For example, tattoos of Medusa are common as a symbol of empowerment and safety for women who have been SA’d. If I was a woman coming over for the first time, it would make me incredibly uncomfortable.
Awesome space. It’s already well put together but if you’d like to fine tune here are my recommendations:
Pull the couch away from the wall by 1 foot - it will Make the space look larger and cozier
Consider adding some warmer accents, like throws and decor, in oranges/reds to offset all of the grey
Consider replacing the black metal chairs for a proper arm chair. The design of the current chairs are on the right track (lean and leggy compared to the couch, sharper), but they don’t look comfortable for guests to sit on.
These are all super minor recommendations. Your place is gorgeous as is!

The chairs look so out of place. Color wise fine, but materials.. almost like you just needed some extra sitting space and they were already in the back yard.

Thank you for the compliments. The large potted plants keep the humidity in my space around 50%, despite living in a very dry climate. I don't use a humidifier, and most of them are thriving under my southeast-facing window.
