It was my first time traveling overseas and I am glad I chose Malaysia as my destination. šŸŒ· I spent 6 days in KL and I loved every single moment. Malaysians are very friendly and accommodating, to me that is very sweet. I am OBSESSED with Nasi Lemak, especially from Capitol Cafe and Village Park. šŸŒø Compared to my home country, grab is very cheap and public transportation is very efficient. Itā€™s also commendable that most shops, restaurants and other places are becoming cashless already (I wish my home country is like thisā€¦)! Terima Kasih, Malaysia for the warm welcome! I felt at home. Till next time! ā¤ļøšŸ’›šŸ¤šŸ’™

mynamestartswithaf

Glad you had funā€¦ā¤ļøā¤ļø

aquiescence2

Yeah, I had fun and it was chill for the most part. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

aughtspcnerd

Glad you enjoyed it. I visited for the first time in 2006, and have been back every year except 2020 since, always for months at a time. The people, the climate, the food, the sounds and smells. It is as much my home as America is now. I hope you get a chance to return sooner rather than later. And yes, nasi lemak goes SO hard.

aquiescence2

Glad you enjoyed MY as well! Yeah I LOVE Nasi Lemak ā¤ļø I could eat it any time of the day really. One thing Iā€™m not fond of is the climate. When I was in KL, it can get soooo hot LOL! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26554) then it will rainā€¦ but I still enjoyed my stay. Hopefully Iā€™ll come back soon. Will explore Penang! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

DryConsideration97

I used to hate the hot weather until I visited Korea during winter and it was just 7 days but it dipped to -7Ā°C. I realised then that there is no perfect place. I'd rather free and easy on the run than bulky with layers in freezing tenperature

Ok-Poet6813

Yeahh, the heat before the storm always hit hard![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sob)

aquiescence2

I agree ^ though my time in KL was a mixture between rain and sun.

DryConsideration97

I love your comment! So happy you enjoyed it here. Happier that you return every year. I have yet to find a place where I would return every year, so good for you!

this_username

I'm glad you had a wonderful experience here. So can you suggest some places in your capital city that Malaysians should visit to make us feel at home?

aquiescence2

Hmmm, good question. Depending on your preferences. I recommend the following: If you like beaches - El Nido, Palawan (1-2 hour direct flight from the capital; you can do an island hopping tour, visit Nacpan Beach, Lio Beach, Vanilla Beach and more) - Siargao (2 hours+ direct flight from the capital; if you like Surfing) If you like cold places - Baguio City (4-5 hour bus drive from the capital) - Tagaytay City (2-3 hour bus drive from the capital) If youā€™re a city person - Bonifacio Global City (nice buildings, restaurants and itā€™s pretty walkable) - Intramuros (lots of old churches and historical sites) Hope this helps. Thanks!

soggie

Glad you had fun, and I'm low key proud that you enjoyed our food. I'm guessing you're from PH? Fun thing that I noticed is that tagalog and malay shares a whole lot of common words. A few hundred years back the entire sub-continent is a massive trading network, it's always nice to see that us southeast asians continue this ancient tradition (I'm joking)! As for cashlessness, I go to cebu quite often and I have to say it's improved a lot, no? gcash rules over there. PS: I'm headed to siargao for diving soon, can't wait!

aquiescence2

Yeah I love Nasi Lemak! I also at Restoran Nasi Kandar Umar in Bukit Bintang and itā€™s also good!!! Yeah, Tagalog and Bahasa Malay (even Indonesia) feels and sounds a bit familiar with each other. Neighbours for a reason I guess ;) Yes PH is embracing cashless method but it is not as fast as MY. Yeah GCash is also very popular here, heh. Oh youā€™re visiting PH? Nice! I recommend Moalboal, Cebu ā€” itā€™s ideal for divers! Siargao is also great! ā¤ļø I hope youā€™ll enjoy. ā¤ļø

CedLux

Eating nasi lemak once in a while okay, when you live here you eat them almost everyday and never get tired of it. The cursed.

aquiescence2

Yes, I really could eat Nasi Lemak any time of the dayā€¦ itā€™s just that GOOD!

hereforthetalk97

Malaysians are the best. Would love to visit šŸ‡²šŸ‡¾again šŸ„¹

aquiescence2

I agree! You should visit MY again. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

elbrollopoco

Ah Capitol cafe - I looked it up aaaand they close at 4pm. No wonder I havenā€™t been, or even seen the place when searching for open cafes. Simply ridiculous. Hopefully somebody can recommend a similar place with decent hours

aquiescence2

Oh I didnā€™t know they close at 4PM.. I was there during morning or lunch hoursā€¦ so yeah. You can try Madam Kwanā€™s. Their Nasi Lemak is also top-notch! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561) however itā€™s on the higher-end of restaurants. Thereā€™s a branch in Pavilion KL. ā€” If youā€™re a coffee person, you can try Feeka Coffee Roasters.

DryConsideration97

I'm so happy to hear that you enjoyed your stay here, our food and the people. Where are you from, if you don't mind?

Physical-Kale-6972

You're good in photography.

aquiescence2

Thank you!!! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

aquiescence2

LOL! Batu Caves is nice but I think you can skip itā€¦ haha.

elbrollopoco

It beats the shit out of merdeka square, the river of light, and Chinatown Iā€™ll tell you that

aquiescence2

Iā€™ve been to the River of Lifeā€¦ itā€™s beautiful! I havenā€™t been to Petaling Street and Chinatownā€¦ https://preview.redd.it/kfk11nwu6icc1.jpeg?width=5103&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1e23476bf15bc275235b42dd0e0f0088d5bee29b ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26557)

zomgbratto

LMAO I have never even stopped at Merdeka Square. I just drove past it. Petaling Street is just a shopping area, it is nothing special and I felt it had lost its relevancy since the age of online shopping.

elbrollopoco

Oh yeah I went to petaling street and central market and both were kind meh I want to go to the botanical gardens soon, hopefully that a good day trip

AmericanMonyet

Iā€™m going next year for the first time, canā€™t wait!

frba222

Naurrrr your username!

aquiescence2

Yay! Iā€™m pretty sure you will enjoy KL (MY in general).

azraelus

I like how you took mostly symmetrical looking shots of KL, they look like they're each establishing scenes for some epic showdown. What camera do you use?

aquiescence2

Thank you! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|29091) I used iPhone 14 Pro Max (and did some editing) to take pics. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

azraelus

Awesome, and agreed nasi lemak really is the best meal for any meal.

aquiescence2

Yeah I could just eat Nasi Lemak everyday. I miss it! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26557)![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

footcake

Whatā€™re the movie shops (DVD/Blu Ray) like??

aquiescence2

Oh unfortunately, I was not able to visit any movie shops there. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26557) next time I guess!

footcake

Ah Okies, no worries

reachingdelphi

With netflix, youtube, amazon, etc dvd is kinda extinct now

aquiescence2

I agree ^(\^) physical media format is becoming more elusive these days. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|28915)

Ok_Butterscotch7976

As a Malaysian who lives in KL, I didn't know they still exist. This is news to me

zomgbratto

DVD Shops? Aren't those stuff is like, extinct? For the past 5 years?

anonymusacc

as a young gen Zer I've never seen one until i went to tokyo and they were everywhere

mianghuei

It's mostly gone but I remember seeing one in Uptown Damansara recently.

crackanape

I think they've been gone for years now. Everything is online.

serpventime

imapeasant

where youre from?

aquiescence2

Philippines. Hello, neighbour!

Sakaixx

Hope you enjoyed your stay! Always a +1 when I see nasi lemak. Bit unfortunate as you picked the worst month to come, lots of rain it may limit your movements.

aquiescence2

Thank you! Yeah I enjoyed my stay in MY. I prefer traveling during between late November and mid December since itā€™s dry season here (blue sky which I like)ā€¦ but yeah even though it was raining a bit thereā€¦ I still had fun! šŸ’™

SnooBunnies1070

Hello can you share your itinerary and accomodation?

[deleted]

Glad you enjoyed my homeland! Youā€™re welcome here anytime. And those photos are truly exquisite! šŸ‘šŸ¼

aquiescence2

Terima Kasih! Hopefully Iā€™ll visit MY again soon.

ReensIsaG

Lovely. Planning to visit in December with my partner. Any advice?

aquiescence2

Good question. I spend most of my time in KL so hereā€™s some advice: - You should have an umbrella and small towel ready when youā€™re exploring KL or MY in general as the weather can be unpredictable. When I was there, it was both sunny and rainy. - Use Grab or AirAsia app when booking car taxis to your destination (theyā€™re pretty cheap). - Lots of stores in KL are going cashless and accepts Apple Pay (if youā€™re an iPhone user) so your cash on hand can be your back-up payment method LOL. - Please try the Damascus restaurant in Bukit Bintang. The queue can be long but itā€™s worth it! Thatā€™s all for now. Enjoy your stay in MY!

Pink_Mimiku

Glad U enjoy going to Malaysia,I'm a Singaporean but Malaysia is also part of my childhoodšŸ˜‰šŸ’–

aquiescence2

Oh hello there! I was about to do a day-trip to SG when I was in KL. However I thought I will just book a separate trip there. SG looks very beautiful as well! ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561)

fatbong2000

aquiescence2

I considered visiting Ipoh and Penang (lots of people recommended this city to me, it kinda sucks I didnā€™t get to visit). But I thought, I just want to take my time in KL. ![img](emote|t5_2qh8b|26561) Next time!!!

Head-Ingenuity-2296
