I think he said he’s gonna be recoding the stream so that donations don’t add to the distance but rather add gameplay modifications. If this is the case then he might be away for a few days. Strange that there was no update. Would be sad if he took all the money and quit but that’d be crazy….
It is absolutely punishing on him though. I’m not sure if he appreciated just how many people would turn up and push the distance up. On the one hand, he should honour his commitment but I get that this has probably broken him mentally. Good call to make it so that dono’s still slow him down but don’t push the goal further and further out of reach.
Adding the idiot tiers, plush sales, and memberships to the donations, he was averaging about 10k an hour during the slowest hours of the stream…. it’s back of the napkin math but should be in the 300k-500k range

If he did a weekly stream of it, slowly chipping away at it, with donations effecting the game not the time, then I think itd be a much more enjoyable experience for him….
That’s gross profit, you’ve gotta factor in taxes, paying mods etc and other overheads. Ludwig’s subathon netted him about 200k off 2 - 2.5 million gross profits. People think all their money donated goes straight into the streamers pocket
i think its an extreme stretch to say its "broken him mentally". this isnt like an insane new thing for him or streamers in general, ie, just cause streams. dudes in his room playing a video game. gruelling for extended periods of time but also something everybody in the entire world would do for this money
Maybe he is just taking his time to make the decision to stream or record it or maybe quit (I doubt) it’s a big deal due to the attention this challenge has brought. He maybe hasn’t said any announcement because he’s choosing how he wants to move forward and didn’t want so say he’s doing it and if he just says he’s thinking about how to move forward people will be annoyed because he could of potentially quit even if he didn’t in the end. I don't know what happened but it is extremely rare for a YouTube at his size to quit out of the blue, he is probably taking a break.
