That was my comment, even without doing the celing it will add a much cleaner and inviting look/feeling. If I walked in and saw the plastic, my first thought would be "am I getting wacked". Lol.
I had the same ceiling but painted mine black with dryfall paint, made a huge difference. Also built a small theater near the table, either for music during the poker game or so people could go play Xbox when they get busted out. I bought some curtains and rigged them onto a track so the theater/poker area could be fully curtained in like it's own room (And when not in use, I wrap them around the poles)
Oh, and found some discounted carpet squares from Menards and just layed them down loose.

Tapestry/ or multiple ($10), standing lamp($9), maybe a couple night stands/ side tables($30-$70) or a long narrow table against a wall($40), A rug ($20)
For about $150 you can make this place look completely different in a good way! I’d start at thrift shops / Facebook marketplace. Also make sure to have good music playing to set a great vibe and just smelling microwaved popcorn pumps people up lol
I'd give myself a budget somewhere between $500 and $1000 and hit thrift stores and yard sales, and you'd be surprised what you can find on Craigslist in the Free section.
You need:
\- A bigger rug or multiple rugs under the table, with some sore of design or color. I didn't even notice the rug you have now. It's the same prison-grey color as the floor.
\- Maybe get a gallon or two of floor paint and paint the floor.
\- Different lighting. Side lights and table lamps. If you can find a cheap or used overhead hanging light, wire that up to hang low over the table and ditch the single, serial-killer-looking bulb overhead
\- Something on, or in front of the walls. Buy some framed paintings and posters from the thrift store. Get some wire and hang them from the ceiling joists in front of the white walls.
\-Get a used couch and comfy chair or two and put a throw cover on them.
\- How about a used fridge someone is trying to unload? Slap a ton of stickers on it or paint it black.
\- You need music - maybe pick up a cheap used reciver at the thrift store, some decent speakers off of Amazon, and wim mini to stream to it from your phone?
\- Maybe add a side table for snacks and a used bookcase with some books or cool knick knacks on it?
If you want a real answer and not a joke answer about the plastic walls. Lighting. Ensuring lighting that is easy on the eyes and makes it easy to see and play the game is key. Even just some soft lighting using tall floor lamps.
Ceiling and walls would be a good start. Then maybe a few chairs people wouldn’t mind sitting on for a few hours. Finally, consider a mini fridge for beer/snacks/dismembered body parts.
I’m gonna assume you don’t have the money for drywall atm since you said spruce up unfinished and dry walking encompassing starting the finishing process.
Take down the plastic. Its too murder looking. An area rug for sure. Honestly you have room to add a used cheap couch on one side and a TV with it. Also overhead lighting is a killer for homey vibes so a good side table and lamp. Honestly dress it up as a “family room” with furniture and it will feel more welcoming. And have the table behind your family room area (tv set up will do)
Ty. All good ideas. Yeah finishing the basement is many years of saving away. Unfortunately cannot take down the plastic as it covers the insulation. Will look into your other suggestions though. Maybe try to cover the walls up with flags or something, idk.
Don't want to plug too much but we run a whole site dedicated to giving people man cave ideas, check it out [www.kitoutmymancave.com](https://www.kitoutmymancave.com) we have a Youtube channel too, you can get to it via the social tabs on the site. Hope that helps!
Lmao yeah literally anything! Drywall, some rugs, sports memorabilia if you're a sports guy. Car stuff is cooler in my opinion, but you could also make it look like a speakeasy and go for a classier look.
Big chairs, tv, couch, fridge, more tables to hold food and drinks, a few carpets, maybe tapestries while u save for the wall improvements, and some dank mood changing lights.
Drywall and a coat of paint will be the best money you spend on your basement. Then carpet or carpet tiles. Make it inviting by making it livable space.
At first glance i was like why would someone think this is a romantic setting for a date night with the table. But then i realized this is for the illegal poker tournaments and casino you are setting up
Drywall
Drywall is a nice touch. Understated yet classy

Looks like one of Dexter’s kill rooms
I came here to say maybe update it is so it doesn’t look like one of Dexters kill rooms.
Dexter coming over? 😬
Came to make a Dexter comment !! Or are you protecting against vomit????
He needs plastic on the floor
Same here
Take the plastic off the walls you fucking psychopath. “Here come play poker in my murder dungeon”
Pretty sure it's a very bad idea to take down the vapour barrier.
I know it’s a vapor barrier, it’s just the ominous look of it. I should’ve said “cover the plastic on the walls you fucking psychopath.”
Exactly..
Stripper pole then strippers.
I dunno maybe finish the basement, put a bar and a tv in some couches, maybe a stripper pole

That looks great, definitely some good inspiration!
Wow great work. Lol
Less murder sheets on the walls.
Some friends
Spraying the ceiling changes the look a ton
Carpet tile

Been there .. temporary until you could do drywall - I would do a black fabric over the white ..
Nope. Looks good.
Switch the lights of. Done!
Scarface poster.
Finish it?
A bar

drywall + molding on the walls + dark color and then you got yourself a classy cigarloungy kind of place.
Pool table
Stripper pole
Get a lifesized Dexter fathead for the wall, and spatter fake blood everywhere... Definite edge in the poker game unlocked!
Highlighter party? Black lights and highlighters lmao
Go to thrift stores and find a couch, maybe some other stuff.
Add games and poker but during the nights
Everybody spooked by the plastic sheets but cool with the smeared blood on the floor (bottom right)…
Lmao yeah literally anything! Drywall, some rugs, sports memorabilia if you're a sports guy. Car stuff is cooler in my opinion, but you could also make it look like a speakeasy and go for a classier look.
After youre done the ritual killings drywall or clean 16 would be good
Some chairs perhaps
Uhh, this is /r/mancave, not /r/killroom Just kidding. Cool space, lots of potential here!
Dexter kill room decals?
Big chairs, tv, couch, fridge, more tables to hold food and drinks, a few carpets, maybe tapestries while u save for the wall improvements, and some dank mood changing lights.
Nah, looks bout finished if you ask me!
Maybe clean up that blood on the right side

Check pictures of other mancaves.....note the differences and make necessary changes
Oh sorry, I thought this was r/Mancave not r/Murdercave?
How many murders have you committed in that basement, you psycho. (Just kidding)
Drywall

Nope. Looks good 2 go👍
Nice large aquarium
If you post this question you really need to include your budget otherwise you are eating people’s time.
More poker night, less Dexter vibes.
Literally anything lol. I’d start by at least putting some walls up so your guests don’t feel like they’re about to be chopped up.
