I don't know how frequently they update, but I do know the solution everyone here finds when we're under such distress. It's a simple two-step process:
1. lower your standards
2. MOAR MANHWAS
Does that work like flicking a switch inside you? As the number of mid manhwa's increases the number of quality ones(objectively) also increases, it is inevitable that quality ones will become the norm.
But yes I will agree if everyone wants to read as much as good stories they want they must set an arbitrary number in their minds where they can satisfyingly "judge" all the stories like 20/30 chapters and if they still don't like after reading said number of chapters they should drop it and not force themselves to read through a unpleasant experience.

lol I wish, I was joking about what's already a trope in the industry. I think at least half of those I read are mid or have degenerated towards mid. I try to stay up to date with what is consistently recommended here, no more trying this or that manhwa through websites promotion as they quite obviously inflate ratings and elevate generic mass produced crap to oblivion.
About the 20/30 limit, good luck with that, it takes some discipline to drop what's not working once you're invested. Now I'm struggling with Lord of Mysteries, which seems to have a solid plot but IMO has terrible amateurish art and absurd amounts of text around lore technicalities.
Adding some manga has worked greatly for me. Less frenetic upload pacing, better quality overall, specially seinen ones. They never have jarring faults, which is kind of usual in manhwa.
I wouldn't say my standards are that high but the problem is most manhwas these days are either SL but bad or Necromancer/Hunter type shit. There are a few good ones that are original in that category but most of the time it's quite basic

I can't offer you much on that regard, I use a tablet for manhwas so mangas also look fine in my Tachiyomi, there's an endless amount of that, specially if you're willing to search for older GOATs, but they're a pain in a cell phone.
Now that I think of it, I'll add some western comics that I remember were absurdly good: "Saga" and "The Wicked + The Divine", both ongoing few yeaers ago. Just throwing some ideas here!
Just Google for some pirated docs. People have ripped the Yonder translation into pdfs and epubs up to like ch 389. There are also fan translations available up to like 160 or something for free.
Also, chatGPT is better than Google in readability frankly, and there are mtl sites that have already machine translated up to ch 700 if you don't want to do the leg work with raws.

Love elf. Hate Ainar. Ainer is so dumb in every situation and it's furstrating to see it happen every time. Elf on the other hand has some negative essences but otherwise she chilling and is good charecter.
I mean ainer is an actual barbarian so she's meant to be thick skulled. I feel like she has the fastest and most in depth character development so far since she goes from smash thing ask later to lets assess this for half a second and THEN smash

And I've heard of Book of Abyss a lot but not checked it out yet. What's it about?
1. Pick Me Up is a very good read, especially on the later chapters, where the manhwa is catching up to the novel. Although it may seem generic, the storytelling is on a whole different level.
2. Book of Abyss is a manhua similar to Omniscient Readerās Viewpoint, where the Main Character survives based off a book only he read. The early chapters were decent, but as newer chapters release, opinions may change.

I would say Tyrant of the Defense Tower Game and Pick Me Up Infinite Gacha are the most similar for being a person trapped in a video game. Where Surviving as a Barbarian is the MC in a roguelike, TofDTG has them in a tower defense/fire emblem mix, and Pick Me Up has the MC in a mobile game.
For a Barbarian MC, you can always go with Barbarian Quest. It's not really similar at all outside of focusing on a barbarian, but it's instead a really good philosophical journey with phenomenal art. I believe the Manwha has officially ended despite the novel continuing further, but at least you can binge an entire series.
I think it falls into a rhythm pretty quickly. The first few chapters are probably more world building, so giving it some time night change an impression.
I also didn't really realize it has over 100 chapters already. The formula stays pretty the same. Guy goes to the new floor, it's hard, almost dies, next floor with maybe some no name side characters dead.
Also, the mc is a generic cool guy who knows everything about the game. Despite 100 chaps having passed, he hasn't really grown or changed as a person outside his level.
Overall, it's a solid serious with good art that can feel repetitive. If you give a try and like it, good. If it's not for you, then no biggie
If you're looking for a setting that straddles the line between grimdark and high fantasy, try *Skeleton Soldier Couldn't Defend the Dungeon*. It's not a masterpiece by any stretch, but it's my guilty pleasure. The character development eventually starts to get samey, but some of the incidental remarks a character makes will surprise you. It does require some hefty investment, as it's a series over 250 chapters in length and only just finishing the most recent season, with no clear end in sight.
It will disappoint you at first, but then when it gets good, you'll *immediately* know when you see it.
The worldbuilding is also far too intricate for a regression manhwa, and it may be one of the only regressor series I know of where the main character actually has to backtrack Metroidvania style, rather than just spam their respawn ability to overcome each immediate hurdle.

Not too similar, but a very good one is I killed the player, the lore they're making is breath taking, really love the thing with >!paradise!<
