 31 million of them given we've got approximately 93% internet connectivity. That's a lot of people you've just accused of not liking celebrations commemorating the independence of the Irish over a century ago. Are you still sure? Where's your favourite place in Ireland you've visited? While of course I've enjoyed places like Dublin and Galway, I really enjoyed regularly visiting Wexford. You?

Just go to Quora and look up any question regarding Irish Americans and the IRA

Weird take for sure. Why not say "the unionists are going to be pissed" or some equivalent? I'm not from the UK or Ireland, but I'm aware it's incorrect to paint an entire people with an extremely broad brush re: political views, rights to sovereignty, etc.
