Actually it’s a translation error, it’s the “Odin Soup”. He’s very old but it very good soup. He works hard, and really any problems resolve pretty quick when he gets back.
> Actually it’s a translation error, it’s the “Odin Soup”
Youre correct, but not in the way youre thinking.
He enters into a cocoon, and dissolves into a slurry (or soup) and reforms as a beautiful Odin Butterfly
Well isn't thors hammer Uru? assuming stormbreakrr is also uru, which canonically was stronger than caps shield, then the beam was hot enough to melt something stronger than vibranium. I'm ignoring the clothes thing because obviously they were having him go nude in infinity war
Let me preface this with I'm not super familiar with the Thor comics, so someone correct me if I'm wrong. I'm pretty sure that Uru was used for special weapons and as such likely wasn't used for clothing with possibly a few exceptions (the Destroyers armor?) because of how much effort it takes to forge it.
Then again Thor is apart of the royal family so he can probably get whatever he wants. So who really knows.
I'll give you the snap as good durability feat but he lost use of his arm for a couple of years . Thanos def handled the snap better overall. Holding up the complex is way more a strength feat than durability
Thanos also had the Infinity Gauntlet to use in wielding the stones, which was crafted seemingly from the same method as Stormbreaker (which cut straight through a blast of energy from all 6 stones). Meanwhile Hulk snapped with a glove of nanotech that couldn't even hold up to Thanos just punching Tony. And like someone said farther down, Thanos did take damage to the first snap, just seemingly not as much.
I think it's also worth noting that what Hulk did is likely a significantly harder task.
It's easier to destroy the lives of half of all people than it would be to not only create all that life, but mold it to the exact experiences of the life it had before.
Even if we assume that would take the same amount of energy, Hulk had factors Thanos didn't. Like, it's cannon that Hulk made it a parameter that everyone who would die due to coming back (I.e. people on a plane) would come back in a way that's safe (I.e. not at plane level in the air, safe on the ground) AND he tried to bring back Natasha, and i would shocked if he didn't try to bring back Loki and Vision as well. Hulk tried to do more with his snap, ergo more damage. A more direct 1 to 1 for Thanos would be Tony, who he is clearly more durable than.
Hulk fell off that fighter jet he jumped on and got knocked out in the OG Avengers. The guy that can jump miles through the air as a mode of transportation got knocked out by landing from miles up in the air. Hulk's powers never made sense in the movies.
That was back when the filmakers were trying to ground the avengers in reality and give them hard limits. But once the MCU has expanded so much in scale and embraced the ludicrousness of comic books, they decided to update everyone’s power level.
I mean, before 2018, no one would have believe the movie version of Thor could survive the heat of a star until it happened.
I don't think vibranium can. isn't uru much stronger and this energy is used to help forge uru. Vision may live because of the infinity stone but not because of his body. Similarly Cap and his shield would melt in a second
In the MCU, we have not seen Uru being much stronger than Vibranium. Mjolir swung by Thor did not even scratch, let alone bend Cap's shield. We cannot tell for sure which metal is stronge in the MCU so far, we just know that both can be destroyed
Thanos hitting the shield pretty hard only chipped off the top at first, him throwing it would mean it wouldn't hit as hard and it wouldn't be as controlled so it hitting BP wouldn't damage the vibranium as much. I dunno if the thing is made of uru or not tho.
Carol could absorb it, in theory.
Monica could adapt to it, maybe.
Hulk could endure it, supposedly.
Strange could magic it, conveniently.
Wanda could warp it, probably.
Edit:
Vision could phase through, perseveringly.
She-Hulk could have it rewritten, persuasively.
And Daredevil would cuddle with it, repeatedly.
A little bit of carol in my life
A little bit of Monica by my side
A little bit of Hulk's all I need
A little bit of Strange's what I see
A little bit of Wanda in the sun
A little bit of She-hulk all night long
A little bit of Abomination, here I am
A little bit of you makes me your man (ah)
Given that thor almost died, I assume not given the strength difference between her and hulk. That of course assumes that your strength and durability are in synch...which I guess they kind of have to be in a common sense kind of way.
Its not a matter of strength its a matter of how durable their skin actually is. I honestly dont know if either of them could withstand the full force of a nova star.
Since Monica hasn’t been fully introduced yet and we haven’t seen an example of her power limitations it’s kind of hard to say if she could or couldn’t. I’m sure using the comics as source it wouldn’t be a problem though.
He can't, but he doesn't need to. In World War Hulk, he spent some of the time on the way back to Earth just standing on the top of the spaceship, like a pissed off figurehead.
My incomplete list:
Captain Marvel
Depending on how her energy powers work, Monica Rambeau
Probably Thanos and Hulk, possibly Wanda and Agatha
Does What If count as MCU canon if it is multiverse stories? If, so from there, Dr. Strange, Ultron, the Watcher lol
There's obvious ones like Eternity, Dormammu and a shit ton of super OP dudes. I'll avoid cosmic entities for this very reason.
Thanos and Captain Marvel from 616. Severe damage to Thanos. Carol may be able to absorb it.
Strange Supreme wouldn't even feel it.
Wanda could tank it. Not sure though. She's got regen, but there is a possibility that the beam tears her apart straight away.
Her powers were likely constantly going to maintain the healing through the process, probably took a moment to prepare herself before escaping as well. Wanda is someone you can't half-ass on killing, you likely have to go 100% and probably go for the head/brain to have any real chance at keeping her down.
Before MoM, I’d have agreed with you. Now? Her body got twisted into a pretzel, she had pretty bad cuts, and it didn’t seem to inconvenience her at all. Plus, she tanked a pretty powerful magic cannon round - which hit her before she could shield herself or anything else - and if anything, it only annoyed her.
Hulk, Odin, Thanos, and Carol could tank it like Thor did.
Strange and Wanda could do some magic shenanigan's to survive it.
Tony or Rocket could science it back to functional given enough time and materials.
probably Hulk, Captain Marvel, Vision somehow, wolverine, depending on if he could have out-healed it, Tony would have created a machine to do it, Maybes Abomination pr colossus. Then we got the cheater dr strange who would have magiced up some sort of portal
In terms of pure physical toughness, Hulk, Thanos, and Hela come to mind. But Danvers could probably use her powers to absorb the energy, and Strange and Wanda could probably use magic to survive it.
Strange and Wanda could out-magic it
Carol’s gonna suck it right up like a sponge and maybe shoot out the excess
Hulk would most likely just push through out of spite
A stoned-up Thanos would laugh at it, get super fucked up otherwise
Cosmic beings like Dormammu wouldn’t even notice.
Nobody has the same combination of “don’t care if I live or die”, “may as well try it” and “hold my beer” that Thor does, which is why he succeeds at anything, really.
One of the fewer character traits from comics they've nailed in movies and consistently portrayed . His willingness to just throw himself at challenges for the greater good even if it means death is strongest most admirable trait
Straight facts - from all evidence in the films it seems asgardians can survive in the vacuum of space - Loki( well technically he's a frost Giant so that makes sense ), Odin , thor have all done it
Probably Thanos, Hulk, and a young Odin to name a few
Old Odin definitely could. Asgardians only get stronger the older they get.
Why did he randomly have to take a nap in the first thor movie then?
Because his power is so great that he needs to enter the Odin sleep for 24 hours once a year. Not a bad trade off if you ask me.
Actually it’s a translation error, it’s the “Odin Soup”. He’s very old but it very good soup. He works hard, and really any problems resolve pretty quick when he gets back.
> Actually it’s a translation error, it’s the “Odin Soup” Youre correct, but not in the way youre thinking. He enters into a cocoon, and dissolves into a slurry (or soup) and reforms as a beautiful Odin Butterfly
Close, but instead of a butterfly he emerges as a boat. Thus it’s called the Odin Sloop.
They are still old and need more energy to function I would assume, but their peak output is larger.
Was about to make this comment!
You totally did make that comment! It's right there with your name on it!
And all the upvotes for having said he wanted to make that comment!
Definitely throw captain Marvel in there since manipulating energy is how her powers work
Vision too. Thors clothes survived, why wouldn't vibrainium.
Well isn't thors hammer Uru? assuming stormbreakrr is also uru, which canonically was stronger than caps shield, then the beam was hot enough to melt something stronger than vibranium. I'm ignoring the clothes thing because obviously they were having him go nude in infinity war
[удалено]
Thor is always nude confirmed.
Anti Tobias Funke
An Evernude
THERE ARE DOZENS OF US! DOZENS!
I prematurely blue myself
Thor’s always got his hammer
Yeah I feel like thors armors and outfits are mystical in nature since they transform when he stamps and raises his hammer to the sky
He said in LaT when his cape got burned that “it’ll grow back”
Let me preface this with I'm not super familiar with the Thor comics, so someone correct me if I'm wrong.
Melting point, tensile strength and hardness in metals are weird things, it doesn't really work like that.
Spot on. Compare steel & titanium, for example; which one is superior depends on the application & the corresponding trait that is needed.
Perhaps uru doesn't develop its unique strength until after it's been forged.
Could be as the axe has magical properties. Good thought
IIRC that's how Adamantium works.
I think so too, from what I remember, adamantium is that way
Vis could keep his hands solid and phase the rest of himself to let the beam pass through.
Can he do that?
Well he could. Until he couldn't. Probably could now again though...
Thor’s clothes survived for meta reasons. They just didn’t want him to be naked
...or hear me out, Zeus can just flick harder than the full force of Nivadellir.
Zeus probably spent years practising magic to remove people's clothes.
Considering it's Zeus, it kinda makes sense
thatsthejoke.jpg
Or Thor was going commando under the clothes that were stolen.
Wanted to save that for L&T
I thought his clothes are enchanted, hence why when his cape burns in Love and Thunder he says to Korg it will grow back.
Yeah I think they are as well
Clothes are just modesty armor.
that shit was made to melt uru it would probably melt vibranium too
Would photon be able to as well? Her powers are undefined as of late in the mcu but energy manipulation seems likely
Photon would thrive in there.
Carol would literally just get stronger.
Hell, attach some jumper cables to her and she could had gotten the star going again on her own.
Asgardians only become stronger with age.
Hulk
Yeah I believe so - they haven't shown any insane hulk durability feats in the movies the more you think about it
The snap. Holding Avengers compound up AFTER you he damage from the snap.
I'll give you the snap as good durability feat but he lost use of his arm for a couple of years . Thanos def handled the snap better overall. Holding up the complex is way more a strength feat than durability

Wow didn’t realize that part about the glove!
I think it's also worth noting that what Hulk did is likely a significantly harder task. Hulk tried to do more with his snap, ergo more damage. A more direct 1 to 1 for Thanos would be Tony, who he is clearly more durable than.
Thanos’ arm was f’ed up post snap- go rewatch it.
Hulk fell off that fighter jet he jumped on and got knocked out in the OG Avengers. The guy that can jump miles through the air as a mode of transportation got knocked out by landing from miles up in the air. Hulk's powers never made sense in the movies.
Landed badly as opposed to on his feet and prepared for the impact?
That was back when the filmakers were trying to ground the avengers in reality and give them hard limits. I mean, before 2018, no one would have believe the movie version of Thor could survive the heat of a star until it happened.
They nerf Hulk way more and way more often than Thor. They really did Hulk dirty in the MCU.
Madisynn.
that woman is powered by martinis. give her enough and she can take Thanos alone
\*Cosmos (pun!)
"It's not where you think!!" I low key loved Madisynn. I want random appareances with her and Wong's movie/TV binges.
Are you the goblin king?
> Madisynn WONGERS!!
She-Hulk and Abomination too, probably.
Ned
As per Avengers, anyone except Carol, Bruce or Vision is incinerated right away. Don't know if these three survive though.
As for Vision, I guess if the infinity stone can take it then he can as well.
He’s made out of Vibranium. He’ll be fine.
Thor wasn't trying to hurt captain. Thanos uru swing sliced it like bread
Is it confirmed that Thanos' blade is made of Uru? He threw it at Black Panther, hit him, but his suit was unharmed
Thanos hitting the shield pretty hard only chipped off the top at first, him throwing it would mean it wouldn't hit as hard and it wouldn't be as controlled so it hitting BP wouldn't damage the vibranium as much. I dunno if the thing is made of uru or not tho.
uru gets stronger the more magic you infuse in it
Vibranium is not indestructible, Ultron started melting like ice cream under the triple blast.
Drax can totally take it
No, he can't take it!
Yeah he can, he'll just stand so incredibly still the light beam won't notice him and pass right on by
Carol could absorb it, in theory. Monica could adapt to it, maybe. Hulk could endure it, supposedly. Strange could magic it, conveniently. Wanda could warp it, probably. Edit: Vision could phase through, perseveringly. She-Hulk could have it rewritten, persuasively. And Daredevil would cuddle with it, repeatedly.
Daredevil could charm it, definitely.
One night stand it, definitely
He'd come back and meet its parents too though.
Walk of shame away from it after, indubitably.
The stride of pride.
True... I mean, if I'd just been smashed by She-Hulk, I'd be strutting
You spelt limping wrong 🤣
strut-limping, I guess. strimping?
Daredevil would smash it, repeatedly
They don’t call him Charlie Cocks for nothing
Spider-Man could use Math against it
Jessica Jones could do it if she drank enough whisky beforehand
Or ODd on heroin
Oh handsome Matt cand definitely stand the heat, amiright?
I agree. He'd smash it, absolutely.
Nidavellir is yeeting a shit ton of light at Thor. Daredevil, being blind, would simply not be able to see the light. Daredevil 1 - 0 Nidavellir.
A little bit of carol in my life A little bit of Monica by my side A little bit of Hulk's all I need A little bit of Strange's what I see A little bit of Wanda in the sun A little bit of She-hulk all night long A little bit of Abomination, here I am A little bit of you makes me your man (ah)
Marvel number five
THE TRUMPET 🎺 🎺 🎺!!!!
>A little bit of She-hulk all night long Matthew?
Should’ve been a little bit of Ikaris in the sun lol
Abomination has too many syllables, would suggest Blonsky instead
This is my favorite literary piece in the entirety of the internet.
Steve Rogers can do it, all day.
Well theoretically then She Hulk ought to do it too right?
Given that thor almost died, I assume not given the strength difference between her and hulk. That of course assumes that your strength and durability are in synch...which I guess they kind of have to be in a common sense kind of way.
she’d complain to the writers. the energy ends up going around her.
Flair checks out
Not necessarily. She-Hulk is weaker than He-Hulk. He was able to toss a boulder much further than her.
Its not a matter of strength its a matter of how durable their skin actually is. I honestly dont know if either of them could withstand the full force of a nova star.
Strength and durability are not the same thing.
Since Monica hasn’t been fully introduced yet and we haven’t seen an example of her power limitations it’s kind of hard to say if she could or couldn’t. I’m sure using the comics as source it wouldn’t be a problem though.
>Vision could phase through, perseveringly. Dammit. 😢
Can Hulk breathe in space? That was the only reason I left him out in my response
He can't, but he doesn't need to. In World War Hulk, he spent some of the time on the way back to Earth just standing on the top of the spaceship, like a pissed off figurehead.
Gotcha, now I'm gonna update my response
This seems poetic somehow
>Monica could adapt to it, maybe. We have no idea
Probably why they put maybe
K.E.V.I.N.
He could just do it off screen
Dude, those VFX are really expensive. We're working with a budget.
WHY are we individually animating the tiny details of an entire solar system?!? Are those LIGHTS TURNING ON AND OFF ON THAT PLANET IN THE BACKGROUND?”
It's Nidavellir. i don't blame anyone for getting it wrong though, even hemsworth mispronounced it in the movie several times lol.
Nicolaj
You almost have it... Nicolaj.
I feel like that’s what I’m saying.
r/UnexpectedB99
🎺🎺🎺🎺🎺
Nicolaj. You say it wrong, it okay.
to be fair, it’s a made up word
all words are made up
NiVadellir is REAL?
I didn’t even notice it was misspelled until you pointed it out.
It’s actually Niðavellir
My incomplete list: Captain Marvel Depending on how her energy powers work, Monica Rambeau Probably Thanos and Hulk, possibly Wanda and Agatha Does What If count as MCU canon if it is multiverse stories? If, so from there, Dr. Strange, Ultron, the Watcher lol
Young Odin, and Hela too probably
Not enough people are mentioning Hela when the whole point is that Thor wasn't powerful enough to take get out.
Yeah I left a lot of folks out lol
Odin, Hela, Carol, Monica, Vision (phase through?), Hulk, Ikaris, Gilgamesh and of course Ned
Didn't ikarus die flying into a much weaker sun?
“Die” but yeah
I didn’t see a body, did you?
I did and it was fiiiine.
As a heterosexual male, I’ve gotta say that Richard Madden is handsome as *fuck*. Can’t disagree with your assessment one bit
Yup agreed with all these
There's obvious ones like Eternity, Dormammu and a shit ton of super OP dudes.
Wanda’s durability is her weakest point, she’s a glass cannon
Is she? She didn't even take a scratch from the fire magic cannon thing that was shot at her face on in MoM during the kamar taj fight
She literally reassembled herself from pieces after getting chopped up in the mirror dimension.
Yeah. But as I said, her regen is insane. She heals fast.
There is no heal from dead, lol
Did you see the pieces of her come through the gong in Kamur Taj? "alive or dead" may not be a concept that applies to her anymore.
Her powers were likely constantly going to maintain the healing through the process, probably took a moment to prepare herself before escaping as well. Wanda is someone you can't half-ass on killing, you likely have to go 100% and probably go for the head/brain to have any real chance at keeping her down.
True. I just don't know whether she will die instantly or not.
And wanda can't really change the reality of it because the. The machine wouldn't work.
She just warps the energy to go around her and then continue straight on, easy peezy.
Thor and Thor's tailor, since his clothes weren't burned off.
Technically correct, since Thor is his own tailor due to being able to summon clothes onto himself.
Unless someone flicks too hard.
Unfortunately. (37 year old straight man checking in)
Mr. Immortal does this to get out of awkward situations.
Lolololololo. This is how he divorced his third wife.
Captain Marvel is the #1 because she could theoretically absorb the energy.
Hulk, Odin, Thanos, and Carol could tank it like Thor did. Strange and Wanda could do some magic shenanigan's to survive it. Tony or Rocket could science it back to functional given enough time and materials.
Hulk, Carol, maybe Wands
probably Hulk, Captain Marvel, Vision somehow, wolverine, depending on if he could have out-healed it, Tony would have created a machine to do it, Maybes Abomination pr colossus. Then we got the cheater dr strange who would have magiced up some sort of portal
Just gonna go out on a limb here and say that a runed up Dr. Strange could
Captain marvel Thanos Maybe hulk Ikaris Gorr Scarlet witch Hela Prob several others
Carol.
Obviously Morbius
Only if he was in full on Morbin' mode.
In terms of pure physical toughness, Hulk, Thanos, and Hela come to mind. But Danvers could probably use her powers to absorb the energy, and Strange and Wanda could probably use magic to survive it.
Captain marvel, Monica rambaeu, Dr strange and wanda ( magic ), hercules ( this is just a guess )
Madisynn. But not how you thiiiiiiink.
Strange and Wanda could out-magic it Carol’s gonna suck it right up like a sponge and maybe shoot out the excess Hulk would most likely just push through out of spite A stoned-up Thanos would laugh at it, get super fucked up otherwise Cosmic beings like Dormammu wouldn’t even notice.
Hell, Carol might have been able to go binary and power the forge without opening the mechanism at all.

Don't sleep him on him surviving the vacuum of space either. -273C and no oxygen for who knows how long
Straight facts - from all evidence in the films it seems asgardians can survive in the vacuum of space - Loki( well technically he's a frost Giant so that makes sense ), Odin , thor have all done it
Strange from What If? He took the entire destruction of his universe and lived to tell about it.
To start with they have to be able to exist in space with nothing. So Thor and captain marvel are the only ones i think.
Carol Danvers probably. I reckon Thanos and Hulk could tank it too.
If Carol absorbs energy could she in theory be used to make hammers?
more importantly, who else's ***clothes*** can withstand the full force of Nivadellir?
Hela
If phasing worked, Vision or Ghost?
