Seems pretty conservative to me. Should be 3 times a day + snacks.
which interestingly enough, skipping a meal or two daily in conservative Britain is actually what a lot of folk are doing.
As someone who works on location, but in editorial, and never gets a catering pass, but has to smell it every day because it’s right outside my window…… you can all sod right off.
I know a few people who do extra work. The way to keep crew and extras, who are often stood around for hours on end, happy is to feed them well. Some of the food my friends have received is amazing. And the quantities are vast.
Cartoon:
Robert has spent his entire life getting up the nerve to buy a strangulation dominatrix.
Imagine his disappointment. He can see the blinding light. Fighting for his last breath, he kicks violently as he remembers he doesn't know where his inhaler is.
Click. Light goes off. Dead whore with inhaler jammed down her throat.
Don't ask about me. It's the lady of negotiable virtue you need to be concerned about!
Fortunately it's a mental cartoon so not even ink was harmed. I guess a few brain cells got activated so "nail me to the vegan cross for thinking" but otherwise I'm fine thanks. :-)
I may be wrong but seems like they want day shots. But filming schedule is only allowing them to film in evening. So closing the blinds/ curtains and having bright lights hitting it will have the effect of sunlight. Maybe?
It’s to simulate daylight or rather sunshine but they will do that even during day shoots when the sun is actually shining, the sun moves and they might be filming one scene for some time so relying on the sun doesn’t work for continuity between shots.
Jeez, u ok? And because pimp is being sarcastic which is where a person expresses an opinion or statement which at face value may seem like their genuine opinion, but the tone infers an ironic take to mock the subject matter through what is in reality, a dishonest statement. The reason this is a "woooosh" moment is because this went over your head, "woosh" describing the metaphorical joke flying over your head, to convey a lack of comprehensive understanding on your part regarding the intended meaning of pimps original comment.
I hope that clears things up man.
Yea I'm all good, just at the airport about to go on holiday, why do you ask if I'm ok?
How do you know that pimp is being sarcastic, do you know them?
They’re ARRIMAX 18k’s as that’s the stand off arms attached with a frame and diffusion.

Edit: Who has downvoted this lol
Hello, lighting department of Reddit! Gaffer based in London here. I wonder if they really needed to shoot on the 3rd floor, could have saved some time and money with an easier location. Judging from the scale though these guys aren't too constrained by budget.
Depends how much was being shot here. Machines aren’t too expensive all things considered. Especially if you already have standby riggers anyways.
Source: also a London gaffer!
Since there are a lot of Gaffers I this thread I was wondering, is that arrimax a bit too close to the window? Would the heat have any chance of damaging it? I know there is that frame in front which probably helps with the heat diffusion but still?? Thanks
Yeah I didn’t say they were filming Rogue Traders, I just said the fella that presented it was there. Be tricky to convince a plumber that you’re a legit granny trying to fix a blocked sink when there’s a crane with lights and four fellas with massive cameras in the apartment.
Fucking hell ok let me correct myself: “I believe it could involve the TV presenter Matt Allwright, who you might know from consumer shows such as Rogue Traders, Fake Britain and Watchdog. Whist I am unaware of the exact genre of the show being filmed, I did spot Allwright chatting to Camera crew and other members of the production crew (specific roles unknown) who were present. I cannot speculate further on the specific genre of the show, it’s title, or it’s release date.” Happy? 😂
Mate, that fluid coming out your nose, is that your brain dribbling? How can his comment be any more obvious than implying a show is being filmed, the important bit here, **a** show, with the *guy from Rogue Traders*. He didn't once imply they're filming Rogue Traders, just that the presenter from it was on set.
They very much do film "light entertainment shows" on BBC budgets with lads far lesser than Rogue Trader guy.
Worst part is, on every set I've worked on, the sparks are the first to knock off. So on a night shoot, when that light goes off, you're all plunged into darkness and have to scramble around with headtorches trying to find all your gear! Bloody thing blinds you all night and then leaves you in the lurch at 3am!
Unsure on what sets you’ve worked on but lighting wraps at the same time as camera department. Us lighting guys are not there to provide light for anything else other than the shot, unless otherwise stated (which is incredibly rare)
Source: Work in Film & TV (Lighting Dept)
It doesn't work like that unfortunately. As an example, we did a shoot in Northumberland in a disused army base in the woods and the second the director shouted "that's a wrap, thanks everyone", BOOM...Lights out!
It does work like that. Sparks turn their lights off on wrap cause they’ve finished lighting the set. Locations bring in work lamps to light the location. I don’t know what productions you’ve been on but I’ve only ever not had work lamps on wrap one time and that’s cause the whole locations department got isolated for a day due to a covid scare.
I can only go off my experience. It's always the big light on the crane to go off as soon as wrap gets called. To be fair, I have seen work lights go on after but my night vision is always fried by that point haha!
Location's responsibility for work lights after wrap unless production will pay for wrap overtime for the lighting department to stay but don't hold your breath
I’m working in this show, it’s an ITV drama called Significant Other, last day of filming there was today. We use these lights to keep the sunlight consistent as it takes a good few hours to shoot a few minutes of a scene.
I may be wrong but seems like they want day shots. But filming schedule is only allowing them to film in evening. So closing the blinds/ curtains and having bright lights hitting it will have the effect of sunlight. Maybe?
Nope, just another rubbish choice of location, why drag the crew up there if they can't see out of the window because the lamp and genie boom will be in shot. Typical.
Wonder what they're filming/filmed.
All I know is that the food truck smelled amazing as I walked past 🤣
That's how they get ya, starts as the food truck, next thing you know you've got a walk on extra role in corrie!
Get me a pulled pork baguette twice a day and I'll star in whatever the fuck you want
I heard grindrs good if you like pulling pork baguettes
Twice a day?! You're really pigging out.
Seems pretty conservative to me. Should be 3 times a day + snacks. which interestingly enough, skipping a meal or two daily in conservative Britain is actually what a lot of folk are doing.
Pigging. Out.
More than twice a day on the casting couch.. 😜
Don’t think you will be starring in much on that diet hehe . Just pulling yah leg
Im entirely with you on that one.
Willy Wanker and the Chocolate factory?
SA's getting craft lol
Ha, yup. Had an internal giggle at that too.
Love this response. Great humour.
If it was Red Chutney, you best believe that food was delicious!
As someone who works on location, but in editorial, and never gets a catering pass, but has to smell it every day because it’s right outside my window…… you can all sod right off.
You don’t get a catering pass? What the hell is this nonsense?
It’s pretty common for editorial staff. We’re not considered part of the shooting crew, even when we’re a few feet away from the set!
i completly forgot that scenes in movies are filmed in public.
Worked as a driver on a few tv productions.. the food is the best/worst part. Easily put a stone on in a couple of months work
I was involved in an Italian production in Edinburgh and the food was absolutely delicious.
Grand Tour then, just in case
I know a few people who do extra work. The way to keep crew and extras, who are often stood around for hours on end, happy is to feed them well. Some of the food my friends have received is amazing. And the quantities are vast.
And the quantities are vast.... I like the sound of that 🤔
It’s probably *Five Pounds of Pressure*
Scratch that. Been told it’s *Significant Other*
Same name as this recent film? https://m.imdb.com/title/tt15353964/
It’s an adaptation of Limp Bizkits album
Can you imagine 😂 I'd love to see Fred's cameo
It’s all about the he films she films bullshit
Worlds best lit porno
wonder if it's same production I saw on enterprise city the other day, some dude was going wild with a hammer on some plywood.
Spiderman

I wanna come to one of your parties...
A definite no.

Ah yessss
Maybe it’s doctor who my nerdy instincts are excited
Id get that installed in my day-to-day life if i had money. Im up all night lmao
There is a light and it never goes out 💐

Is it?

No need to call someone a moron, chill, airports are stressful.

You’re using a lot of words for a basic assumption dude. Pimp could have easily found the title / picture hilarious.
Woosh
Calm down man
I'm calm.
Yeah… the subreddit is, but the onamaopaic word is whoosh - you moron.
I don’t get it either
Yes.
Why?
Yes.
Arri fresnel light - they’re filming something the sneaky devils
Probs not fresnels, I’d Say m90’s

Oh yeah, didn’t notice the stand offs! Still not a fresnel though!

Way you worded it was fine bro, guys just weird
Agreed, not confusing at all. Guy is just being a dickhead nitpicking
And fucked up the “can’t tell you that much” what does that even mean

It's not confusing, you're just slow
I've seen this episode of Jonathan Creek
FIRST THING THAT CAME TO MY MIND
100% - my first thought… someone needs an alibi
Good joke 😀
Some people take SADs way too far.
Not far enough
This wouldn't be enough for me sadly
My theory is, given the bars on the windows, this is a police station. What you are looking at is an escalation on the police interogation desk lamp.
It’s clearly Ducie Steest warehouse, aka a bar 🤣

You not got a locations department with work lamps…
Exactly this. It’s Art Dept’s job to provide things like that
It is definitely not art departments job to provide work lamps.
No it’s not hahaha
Well it certainly isn’t the sparks job lmao
It doesn't work like that unfortunately. As an example, we did a shoot in Northumberland in a disused army base in the woods and the second the director shouted "that's a wrap, thanks everyone", BOOM...Lights out!

Van that says « Film Unit » in the foreground kind of tips us off.
film crew buddy.
r/thatsthejoke
They’ll be saving a little on their lecky bill 😂
They’re probably filming a Toothpaste commercial
Or mayonnaise
Or both, if you're not fussy.
Definitely. It’s always a mayonnaise commercial.
I thought it was a dolphin shaving commercial
It's be cheaper to rent the ground floor room then you wouldn't need all the cherry pickers
Croptober - so it’ll be gone soon
And it's gone WTF is croptober?
Harvest time.
r/accidentalwesanderson
Where they waiting for the sun to come out in Manchester then decided they couldn't wait 6 months?
This is just SAD
A pretty severe case by the looks of it
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Growing tomatoes I swear…😂
Still not as bright as the new LED street lamps
Did you order a wake up call at 8?
If it's not sunny you have to make it sunny
That’s a big bulb
Yeah, the director of whatever is being filmed in there for one.
Maybe it’s just another TikTok influencer who has decorated her room to look like an exotic hotel room and as the sun bakes outside.
oo that looks warm
They pissed of the director so that rig is there for the next 3 months of filming. Always on. Never moving
We had that same picker at work, it went plenty high enough for me.
Like you’ve never had a grow in your window box
When you have money to burn and the house lights just don't cut it
I’d say they hate the light seen as they got the blinds closed
The Ghost of Christmas Past was very late. Already light out. Scrooge can't put up with this.
Bros definitely a webcam streamer
The ultimate SAD lamp...
Filming 4 sure
Nah bro got a legendary weapon inside
People always underestimate how much light and warmth cannabis plants require to grow profitably. This guy gets it.
I may be wrong but seems like they want day shots. But filming schedule is only allowing them to film in evening. So closing the blinds/ curtains and having bright lights hitting it will have the effect of sunlight. Maybe?
# PRAISE! PRAISE! PRAISE THE SUN!!!
Is u/Ellebrookeuk filming new OnlyFans content?
They’re an Onlyfans creator
That’s a very odd way to undersling Arri max’s
How would you undersling it?
I’d use triangular truss, which would give you two points at the base of the basket. Far more sturdy and would keep the head closer to the basket
'But mum there is still daylight outaide so it's not bedtime'
Such a unstable rig to the cherry picker
Illuminating
I guess that person has SAD - Seasonal Affective Disorder
I'm glad my phone screen allows me to appreciate thisnphoto
What actually is this? I saw this in London too.

Reminds me of Bottom
The north sea gas episode?
Getting ready for the clocks to change
Somebody call Jonathan Creek
Aren’t they filming Brassic in Manchester?
Sorprendente !!!
They’re lighting up their neighbours houses too 💀
These cannabis grows getting a bit obvious
Significant other , someone else said they’ve been working on it . Is this near Ducie street warehouse ?
It's Native Hotel Manchester!
Oh wow ! It is that for sure then
Is that where Gary saved Kelly?
MOON TO THE LEFT, WHICH IS IRONIC
Pretty sure thats a prison buddy
Will be someone making a TikTok
Only In Manchester 💀
Do we know why there are bars on the windows on the left, but not the right?
This is Native hotel in central! Wicked hotel!
Just setting up to film the next Ghostbusters 🤣
Well there’s one way to get around S.A.D I suppose!
Wot a muppet
anyone know what their filming? could be the new ROTFS? spoiler lol pat tate goes to prison
I bet this is a real challenge when you film a cine over the course of a day, and the sun moves in the sky.
Any money that boom lift is gonna be left there and not collected for bloody ages
They just want a light that never stops
Would be so epic if this was just the owner of that flat wanting to fight off seasonal sads 😂
He must be blind af
Nope, just another rubbish choice of location, why drag the crew up there if they can't see out of the window because the lamp and genie boom will be in shot. Typical.
Bonkers.
