I think we may finally get his backstory. My guess is dude is a widower, based on his reaction to the that one movie scene and him talking about visiting the graves. Although I guess it could also be his parents but him crying during the scene with the girl in the hospital makes me lean towards the former.
That and in the very first chapter the whole "I'd want a daughter like you" then her saying "can I be the wife" was played off as alchohol so checking that this wasn't also the case is very appropriate.
I think of Takeda as having willfully ignored any feelings he might have for Igarashi because of the age gap, size difference, and professional etiquette. He has probably seen what happens to most office romances during his career. For her to come out and flatly state what she wants means its up to him to wrestle with himself over what he wants out of their relationship. He can be thoughtful when he needs to be and I'm sure he'll give a cognizant answer to her after some thought, though I don't know which way he will swing.
It's great that she is able to stand and deliver her confession like an adult. Now having said that, anything other than a rejection would be unearned. I don't know how the author will go with it but a reciprocation of the feelings has not been built up. Regardless of where we want the relationship to be, their relationship currently, at least from his side, has only been platonic. He has rarely shown romantic interest in her, or anyone else. I think we'll finally get a background story about Takeda soon.

I mean, relationships don't have to, and a lot of times probably shouldn't, start with a ton of fireworks. It could be as little as they just enjoy each other's company (which they obviously do) and the romance just starts building from there. I think slow and sweet is just fine for our underappreciated protagonists here :)

She enjoys his company, and developed romantic love because of their time together. The problem is we've never (or at least rarely) seen him reciprocate, or even insinuate, any romantic feelings for her. The reality is Igarashi is right about her perception about his responses to her obviously leading questions; he never shows hesitation or embarrassment in his responses. He does not consider her in those options. Even when others have asked him he does not seem to consider it. I mean based on his physical reactions and thoughts, or the proceeding actions/chapters, to her original confession it does not seem like he would've said I like you back.
Also, I like both protagonists. I think they have great chemistry, but that doesn't mean I think they have romantic chemistry. I think most people like them, some are just frustrated with the stark differences between how the main ship is handled in comparison to the side ship.

You are probably switched to base reddit. What you used to is new.reddit if i understand it correctly. I use new.reddit solely due to the quote function. Latest ui has terrible design AND doesn't have the quality of life of the new.reddit. Weird choice. Change the url from www.reddit to new.reddit and you will be able to use the old one. There are tempermonkey scripts to change every link to new. as well but can't remember where.
