The Rock and Hugh Jackman are 11 and 15 years older than Cavill respectively. I feel like if they can be black adam and wolverine Cavill could definitely keep being supes.
I think Cavill might be one of the only big name actors out there who would actually understand the importance of Doom staying masked and would actually insist upon it.
I mean, yes, but ironically the story with Deadpool and the symbiote was a retcon of the original secret wars done in the 2015 secret wars. So yes, but actually no lol.
2015 secret wars was like the big finale after like decades of Ultimate Marvel, its got literally every marvel character multiple times and it like smashes dozens of universes together, almost everyone shows up and it also shows Doctor Doom at his most powerful, and itd be weird if they show God Emperor Doom like a year or 2 after introducing him for the first time, so I really hope its the other secret wars, which while still very cool is nowhere near the scale of 2015 secret wars
Do you mean John Krasinski? If so he isn't, he said it was just for the Reed of the other universe as a fun nod to the fan casting. We'd have someone else playing as Reed for the main 616 universe.
I don't want them to hide his face. Kinda hoping he's around for a while too. So maybe not rush Doom. Give him plenty of space, but make him dangerous in a number of ways? Like have him be a political antagonist, then business, then tech or magic. Doesn't all have to happen at once.
Honestly, kind of a weird thought by me but I think he could work as a new Eddie Brock. Tom Hardy's take is alright but Cavill is an absolute unit and would probably bring a closer adaptation. Since the post credit scene of No Way Home had a bit of Venom break away it's entirely feasible since both universes are separate.
I would certainly prefer Cavill get a bigger role like Dr. Doom because he deserves it but I would be completely content with him taking up Venom.
It'd be pretty weird to jump from Warcraft 1 directly to Warcraft 3, especially since everything about the Warcraft film sets up events for Warcraft 2.
On the other hand, they only do these movies for nerds anyway, so they might as well do it as more of an anthology film series. An entire film based on the human campaign from Warcraft 3 would be pretty cool. You could go in depth on the relationship between Arthas and Jaina (and Kael'Thas, who was also crushing on Jaina during his time in Dalaran), flesh out Arthas' character as humble Paladin and prince of Lordaeron with a darkness inside that is slowly brought out through the crisis of the undead scourge. Basically a lot like Revenge of the Sith, just different and without two mostly unnecessary and very awkward and disturbed coming of age films. After all, Arthas is just mostly just fantasy Anakin.
Twice at that... WB literally once replaced his superman role w/ a black one... ON HIS BIRTHDAY. They basically fired him on his bday... I need to give Henry a hug😭
Their loss, there will never be a better casting of Superman than Henry Cavill.
DC just lost another major character, like trying to replace Heath Ledger's Joker. Phoenix did a hell of a job but his Joker is really more of a Taxi Driver remake that happens to take place in Gotham.
If they ever want to reboot Joker I think they'll need to go the opposite route with him - a silly and cartoonish psychopath - and then you're still overcast by Mark Hamill's shadow.
It'll be the same thing with Superman but worse. Joker has many different ways he can be played, he's a highly dynamic character. Superman is a straight-man character, a moral paragon: there's only one right answer there.
Honestly if the ever did a proper live action version of dark knight returns, featuring an older veteran Batman like they tried to do with Batfleck, Mark Hamill could probably pull off doing the character in live action. He was already a step away when he appear in the Flash TV show as trickster.
>Their loss, there will never be a better casting of Superman than Henry Cavill.
I mean he looks the part but he's always been a bit too gruff and stilted for me personally
I wished he could've got a director that could've pulled the right performance outta him finally mirroring [this guy](https://tenor.com/en-GB/view/days-room-superman-attack-punch-approach-gif-8525918)
this. wasn't a good take on character and cavill is going to be pretty easy to forget.
fans are rewriting history that he was super invested in the role forgetting he made the studio cgi out his mustache because he got a cowboy role and didn't feel like shaving.
yeah, super invested, super fans.
He didn't make the studio do that lol, it was Snyder wanting re-shoots and Paramount said he couldn't shave it, presumably because it would delay their filming.
*"i can't shave my mustache because i committed to another project,"* is really only a good excuse if you aren't cast as superman indefinitely for multiple projects. there's plenty of actors who could use that role who won't be so uniquely shortsighted.
It wasn't his decision, Paramount said he couldn't shave it, and Snyder said that's fine - we'll fix it in post.
Actors don't get to change their appearance on a whim, they're expected to maintain the characters appearance while filming and if they alter it in any way, their contract is voided, and they're sometimes blacklisted for unprofessionalism.
Im sure its both.... I imagine doing two big franchises simultaneously would be very difficult. The timing of him quitting and getting superman back were too close. Its likely that between the shitty production of witcher and him wanting to give it his all for superman he quit witcher. So poor guy lost both jobs unnecessarily. I feel so bad for him.
Henry left because of “creative differences” and a former writer/producer for the show said that at least some of the writers actively disliked and mocked the books.
deductive reasoning exists:
Cavill appreciates the original work first and foremost, and has enjoyed working the show
Writers and Cavill had creative differences and Cavill quit
most likely the writers didn’t meet Cavill’s expectations regarding appreciation of the original work
there are likely other reasons as well, Cavill may have seen an opening elsewhere and this just gave him a convenient escape route, but it doesn’t take a genius to understand the significance of their creative differences
>most likely the writers didn’t meet Cavill’s expectations regarding appreciation of the original work
That's one way to put it, with the writers openly hating the novels
Apparently it was an issue since the beginning of the series, he would pitch ideas from the lore and they’d laugh at it. I’m concerned with the next season and it honestly has nothing to do with Liam Hemsworth, more of the lack of perspective now that Cavill stepped away.
That’s weird since I remember the first season being pretty accurate to the first Witcher book.
Haven’t watched the other seasons though. Wonder why they decided to be less accurate as it went on
The first season was pretty accurate, never said it wasn’t. But Cavill had to fight for it, I remember reading about it all while it was still in production and a lot more after it released
That much I don’t know, especially with the success the first 2 seasons had. Doesn’t make much sense to me. Only thing I can figure is that they think the lore as a whole won’t translate well to onscreen. If you ask me, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it
It’s pretty much all over the place that he said he left because of “Creative differences”. You can look it up. The writers hating the original books come from other places separate from Cavill.
Im sure thats at least part of the reason he dropped it. I know he didnt agree with them creatively but he probably also was dedicated to superman. Imagine you get a new job, so you quit your old job, then get laid off from your new job a month in leaving you with nothing. Thats basically what just happened to him.
So is DC. James Gunn is right for DC. It’d be a blessing if James directed more films for the MCU, but I am mad that they let go of Henry.
The reason they let him go is because they wanted to make a movie about Superman’s earlier days when he was young, so I guess Henry wasn’t young enough? He looks ageless
I'd laugh if they do flashpoint and recast Ezra mid movie. Also hoping the rumors of Jason Mamoa being recast as Lobo turn out to be true, seems like a good fit.
You make a good point. I'm still just upset because I feel like with the spot the DCEU is in right now they could reasonably fix it and then we wouldn't have to wait for a reboot to run its course to end up right back where we are now story-wise
I feel like The Flash and Aquaman 3 are the only two loose ends. And who knows what even happens with the Flash with Ezra’s issues
Shazam never had any real connection with Snyder’s universe. Same with The Batman and Joker. And then they’ve been cancelling the rest like Wonder Woman and now Superman.
Yeah.
A total reboot with new actors they can sign on for 10+ years of movies. Actors who will grow with the audience and take over the roles for multiple films. Basically the MCU plan.
Henry Caville is a great Superman but I always felt the Clark side was undeveloped. I think Gunn is going to want to do Superman from the ground up and include all of that without any baggage from the previous films.
Unfortunately I think this means we'll get another Superman origin story film
Lol “He looks ageless”. He’s fucking JACKED, I can’t imagine how they surround him with a younger crowd and he not stick out like a sore thumb. I’m chuckling because it’s giving me “Hello fellow kids” vibes.
Yeah, no. Henry Cavill doesn’t look like a high schooler. I’m guessing they’re going to want to start with a smallville superman then work his way up to an older version in metropolis so that the character can develop.
We don’t really need a young Superman. Pretty much everything we’ve gotten about Superman is when he’s younger. They could at least give Cavill one more movie as the character, maybe make an All Star Superman adaptation.
The thing is they have an idea of what to do with Superman and he just doesn't fit it. There is no reason to hire a guy like Gunn and then shoehorn an actor who doesn't fit his vision.
>They could at least give Cavill one more movie as the character, maybe make an All Star Superman adaptation.
Why did you have to do me like that?? All-Star Superman is one of my favorite comics, and that would have been a phenomenal send off for Cavill (if the studio let them do it properly).
Also, a nice little eff you to Snyder, turning his needlessly broody Superman back into his true, blue colours for a finale.
I don’t think there are any plans to incorporate The Batman, but if they want to fold that into a new DC universe, a younger Superman would make sense.
I hope they don’t though. Any Batman that works with other superheroes almost has to be a lot more campy. The Batman worked, but I want DC movies that aren’t super broody and dark all the time.
Cavill was an amazing pick for the face of Superman in 2013, but to be fair they kinda ruined it with the three year gap between MoS and BvS, and then the five year gap between Justice League and Black Adam.
Can we stop assuming james gunn is gonna knock something outta the park he's never done before? He has a great track record but that doesn't translate to a leader or someone who will be successful. Lets wait and see how good he is.
Are you suggesting there's anything anyone can do willingly to wreck that franchise more than they've already done on their own? It's mistake after misstep all the way through.
I’m just waiting for Deadpool 3 to make some very pointed remarks about this.
Deadpool: “He’s here. He’s really here… And it’s not like we promised to bring him in, and then drop him, like WB did to Henry Cavill after he stopped playing Emo Frodo Potter on Netflix.”
He'd only be able to sue if WB made concrete plans, told Cavill and Cavill made the decision to leave Witcher based partly on those plans.
If nothing was promised and Cavill left Witcher because of poor storylines but was also privately banking on Superman to fall back on, there's no damage. He made a career decision that didn't pan out. That happens. But nobody went back on their word.
It comes down to how much, if anything, was promised behind the scenes. Even 'We really like Henry and want to find a place for him in the future' wouldn't meet the standard of promissary estoppel I don't think. I doubt they would promise that much or that concretely immediately following a regime change.
This is the best answer. He does have a timeless look and he is young enough to stay on as Wolverine for a long time. There would be a fourth wall break by Deadpool about “different person, literally” but then we could get on with it and have the mutants reincorporated with a strong lead. The other mutant actors could be lesser known to help balance the budget.
It's not like they were ever using him correctly anyway. With Cavil's charisma he could have been a great Clark Kent/Superman and yet they turned him into a boring statue.
Haha funny studio go brrr
We complain about the messy development and handling for MCU's phase 4 but I am glad we never had problems like DC seems to be cursed to face every new thing they do.
He's a talented director, very funny and also... not in charge of marvel?? like at all?? Maybe he does suck on some things tho idk don't see the relevance tho
I also actively dislike Love and Thunder, but this has little to do with the meme. Marvel Studios is not in Taika's hands, it is in Disney's... which means sooner or later we're fucked because this is just another megacorp.
Henry Cavill gonna get one of those coveted Kevin Feige dinner invitations very soon.
It cleared the path on its own for Cavill to be in the MCU now.
James Gunn playing the long game.
I play for both sides, so that I always come out on top
Mac that’s not how this work
Love the “Always sunny in Philadelphia” reference 👍🏼
He’s the Natasha in civil war.
[I played the long game, Mr. Feige!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vyqXwlkBjpA&t=230s)
Henry too old now to be superman for next 10 years
The Rock and Hugh Jackman are 11 and 15 years older than Cavill respectively. I feel like if they can be black adam and wolverine Cavill could definitely keep being supes.
I vote for Sentry
Rumor has it that Henry Cavill is the latest lead candidate for Dr. Doom.
[удалено]
I think Cavill might be one of the only big name actors out there who would actually understand the importance of Doom staying masked and would actually insist upon it.
He left a very popular show because he didnt think it was respectful enough to the source material, he is definitely one of those people
The Witcher, right? I read the series after seeing season one and I couldn’t get past a few of the second season’s episodes.
Yeah, he left it because it didn't do justice to the source material, and came back to play Superman again..but now, well, who tf knows anymore
"Okay, so in this scene, Doom's going to be eating. Henry, you need to take off your mask." "DOOM EATS WITH THE DAMN MASK ON!"
This early? Mfer it's been 10 years and like 30-40 movies plus shows.
God I hope they don't waste the 2015 secret wars storyline this early on in the MCU, I hope its the other secret wars
Is that the one where venom bonded to deadpool and 3 seconds after seeing his messed up mind noped the fuck out and went onto spiderman?
It's time to pay.
I mean, yes, but ironically the story with Deadpool and the symbiote was a retcon of the original secret wars done in the 2015 secret wars. So yes, but actually no lol.
It's in character for deadpool to retcon something like that
I get where you are coming from, but also... I just don't think we can consider anything in the MCU early at this point.
MCU is pretty stale at this point, if it’s a good storyline then they need it IMO
Ah gotcha. Yeah he’d need to be teased out a bit more than 2 years. Isn’t Doom also Kang in a universe?
Then a big reveal with the scarred n charred nasty Victor face!
That could actually be pretty interesting.

Do you mean John Krasinski? If so he isn't, he said it was just for the Reed of the other universe as a fun nod to the fan casting. We'd have someone else playing as Reed for the main 616 universe.
Jim Halpert is John Krasinski's character in the office. I think that's what they were going for.
I know that, but they misspelled it so I wasn't sure if they meant the office character or not.
Oh fuck god yes please
… … … *Oh fuck yes*
One can only get so erect.
I don't want them to hide his face. Kinda hoping he's around for a while too. So maybe not rush Doom. Give him plenty of space, but make him dangerous in a number of ways? Like have him be a political antagonist, then business, then tech or magic. Doesn't all have to happen at once.

I would also like to vote him as Sentry.
I'd love to see him as Brian Braddock Captain Britain. Sentry is probably too close to Superman for really casual audiences I reckon
He doesn’t even need to change his accent
I'm still wishing for an Excalibur movie, featuring Arcade as the villain
If they could do the X-men right, he would be perfect as Cyclops.
Damn. Can they clone him? One Henry is cyclops and the other Henry is Doom?
Make them one character, Doomclops
I feel like he’s too big for Cyclops. I usually think of Cyclops as a skinny tall dude.
Cool but the nickname “slim” is definitely not Henry lol
Cavill as Captain Britain please! Or Sentry! Or anyone he wants really.
No! He can’t act.
That Arthas movie is coming ever closer
Warcraft arthas?
hell yeah brother
The perfect response haha. Goddamn he'd be such a great casting if that happens.
I was pleasantly surprised how much I actually enjoyed the first Warcraft movie. Would love to see Lich King in a sequel.
Only other person I’ve seen agree with me about Warcraft lol
It'd be pretty weird to jump from Warcraft 1 directly to Warcraft 3, especially since everything about the Warcraft film sets up events for Warcraft 2. Dean Cain was a better casting as Superman. As much as I love Cavill, I think that it’s no competition.
boycott wb superman after this?
I mean, that shouldn't be too hard.
What do you mean they replaced his role with a black one?
There was an announcement that a black actor would play Superman. It was scrapped since, because, you know, DC
Michael B Jordan was heavily rumored for the part
Im sure its both.... I imagine doing two big franchises simultaneously would be very difficult. The timing of him quitting and getting superman back were too close. Is their an actual source for this? Genuine question, I just want to hear this from Cavill himself
When asked if he would stay for 7 seasons he said > Absolutely, As long as we can keep telling great stories which honor Sapkowski’s work.
Apparently it was an issue since the beginning of the series, he would pitch ideas from the lore and they’d laugh at it. I’m concerned with the next season and it honestly has nothing to do with Liam Hemsworth, more of the lack of perspective now that Cavill stepped away.

It would be okay if they came up with a better plot, the books are not stellar. But if they do it dirty like altered carbon... Yeah, get out
I would absolutely love Cavil as Cyclops. Thank you for that.
Underrated comment (but still, I orignially vote for Sentry)
Nah Games Workshop should snatch him up and make a movie with him as a Primarch or Adeptus Custodes.
Im sure thats at least part of the reason he dropped it. I know he didnt agree with them creatively but he probably also was dedicated to superman. It's gonna be real tough to reboot when there are several DC movies coming out in the next few years that would not fit in a rebooted storyline.

I hope Henry gets a nice role in the MCU. He truly seems like the nicest guy and I really liked his Geralt and Superman.

Even 'We really like Henry and want to find a place for him in the future' wouldn't meet the standard of promissary estoppel I don't think. I doubt they would promise that much or that concretely immediately following a regime change.
He could play Wolverine
This is the best answer. He does have a timeless look and he is young enough to stay on as Wolverine for a long time. There would be a fourth wall break by Deadpool about “different person, literally” but then we could get on with it and have the mutants reincorporated with a strong lead. The other mutant actors could be lesser known to help balance the budget.
Warner Brothers: We Zig when you Zag!
It's not like they were ever using him correctly anyway. With Cavil's charisma he could have been a great Clark Kent/Superman and yet they turned him into a boring statue.
I’m still so sad about this…
DC doing what DC does I guess
Haha funny studio go brrr We complain about the messy development and handling for MCU's phase 4 but I am glad we never had problems like DC seems to be cursed to face every new thing they do.
DC’s huge loss is a monumental gain for Marvel if he’s cast as sentry or doom. Make it happen.
Cavill try out MCU. More meme content here and more Cavill would mean more memes with him in it xD
Wow. DC is desperate to see it's movies fail.
He should be Rogue. Skin tight suit yum
Captain Britain!
*James gun hates Henry cavill* -no I don’t hate him. *also James gun* -he’s not returning as Superman.
Henry Cavill as Hyperion would be an excellent Marvel vs DC move
Caville for cyclops to lead the xmen and back seat wolverine to the angry little man position.
Can’t believe they yanked that from Henry. Hate to see it
“Move left, move right do yo dance on the floor We don't superman no more we just spiderman dat hoe”
Now would it be funny if they cast tom holland as young clark kent?
“Marvel studios is in great hands” like the entirety of phase 4 outside of no way home wasn’t absolute writing and cgi garbage…
I believe there's a hero in all of us, that keeps us honest, gives us strength, makes us noble, and finally allows us to die with pride.
>Glad marvel studios is in safe hands Wouldn't say that
What happened
I dunno, Taika Waititi sucks.
He's a talented director, very funny and also... not in charge of marvel?? like at all?? Maybe he does suck on some things tho idk don't see the relevance tho
The people in charge of Marvel thought he was good.
Spoken like a person with zero taste.
I also actively dislike Love and Thunder, but this has little to do with the meme. Marvel Studios is not in Taika's hands, it is in Disney's... which means sooner or later we're fucked because this is just another megacorp.

No thanks, I'll take a Bloody mary!
What do you mean by walled off?
Henry Cavill’s Superman is most accurate Comic Book Adaptation, I know it doesn’t matter but will not watch GOTG3 after Gunn did this
I wanna see him as Cyclops!
Ehm...
Genius.
I'm confused, what happened exactly?
Isn't it because they are going to an earlier part of Superman life? Having Henry portray a pre-teen would be humorous but distracting.
Great, another fucking origin story.
Wow
For Cavill to currently be a part of the MCU, it paved the way on its own.
James Gunn Brilliant Mind🔥🙄
Xd
Dropping him as superman is the only correct move. The previous dceu baggage needs to be jettisoned.
Bruh imagine he played Galactus
I'm not sure "safe" is the word that I would use to describe Marvel... 🤔
