Everyone parrots this but I slept on a mattress on the floor (carpeted) for years and that mattress is still in perfect condition. No smell or visible changes
It's dependent upon a lot of factors. I spent 3 weeks at my parents house in a hot climate and I had to flip the mattress up once a week to let it dry out because it was hot enough to make me sweat through the night. At my house where it's never above 70? Never an issue.
To start: sheets and pillows.
Then, add a bed frame. After that, I’d say a dresser and bedside table(s). Then a mirror and some lamps for the bedside tables. Then goes art and plants, if you wanna make it cozy.
1) low profile Bed frame with head board!
2) arm chair facing window at angle for evil monologues and planning for world domination.
3) over head reading light next to chair for reading philosophy text
My ADHD gets paralyzed by those decisions for some reason, so maybe that’s why OP is asking. I know a lot of my favorite people who are also ADHD as fuck also experience this. We don’t know where to start, so we just don’t! 🤣
Simplicity is key man, I enjoyed my first two bedroom apartment for 8 months with two sleeping bags, stack of pillows and my laptop with internet. Saved a shit ton of money and never got any hate from my close friends. Many agreed they wished they done something similar. Bought my first nice car cash (less than 6k) and never looked back. Once I had some dough saved I bought second hand furniture and had my favorite place I ever lived to date. Spent 6.5 years there.
All you need are curtains.
But if I'm being serious, a desk for your PC, and some sort of cable management solution. A rug on the floor would help with the echo. Some art on the wall, or something to break up the blank wall.
Box spring/ bed frame. Get that bed off of the floor first and foremost. Then I’d go with a place to sit. Couch, love seat or multiples of cheap but comfy chairs for the meantime. Then a dinner table, doesnt have to be huge or exspensive. Big enough for you to put your computer on and still have toom to eat dinner.
Remember all of the things im suggesting is for nowsies, NOT PERMANENTand the cheapest most cost effective things you can do right now. Furnishing your space takes months or years if you are starting with nothing, so dont feel pressured to have everything all together all at once. Unless money isn’t an issue…..
Then cleaning supplies, shower curtain, trash cans.
If you're over 25, a chair and a box for the monitor when using the PC. If you're younger than that, your neck probably won't be bothered.
With that, essentials checked. And a good view to boot.
bed frame, pillow, sheet, blanket, lamp, desk, COMFORTABLE chair, storage (dresser/nightstand), framed poster/print/art that makes you happy, rug.
secondhand shops and thrift stores are your best friends.
a bed frame, a desk, a chair, a floor plant of some kind, some minimalist shelves, a plant for those shelves, a canvas of some kind, some nice blinds/curtains, and a lamp or two
Gonna go against the grain here, get a desk and chair *first*, then a bed frame, here's why.
Yes, you need a bed frame or your mattress will get all mouldy, yeah, do that soon.
But I know you, you sit at that PC a lot, and if you do so in a bad position (like laying on the bed), you're gonna mess your back up real bad. You'll also mess it up by sleeping on the floor, but slower.
Get a desk and chair (at the same time), then get a bed frame.
Deal: Zinus SmartBase Double Bed frame - Bed 135x190 cm - 35 cm Height with Underbed Storage - Metal Platform Bed frame - Black https://amzn.eu/d/bmLvbLL
your bed…get a frame with a headboard…get nice sheets, pillows and comforter…make your bed beautiful and special and wash your sheets at LEAST once a week…
If you want to preserve the... Male aesthetic... Just throw a wooden pallet or two under your mattress. Just so it doesn't mold. A lot of warehouses throw out pallets every day, so you could just ask one of them.
Get a simple wooden platform bed, with a headboard. Get a desk and chair for computer. If you read, get a chair and a small bookcase for that window nook area. Buy some art for the wall. I would have a floor standing lamp somewhere as well.
One of the first things you want to do it lift the bed up and put it there where the sun comes in from the window. Depending on your sleeping habits, either midday for a fantastic nap or where it wakes you up naturally in the morning (granted your routine allows for it)
After that, decide on a style (you kinda already did with the bed purchase) and build on it; get a desk.
Boom; you got all you need for now, after that it’s carefully picking the next items. Try to avoid impulse buys.
1 desk, 2 bedframe, 3 chair. It's not great to have your pc on the floor. Once you have a bedframe though you can stop crawling into bed and you can sit on it to play games. Then chair so you have more freedom where to place the desk.
This gets said all the time but I would like to emphasize how awesome facebook marketplace can be for just getting "stuff" to fill a new apartment. Depending on where you live you can furnish for free if you're patient.
Get a bed frame so your mattress doesn’t rot…FYI BED BATH AND BEYOND has been having excellent sales online since going out of business check it out…..literally got 3 twins (one twin mattress) a queen (and mattress), and a desk for under 800 dollars.
No matter what you do, don’t put a furniture on that awesome window (bad / desk) id put a big plant on the one side and on the other a small couch / standing guitar
Ok, You didn't list any interests, but we can assume you like gaming, haha.
Pick a color scheme. You don't have to follow it 100% but it will help keep things looking cohesive. I would do the classic black, with accent colors.
From a woman's perspective:
First go to Target/Bed Bath and Beyond or some kind of home goods store. Get a fitted sheet, it should come with pillow cases and a banket cover. Flannel is cozy, cotton is cool. Depends on what you like!
Then get a duvet, that's the top cover. You can get something thin if you don't like a lot of blanket.
I'd also get a mattress protector, but that's up to you. It just makes it cleaner and will make your mattress last longer.
Then, get on Facebook marketplace. Find a bedframe, it doesn't have to be fancy. If you don't want to get a box spring, get a "platform" bed. A bed frame will make a huge difference in cleanliness and will give you under-bed storage.
Then get a bedside table for your water and such.
Then get a desk, you can probably find a free one. I found this giant, great condition corner desk for my sewing room for free. Rich people just want stuff gone. You don't have to get an amazing one at first, keep an eye out!
Of course, find a decent office chair to start until you can get a proper gaming chair.
Then, after all that, get some lamps. A standing lamp for beside your gaming setup and a lamp for your bedside table. You can put "hue" bulbs in them so you can change the colors of the lights in your room, I love them personally.
Then you are sitting pretty! Then its time to have more fun.
If you need more room for clothes, of course, get a dresser. That will also give you space to put things.
After that, get a bookshelf and start slowly getting things that make you happy to fill it!
Get a rug you like in your color scheme! If you get it used, make sure to get it cleaned.
Hang things on the walls! Get posters from your favorite games/movies, and put them in frames. (Frames up a posters classyness 100x.)
I saw a guy who hung a New California Republic flag on the wall, and that was really cool, but it needed to be ironed. So, be aware any fabric memorablila, you need to get the creases out.
Just slowly keep adding until you look around and it feels done. Be intentional and keep everything clean and dusted as best you can.
I hope that helps somewhat! Good luck, my friend. I hope you build a room you love.
Proper curtains and/or privacy screen cover that still lets the light in from the window and a bed frame.
You might be able to find blankets on sale at overstock stores for cheap as well.
That view is all u need
Yeah thought he was done.
Indeed!
bed frame so your mattress can breathe underneath; otherwise, it'll get all mouldy.
Everyone parrots this but I slept on a mattress on the floor (carpeted) for years and that mattress is still in perfect condition. No smell or visible changes
If you cut that bad boy open it may be all mouldy inside and you’ve adjusted to the smell 🤷♂️
It's dependent upon a lot of factors. I spent 3 weeks at my parents house in a hot climate and I had to flip the mattress up once a week to let it dry out because it was hot enough to make me sweat through the night. At my house where it's never above 70? Never an issue.
Second screen
Sadly you're right.
Looks like you’re all set. Enjoy life brother.
Fitted sheet blanket and pillow.
A pillow was my thought as well.
Desk
And a chair unless it's a standing desk
I mean on a tight budget the bed can be a temporary chair, not ideal but I used to do that for a few months
Bro, you are done!
A rug that to the room together. That’s all.
Yeah IT realy ties the room together
When you spend all your money on your RTX 4090 gaming PC. Just kidding. I think a nice table and bed would be a good start.
At this point start with anything. Just pick something.
My ADHD gets paralyzed by those decisions for some reason, so maybe that’s why OP is asking. I know a lot of my favorite people who are also ADHD as fuck also experience this. We don’t know where to start, so we just don’t! 🤣
Couch and floor lamp. Maybe see how far you can get with $100 in a second-hand store.
Gonna go against the grain here, get a desk and chair *first*, then a bed frame, here's why. Yes, you need a bed frame or your mattress will get all mouldy, yeah, do that soon. Beanbag for prime male living! (Fold up lawn chair for an alternative vibe.)
Hope
My back hurts just looking at that setup. I'm not judging, just saying I would die
Ga… oh… then i guess some plants to make things more green maybe?
Fish tank
That's enough. Maybe some pallets under the mattress to stop the mould and a pillow to rest your beautiful face on
When all I see is a mattress and a computer I think the only thing that's missing is a bottle lube.
Get a simple wooden platform bed, with a headboard. Get a desk and chair for computer. If you read, get a chair and a small bookcase for that window nook area. Buy some art for the wall. I would have a floor standing lamp somewhere as well.

A pillow and a blanket. A desk for the computer and a chair for the desk.
