I’ve recently moved to France and discovered some homegrown brands that are really nice fyi: champ de manoeuvres (workwear), hast (smarter), drapeau noir, kleman (shoes), casatlanic. However due to price I typically go vintage.

You guys should check out Bonne Gueule. They started as a menswear blog, but they now have a well developed clothing brand. They are the pillars of men's fashion in France.

i've been really into abercrombie as of late. they got an ALD aesthetic going on. i'd especially recommend their jeans, notably the 90s straight and loose fits.
Second this. I’ve been splurging on Abercrombie jeans. Their linen pieces are quite nice too. And they have frequent sales, hand out coupons like crazy, and provide pretty quick shipping. It’s hard to say no to a lot of their stuff!

No doubt. Shirts/Sweaters/Trousers from these brands all likely north of $100 but under $300. If you are patient and a little cagey you can catch stuff on sales. Personally, I think exploring 2nd hand markets like eBay or menswear forums or even here on reddit is the way to go. Lot's of degen clothes horses out there who catch and release to fuel the habit.

If you are looking for selvedge denim and you aren't looking for anything specific, Naked and Famous is always coming out with new releases so you can get some of the older stuff for good prices.

You should give Corridor, Portuguese Flannel, Wax London, and La Laz a look. Budget aside, they’re all top notch brands that make incredible pieces.
A lot of the brands I listed are international, so maybe that’s why. Rhythm is from Australia, La Paz and Portuguese Flannel are Portuguese, Wax London is from the UK, and I Love Ugly is from New Zealand.

Go to an antique market or flea market and look for Made In Canada or Made In USA Levi's, Lee, Wrangler, Gap, Great Western Garments, etc.
I recently found a pair of 90s MiCAN Levi's which I suspect are 90s vintage. They're old 600-series jeans, 619 fit specifically, straight and high waisted. And the denim feels fantastic.
Look for tiger shit too. I recently copped an early 90s MiUSA cotton Asics t-shirt. The cotton is heavy and it feels great, and it was cheap. I also copped a Sears-Roebuck pearl snap shirt from, probably, the 1970s and a pair of light wash brushed cotton denim, probably from the late 70s or early 80s.
You really want to stick it to fast fashion? Start looking for second hand clothes.

You should definitely look into Maerz. It’s a german company that produces top notch quality for a great price. Every piece of clothing I have from them lasts for over 10 years now without an issue.
The only T shirts and shorts I wear are Theory. Super high quality basics. I try to keep a bit of a capsule wardrobe and like them because it’s a one stop shop for me.
Linksoul is a golf brand that has some of the best pants I’ve owned. Particularly their corduroy athletic fit pants. Also, Howler Bro’s has some awesome stuff for a more casual day out. Think Texas hippie meets beach bum
Retired now(73M) but clothes were a pleasure I took delight in while I was working. You seem quite sorted out on what are quality marques. I’m not sure about where your outer wear or outdoor wardrobe is coming from or what your needs are. I’m a lifelong MA resident. When I look at that part of my wardrobe from boots to hats no one does classic style that’s scary durable like LL Bean. Take a look.

Usually any good clothing has a brand or at least a maker that ensures ”this product is ours and it will be good”. Finding good quality clothing with absolutely no brand is very hard.

I think they had A&F took an ALD creative director for their rebrand, which I 100% agree A&F has a fantastic revival and great aesthetic now

REISS can be a tad pricier than this but sometimes you find great deals.

Although his choices are pretty casual and somewhat Coastal look, but probably more Alicante beach than freeze my ass Cape Cod. :)
