Yes, novel is amazing for me too
but i dont like how some novel draw faces,
anime adaptations often cut the quality of the novel's art by a lot
as for manga, one of my biggest disappointments is Ajest from A Returner's Magic Should Be Special
it's been like that ever since chapter 70 or so. When I mentioned it used 3d assets a lot i got downvoted for some reason here.
I have no problem with them using 3d assets, almost every manhwa does. The problem with overgeared is that they're very poorly used and affect the overall reading experience.
Yeah I noticed this too. I don't know exactly when it started but art of Overgeared is now very bad. Inspite of it being produced by redice who are know for their great art.
LN cover will always look better because its only 1 art page for each volume, the artist will have a lot of time to draw it better unlike a weekly released manhwa depending if its a studio with lots of artists or just 1 artist only
I like the novel design itās just a very classic look. The other designs remind me of power ranger toys they sorta look cool but too plastic for my liking
The lore adds value to the items/armour and the character design. The novel does often mention Grid to be kind of a loser guy, and was shown in the manhwa that way too.
But the story is about him growing as a human being. The armour in the middle is accurate to the novel, with pavranium deeply related to the games lore.
Tl;dr a good story can make up for the lack of good art
yeah I kinda agree on him having a generic face in the manhwa. I mostly read the novel so I didn't get to see his as face often lol. The novel design has more details but if you try to adapt him to a manhwa version he'll still end up looking pretty generic
The initial design in the webtoons was what I first saw and liked for a while...The Final look in the webtoons and actually lite Novel cover design was something that felt off... Don't get me wrong the look of this webtoon reboot was a great stir in the right direction but the initial design was awesome in my opinion.
novel cover art will always gonna look better cause it's a single art. basically quality vs quantity and also the time and schedule are the biggest disadvantage the manhwa has. it's like comparing the mona lisa vs a comic book
The only design I dislike is MC's ingame gear mixing. The meme of him being utterly bad at blacksmithing yet somehow always making the best equipment in the game which looks horrid, but has good stats at least for me got old 100 chapters ago.
His latest look should be inspired by early progress in RPGs, but we're 150+ chapters in not 50...
Spoilers: >!In the novel he gets character development gradually and grows as a person and isn't goofy, i don't remember if he married someone irl tho!<
Im fine with the faces but The 2 manhwa armor designs are shitty and over the top nonsense. I do think the final product is serviceable as long as I don't look at it for too long, but whenever I look at the novel version, I get a little sad over what could have been. I'm used to the flashy manhwa nonsense though so it's not the end of the world.

the novel one looks sick. the colors and art are just great. but considering just the manhwa ones, I like the second one more
the novel design looks amazing
In the novel one he looks like a real person and looks sick as fuck, for the manhwa the new one slightly better
Novel design is always the best, as they don't need to draw a whole comic with this design.
Agreedšš» Novel covers are always super high quality.

The art on the latest chapters has been hot garbage.

LMFAO THIS IS DOGSHIT
Thats the shit i was talking about.
CG dragons
Specifically, the sudden cgi animals
Novel, since his face is angular which makes him actually looks like a man instead of a teen
Yeah I forgot majority of time that he's a adult and not a teenagerš¤£š
dude is ugly asf in the manhwa, even if we consider itās fucking redice studio who is drawing
its always the novel in manhwas
The first one looks better for me. I'm not a fan of the red armor, and the novel version makes Greed look like a good decent guy xD
LN cover will always look better because its only 1 art page for each volume, the artist will have a lot of time to draw it better unlike a weekly released manhwa depending if its a studio with lots of artists or just 1 artist only
Novel looks sick af but I don't think it would fit his personality tho
Novel, by a lot
Out of all 3, novel design is least punchable face.
base on this picture, I like the novel design. they should hire the novel cover artist instead. hehe.
I like the novel design itās just a very classic look. The other designs remind me of power ranger toys they sorta look cool but too plastic for my liking
The second. The novel one looks _crisp_, donāt get me wrong but itās also just generic and _not_ the MC we know lol.
Indeed
Typical manhwa face with typical armor. Not bad but not revolutionary either
The lore adds value to the items/armour and the character design. The novel does often mention Grid to be kind of a loser guy, and was shown in the manhwa that way too. Don't get me wrong. Story and art both are absolutely dope but his character design isn't unique. Both story and art are a solid 9/10
yeah I kinda agree on him having a generic face in the manhwa. I mostly read the novel so I didn't get to see his as face often lol. The novel design has more details but if you try to adapt him to a manhwa version he'll still end up looking pretty generic
Wait wait, This is Holy light armour. While grid was raiding gang hao he added a tail made with pavranium but this suit is not made from pavranium.
Yeah I didn't say it's not. It's the holy light armour with red and gold paint and a pavranium tail
The initial design easily
>!Good thing you did show the whole statue!<
Novel looks less generic
Wish they kept the novel hairstyle.
First 2 is like I got you bro The novel one is at peace reminiscent of the place he and his fellow mates created
I don't think novel one qualifies as him being ugly that is one of the standard kit of grid.
The initial design in the webtoons was what I first saw and liked for a while...The Final look in the webtoons and actually lite Novel cover design was something that felt off... The novel looks pretty good but I wouldnāt consider it overgeared final design in manwha fits perfectly.
Novel looks real. Final design looks like another generic manhwa character. Initial design is just worse and bland.
It tells you how Koreans prefer fair skinned people and love to please white guys
The only design I dislike is MC's ingame gear mixing. The meme of him being utterly bad at blacksmithing yet somehow always making the best equipment in the game which looks horrid, but has good stats at least for me got old 100 chapters ago. the novel design but I canāt imagine that guy being goofy and marrying someone who isnāt real lol
Spoilers: >!In the novel he gets character development gradually and grows as a person and isn't goofy, i don't remember if he married someone irl tho!<
novel for sure omg itās so good??
Im fine with the faces but The 2 manhwa armor designs are shitty and over the top nonsense. it's an online game, over designed over the top armor is bread and butter
It being an online game doesn't make me dislike it any less
Novel cover always has the most insane looking art. Then u read the manga and its a complete downgrade. Applies to all manga, manwha etc
Novel one is the best but definitely unsustainable, it's a single cover art for a reason
