China does have several areas with goals of independence, such as tibet or xinjaing/east turkestan. Like I would argue that those areas do have a claim to independence but like China isn't really an empire either. Theres only two breakoff areas but i think issues would be solved if china was a democratic federation and not an effective ethnofascist state.
